well instead of panicking understand that ITK's also have a life and can't post in here 30 times a day

also consider we was told by ITK fee agreed, terms have been agreed, and the only thing stopping it was a medical because Lo Celso was on holiday. Now Betis either want more of a fee or more upfront payments which has delayed him flying to us rather than them. If Levy had made the payment when it was originally agreed it would of meant doing it 1-2 weeks before GLC could join unless he wanted to cut his holiday short, and then the club would also then have to pay a player that was contributing nothing.

would you take on new staff and pay them straight away and then let them take their 3 week holiday with pay?

Eh? where did I mention ITK? I simply said as these deals have dragged on it's perfectly acceptable for some people to get a little nervy and panic, whilst also stating I'm not yet one of those people but can see their rationale.

Also I'm sure other clubs have signed players who went away after international duty, not sure that argument really stacks up. Could easily do the deal before he went away, as he'd have the same time off as our existing players who were involved in the same comp

If one more person says we are short at right back! FFS it’s Poch choice to play foyth as a right back, secondly what the point of bringing through young laters like KWP and. Keep blocking their path. That’s without giving aurier a decent chance. We don’t need a right back. Lo celso and sessegnon and I’m very happy with this window

I have to admit, I did sense sonething in regards to Poch's comments about Levy.

He said he won't comment on his chairman yet has done many times before with no qualms. So either he was sick of the question or didn't want to be honest about how he felt.

Gards seems like a good guy buy he does tend to fly off the handle a bit when there's a hint of negativity. Could just be a case of Chinese whispers and Poch may be unhappy with how things are going but not necessarily directed at Levy.

Ive been positive and tried to apply reason so far but I'm under no illusion that if we don't get GLC and Sess then that's simply not good enough. If Levy doesn't get these deals over the line, well, not only will Poch be off but he'll face the wrath of many fans.

It’s the same every window all starts positive then slowly as window starts to close it turns more and more negative! Hence why we are slowly losing our collective shit! I think we all hope the club proves us all wrong and week or so time we are all on here feeling rather silly for these tantrums! But given our history in the transfer window it’s very hard to feel this is going to be an different

Totally feel people's frustrations and appreciate this window could still go south. That said, I think there's plenty to be optimistic about before losing our minds. We got to the CL final last year with this squad. It's clear we need to invest to progress but at the same time we don't live FIFA Career Mode. Also - SALT. SALT. SALT.

Right back is the least of my concerns. Given how trippier played last season, selling him w/o replacement is an upgrade because it means he can't play for us again.

Why do some posters on here constantly call people bed wetters and say lets wait till the TW closes before being worried/negative. Im sorry but this is exactly what people said the last 2 windows and then had to eat humble pie.

This is all far too familiar. Really positive ITK at the start followed by it all seeming to drag on and going a bit quiet. Then some negative ITK creeps in and then we dont do anything and it all falls apart.

Id love to be proven wrong but it is following a pattern now.

Personally I don't agree with either side of the argument and both rationalize it as they are right based on past evidence. Last summer where we signed nobody or the ones before where we signed 4 players in the last week, so on and so forth.

There's plenty of reasons to be optimistic and plenty of reasons to be pessimistic so I don't know why anyone is so married to one stance or another, yet.

people are getting nervy because they don't know exactly what is happening, after it was a done deal. now it's not a done deal many of the nervy are blaming us, because it's Levy

that's why we are only in debt because the cost of the stadium. you don't buy a player that's not going to be involved. that 150-450 extra salary could cost in the long run paying another signing and being able to offer them a better wage.

the only teams that do this are teams that are in debt, or have owners that don't care about money

If we miss out on this one, it’s pretty bad tbf. Not sure I buy the Napoli interest though, trying to force our hand I guess.

Glad I'm not the only one, the only small part of me that thinks otherwise is the James deal for them is off but I don't think Lo Celso is a realistic alternative. The only aspect of it is that even if it was true, I doubt Napoli can match our bid.

All these angry voices. It’s like being a kid in the middle of a parental divorce
Agreed.

We’ve addressed the main area of first team concern and that’s central midfield. Nobody can saw that we don’t have both quality and depth there now.

With Toby, Eriksen and Rose still here, any further signing will improve our options but not necessarily our day 1 game first team. Son, Sissoko, Trippier, Davies, none were trusted with many minutes early on.

We have two signing actively pursued without outgoings it seems, Sessegnon and Lo Celso. The former is seemingly heir apparent to Rose, who we can mostly agree is good enough and seems like he’s still here for another 6 months, and The latter would add to either an attacking 4 selection of Kane, Dele, Son, Lamela, Lucas, Eriksen and Parrott, which is some pretty awesome depth, or a CM2 / 3 selection of Sissoko, Winks, Ndombele, Dier and then Skipp and Wanyama, again not too shabby. Neither area is desperate for him, like Liverpool’s defence were desperate for VvD and Allison, but both areas would benefit from him.

This is a very good squad:

Lloris Gazzaniga
Aurier KWP
Alderweireld Foyth
Vertonghen Sanchez
Rose Davies
Winks Dier Wanyama
Ndombele Skipp
Dele Sissoko
Eriksen Lamela
Son Lucas
Kane Parrott

Now, should we get GLC, it’s EVEN less likely that we’ll see much of Wanyama, and there’s less pressure on Skipp, which are both positives. Also in terms of attackers, Eriksen is succession planned, Son and Lucas are freed up to understudy Kane, and our options our greater. Likewise, Sessegnon gives us depth which means Rose succession is pre planned, Davies is freed up for CB if needed, and in turn Foyth for RB, while his presence also gives more possibility to free up Son or Lucas to fill in for Kane and Parrott doesn’t get thrown right in at the deep end. However, while we will all, me included, be gutted to not add, there is already a very strong squad in place, who are coming into this season far better rested and also less injury riddled than last season, so if the worst happens and we do miss out, we aren’t fucked the way many are portraying it. And people might say I’m including Parrott, KWP and Skipp who are largely untested. So were Kane and Winks, so we’re TAA and Joe Gomez, so was Rashford. The upside of having to use these kids earlier on is that they become more likely to make the grade by experiencing men’s competitive football ahead of schedule.

Because there needs to be a balance.

People keep referring to the last two windows as if it's the standard when we have always done late business. I posted some facts in the Dybala thread yesterday to show that other than the last two windows we've done loads of deadline day business. Okay, we haven't always got the deals we wanted or expected but Eriksen, Lamela, VDV, Aurier, Llorente, Lucas, Sissoko are all in that bracket - and for big fees too.

It's frustrating and I wish we would be able to do all our business earlier to avoid this panic and desperation but it's the way ENIC/Levy have always operated. I imagine Poch is frustrated and we all would be if we were hearing how one minute a deal is close only for it to be off again (Lo Celso). In fact it's good that Poch is frustrated now as at least it'll put pressure on Levy to get it done.

I agree with the sentiment that it'll be unforgivable in Levy does not bring in at least Lo Celso and Sessegnon, especially seen as we are CL finalists and have a state of the art stadium.
