He's looking like an accomplished left back - pleased for him.

Honestly though, I don't quite see the aggression, confidence, technique or athleticism yet that would trouble Reggie, but I'm coming to the conclusion that we have the best LB in the league...for now, anyway...so there's no shame in that

Promising performance. I think another season in the Bundesliga will be very beneficial for Ryan. The hope is he can then comeback and challenge Reguillon for the LB position. I imagine Davies could be moved on or he'll stay and play as a LCB. We also have Cirkin, who could probably do with a loan next season and we can afford to take our time with his development as we're very well stacked at LB for years to come.

I watched the entire match yesterday and thought he was excellent aside for being out jumped by Caligiuri for Augsburg's goal.

Hoffenheim usually plays with 3 CBs so Sess has mostly featured as a wingback. However, yesterday they used a flat back four and Sess stil looked comfortable at LB.

If he keeps putting in solid performances I expect he'll become Hoffenheim's first choice LB/LWB and they'll use Robert Skov further up the pitch. Playing consistent Bundesliga football as well as featuring in the Europa League knockouts will be massive for his development.

When Sess returns this summer he'll have just turned 21. If Reguilon is still around its hard to imagine Sess playing consistent football with us (especially if we're back in the Champions League where Mourinho might not trust Sess to perform). If he comes off a season playing consistently in Europe and the Bundesliga he should have some strong Premier League loan opportunities. I'd love to see him get a whole season playing at LB in the Prem before he links up permanently with our side.

This guy is a winger not a fullback for me
I’ve watched a ton of hoffenheim this season, especially in the Europa, and their system amplifies their fullbacks’ attacking ability, but defensively, he’s mostly responded really well to being isolated, not really like our system now, but been really solid defensively in arguably tougher defensive situations in what I’ve seen of him and them. It’s only aerially in defense where I’ve seen him struggle.

Stop anonymous accounts. I believe in freedom of speech but you also have to face the consequences of your actions

This.

There is absolutely no justification in having an anonymous account and allows vile people to hide.

i don't think he's a full back or a winger.

tbh he would actually fit in with what we're doing now. play him high up the pitch and on the counter, it's when you start asking him to get involved in the play and beat players that his weaknesses on the ball show. his composure in front of goal is only bettered by son and kane.

The whole debate as to whether he's a LB or LW, he'd almost be better as a good old fashioned LM.
It's a shame that the old positions aren't used anymore!

Would add, this kid is about to turn 21. Reguilón, who we all agree is looking the part, was 2 months shy of turning 22 when he made his 1st club appearance at any level above the 3rd tier of Spanish football.

This year at Hoffenheim could end up being a masterstroke that leaves us either with exceptional competition for Reggy or a very able replacement should Madrid come calling.

2 assists and 2 goals in 8 league starts and 2 sub appearances for a side not even top 10 right now in Bundesliga is not to be sniffed at, at 4th place Dortmund everybody’s darling Sancho has 3 assists an 0 goals in 11 starts and that’s playing primarily in the front 3, not as a full back/ wing back.

I think Sessgnon and Skipp are developing well and should step in and allow us to move on Sanchez (Ben Davies will increasingly at CB IMO) and Winks.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but with both being so young, I’d like to see both of them stay out on loan next season too. Especially if they stay where they are. If they are starting every game, over two seasons, and continue this upward trajectory, then they will return as seasoned, ready to play pros, in their early 20s. Would hate for them both come back next season and play in fits and starts. They both have huge upside and the best way to help them reach that potential is to play as much as possible in highly competitive teams and leagues. Hopefully the same might apply to Parrott as well. Not to mention if Foyth keeps playing DM, and makes that spot his own, that could be very interesting.

Agree about Sess (especially if Madrid recall Reg) but I think Skipp plays in an area where we're light and I'd actually be really disappointed if we loaned him again next season.

Given we're always a Hojbjerg injury from disaster, Sissoko will be 32, and Winks needs to be sold, it seems like a no-brainer to bring Skipp into the fold IMO.

Much depends on how we sell and buy. And Jose’s trust in him to deliver at the same level as PEH. He is young and may need more time. We also don’t know if Jose will evolve his tactics over the coming months.
