When it comes to criminal investigations, people shouldn't speculate on what any person may or may not have done.
Bingo. How are we supposed to have this ‘discussion’ when we all know next to nothing about the accusation.

25M, 30M.. who cares — it's an absolute steal!

fantastic piece of business
Also seen £22.5m so who knows but i agree at £30m or less its great business and looking at the targets and deals being talked about FP is doing some magic.

Forster, Perisic, Bissouma, Spence and Eriksen potentially in for c£50m. With Torres and Richarlison for another £100m. That would be c£150m for 5-6 potential starters and a solid reserve keeper. Considering conservative sales of Lo Celso (20), Ndombele (20), Reguilion (20), Royal (20), Bergwjin (20), Winks (20), Lucas (20) and Rodon (10) would bring in c£150m in sales then Spurs would end up with a potential Net profit over the summer and having not dipped into the £150 ENIC fronted!

Lets hope they keep the African Nations Cup dates as scheduled to June 2023, think they normally have it in January but got moved probably because of WC.
Mali top their group so should qualify we don't need any more interruptions this season and to lose a player.

They actually changed the scheduling of AFCON's in 2017/2018 so that now they take place in the summer as standard. I don't know why but for some reason the last tournament was moved to January again.

? No-one is paying £20m to take Ndombele off our hands!

I believe that the number of women who make up an accusation of sexual assault is in the vast minority. Statistically the number of genuine sexual assaults that lead to a successful prosecution are around 2.5%. Therefore if you are accused of sexual assault, if you are arrested and handcuffed, if you are bailed three times and still under investigation after 8 months, you are probably guilty but will still probably get off.

Okay we are going to go around in circles because again your premise is about belief in terms of accusations. Now I want to be very careful because whenever I articulate this point people then believe I'm undermining the very real fact that they're a lot of people who suffer from sexual assault and the perpetuator does not have any consequences, I am no way in shape or form downplaying that, I am in no way looking for this to be about how men are treated in this situation vs women, I am simply trying to explain why objectively you cannot judge Bissouma on this incident without evidence and I'm going to do so using a different example involving collecting data based on what people say vs tangible evidence because it's the best analogy that works and I don't want it to be misconstrued as what about men, that's not the intention.

If you were to ask men whether they have been the victim of domestic abuse, I would predict that the number would be significantly lower than if you asked females. This would be because of a myriad of factors
- The extreme stigmas about men showing any signs of weakness so as to not wanting to dare admit a woman abused them
- Men feeling like they're in control of the situation because of the relative physical differences
- Men having significantly more difficulty talking about emotions again due to stigmas and therefore not being as attuned to what constitutes psychological abuse

I honestly believe if you were to take a survey asking men whether they've suffered domestic abuse the number would be low, compared to then explaining explicitly the parameters which by letter of the law would be deemed domestic abuse and then asking them to answer as a matter of fact whether they have been subjected to any of those behaviours by their partner and getting them to remove feeling from the situation. Again though both of those results would be collected on what they say, the contrast in the result has the potential to be significant.

That is why what people say is not a good barometer to define any objectivity whatsoever and that is one of the complexities which surrounds the difficulty in getting convictions and I have empathy for those who genuinely have suffered and don't talk to anybody because they're aware of that reality and I am desperate to contribute in a positive way to improve that but I'm absolutely adamant that misunderstanding the difference between an accusation and using that as part of evidence is a key contributor to that problem because it creates very aggressive debates where neither side understands eachother and those who truly have suffered simply will not be in a place mentally where they dare to face dealing with that.

I'm trying to articulate this the best way I can so you can see that this isn't me just being bias to Bissouma or that I have a bias against anybody but ultimately I can't control the way people will judge what I say and that's okay but I do hope you can see this comes from a good place.

respectfully your reasoning is based on conjecture
- Conjecture based on the statistic of accusations vs convictions
- Conjecture about why they would take 8 months to deal with a case

Neither of these things have any grounding in reality, I could easily use conjecture in the opposite direction.

He's about as close to Kante as you can get in the PL IMHO.

If this is true then absolutely buzzing.

I haven’t watched Bissouma enough to make a fair comparison, but I was at the United vs Chelsea match at Old Trafford a couple of months back, and Kante was a joy to behold in a game that lacked quality and creativity.

He was by far the standout player, and that was on a pitch which had Ronaldo on it.

If Bissouma is even 50% as good as Kante then we’re absolutely laughing.

FR originally said €26m, which is the initial amount £22.5m, add ons to £25m prob.

What a fantastic signing. My Brighton supporting mate just sent me a text saying "wankers". He knew that he wasn't long for the club due to contract but says he would have let him go for free next year just to watch him play for them again. Credits him as the best player ever to wear the Brighton shirt & thinks he will take our midfield to a different level.

Perisic, Forster & Bissouma is a pretty damn good start!

Liverpool and City make these type of signings too. Like Liverpool getting Wiljnadum from Newcastle. It's what the best teams do really, get the best players from the teams lower down the table.

Bentancur, Skipp, Højbjerg, and Bissouma are all very similar players. Exclusively behind the ball players (for the most part!!!). Obviously Bentancur’s run v Norwich etc. but you get my point. But all perfect fits for a Conte MF2 and that’s what matters. And those four make our midfield options fantastic this season. And on the player. Solid defensive technical aspects, top carrying, quick feet, elite ball striking from distance. Maybe I’d like to see a bit more adventure in his passing and improve his defensive work rate. And I assume the club know about his case. If it won’t be an issue, it’s a true bargain for someone who knows and has thrived in the league.

Like Kante he is an amazing athlete. Eats up the grass, which is why he ranks so highly in defensive actions such a tackles and interceptions. Very good dribbler too which helps with his press resistance. In a Conte system he will have the passing patterns drilled into him. All teams struggle to get a grip on the midfield when he's fit for Brighton, including us. When he's out their form tends to drop. Always a sign of a key player.

The question mark is how hungry he is to improve. Just need to hope the big payrise and move to London doesn't go to his head. He has all the tools to be an absolute monster in a Conte midfield.

educate me, who did United sign that was a successful signing? Not trying to be a smart arse, I'm just struggling to understand who from outside top6 as I cannot think of any.
Sheringham, Yorke, Cole, Ferdinand, Rooney, Berbatov, Tevez, Van Der Sar, Carrick and probably others

You can't think of any good signings from SAF throughout his entire reign?
At my age, I'm happy if I've remembered that I've put my trousers on. Thanks to @Timberwolf with the list. Although, wasn't SAF in charge for like 40years, so its inevitable that he would have signed someone from outside the Top6.

Woman here - don't know if that lends any different perspective on this.

Any person that abuses another is absolutely repugnant, I've seen the long-term impact of these things on friends and it is truly shocking. That said, as deficient as our legal system is, in relation to this with so few actual convictions, we have to assume innocence until proven guilty and assume our club has done DD plus i'm sure in the future he will need to do his best to avoid this type of situation occurring.

As a footballer he is superb. As a man/person I have no idea but this will have been considered I am sure as I believe we read that Conte was keep to review the 'character' of players before we sign.

I may not be 'whooping' as there is a slight reservation but like someone else said there are some shameless people out that accuse for no reason or are mistaken in their identification, so we need to keep calm heads.
Innocent until proven otherwise, that’s fundamental to any one persons right. If guilty (although no one really knows what happened) you get rid for sure.
We need to embrace and enjoy until we hear different.

Possibly...The player is a 25 year old lad who could be tarnished by events that possibly had nothing to do with him.
