As the title says. Which players do you not rate who others seem to.

For me the 3 that jump out are:
BAE: How people say he was one of the best in the league last year and we need him back is beyond me! I think he is a total liability of a player and was delighted when he went

Corluka: See above. I always was astounded at how highly he was rated by most fans. Had a slower turning circle than the Titanic! Also we paid £8m for him and City replaced him with Zabaleta for less from Espanyol!

(maybe controversial) Vertonghen: I dont actually think he is a very good centre back and has caused quite of lot of problems when playing. I certainly wouldnt be devastated as others if we lost him. I feel he could be replaced

Freund - don't get it.
Defoe - Score(d/s) goals sure, but never really 'liked' him, or warmed to him.

For the exact opposite of the reason i liked BAE, i disliked Berbatov. BAE might've been a clown sometimes, made the odd mistake or whatever, but he tried, and he enjoyed himself out there as he knew it was ultimately a game as well as his job. Berbatov never enjoyed his football, and even that's when he could be arsed - when he could he would hit the ball with so much finesse, he had so much talent it sickened me that he a) only bothered for about 2 minutes of any 90 he played and b) he didn't enjoy the fact he was so naturally gifted. Absolute waste.

And from days of yore, Jamie Redknapp instantly gets my vote as i never once saw him do anything of any use whatsoever once he took off that red jersey, yet played frequently.

Agree with Corluka, massivley overrated. Amazingly I actually rate the majority of our current squad (bar the obvious). As for premiership players: Antonia Valencia (championship player), Steven Gerrard (never world class).

PLayers from the past - Andy Cole and Chris Armstrong.....

Oh and pretty much every English international player of the last 10 years.

Vertonghen. He's good but he's not 'world-class' as many would claim (as much other supporters as our own).

From other clubs - Baines, Carrick, Sturridge, Ivanovic, Arteta, Adam Johnson.

Entitled to your opinion of course......but Corluka and BAE got us into the Champions League AND helped us get to the quarter finals of it. If you can remind me of a better RB/LB pairing we've had who've achieved that then I'd like to know who they were...!

Vertonghen too tbh, lovely player and all that but the world class tag is very very premature. Add to that any player who was amazing but joined us when they had seen there better days...back in the 90's we were equivalent to the MLS.

Dont look at Vertonghen since he has come back from injury and playing alongside the inept Rose and Dawson. How could he possibly look good? He is a superb defender. Has it all - except maybe pace but seems to manage fine without it.

Corluka too was a very good defensive rightback and linked up very well with Azza. Awful CB, but decent RB.

BAE - I hated him, i came round to him, then i hated him again, In general I agree with you. A liability but so good on his day.

I think English TV pundits have had a tendency to overate Defoe over the years ie questioning his exclusion from the team even when better options were available or he was in the middle of one of his barren spells. This season they've also overrated Townsend.

As this is Spurs chat I'll stick to Spurs players.

Robinson was over rated for a period. England had some poor keepers and he was rightly number 1 for a while. Didn't mean he was particularly good. He was OK but because he had been over rated the backlash when he made mistakes was dispropertional.

Palacios. I know some will hate me for saying this but I don't buy his downfall was simply down to family tragedies. He filled a hole in our midfield and excelled as he offered what we really needed. He was never quite as good as many made out.

Dawson. For a long time I had non-Spurs saying he should be in the England squad. He's been a good servant but hasn't improved sufficiently. I do like him though.

Lennon

He has played exactly the same way since the day he arrived, so utterly predictable, and his only strength was his speed.

Townsend

"going to be the next Bale". Good God, give me a break. Run....cut inside.....shoot.....repeat.

For other teams, players i have never rated or always thought were massivley overrated for various reasons... (first one always shocks)

Ronaldo yes the balon d'or winner... Not into the tricks for trick's sake the preening/posing and self love or the attitude, great shift and shooter though.
John Terry (gets away with major deficiencies and constanly diving in A LOT)
Michael Owen (bobbles were his friend. one of the luckiest bobbliest dribblers ever, and very limited player)
Andy Cole )the Black Parker (not scott, the "yes me lady" Parker) was just average for me, and ran like a chicken.
David Platt a great timer of runs (was the sum total of him as a player)
Frank Lampard (as above but with better passing)
Tom Cleverly (just a nothing player. New Scholes i hear... new Lee Sharpe possibly)
Now there's a theme coming in the next batch...
Antonio Valencia
Angel Di Maria
Gaby Agbonlahor
Keith Gillespie
pace for brains, don't like the football out and out wingers dictate you play, just not football i enjoy watching (why these team selections i see with Lennon Right and Townsed Left in a 4-4-2 send shivers down my spine)
Give me a Figo,Iniesta or a Zidane (or a CAM) on the wing anyday rather than those.
if you need fixed width let the Fullbacks provide it.

Chiriches - though that's more to do with what I consider to be people exaggerating how good he is. He's still young, and has shown flashes of brilliance, so could still become a very good player. I just don't think that right now he's as good as some seem to believe.

Far too many players from other teams for me to bother listing them, but in recent times Tom Cleverley stands out like a sore thumb. The guy would struggle in the championship, yet Fergie and now Moyes kept/keep on persisting with him for some unfathomable reason.
