Current Team

Paulinho....Dont get it at all! If Madrid want him then let them have him
Defoe.......So glad hes off
Rose....Just shocking
Gylfi...One of the worst players ive ever seen in a Spurs shirt, and ive been going since 1979!!

You sir, look a scholar. I'm not as anti-Defoe, but I agree especially on Paulinho. We could easily sell him for a profit, and turn around to buy a similar, and superior, player with a solid chunk of cash leftover for other areas of need.

For me though, I have to include Lamela. I thought it was plain as day to see from the Youtubes everyone in Spurs internet land was circle-jerking to that his style and physicality would take some major adjustments for him to ever succeed in the Prem. Thought we were spending waaay too much considering the above, and that we already had two solid right wingers and had an unaddressed gaping hole on the left created when Bale went inverted. Would love to someday be proven wrong on the matter, and I'll happily accept any mockery I get as a consequence, but until then thank Christ some of you have nothing to do with our scouting team and the club may yet learn from the mistake.

Oh, if we're going for players from other teams, one who was very nearly one of our squad

Downing.

Genuinely can't figure that one out.

Sturridge and Baines are underrated if you ask me!

Absolutely agreed on Sturridge. Strong words, especially considering he plays for a direct rival, but for me he's one of the most underrated strikers on the planet. And ftr, I'm not English.

From the current squad:

Paulinho - Cant for the life of me work out why we tried for so many years to get rid of Jenas and then when we finally do we go out and buy his Brazilian brother for £17 million. Offers absolutely nothing bar the odd goal yet somehow gets picked EVERY game (even Europa League ones) and is hailed as a messiah amongst some sections of spurs fans.
Townsend - Never have i seen anything from him in his time at spurs that suggests he's a higher end premier league player let alone an automatic starter for England which most pundits seem to think he is.
Not going to mention Rose, Siggy, Dawson etc as I don't think ive ever heard any spurs fans say that they are good players.

Past Players:
Steffen Freund - Hated him as a player, was utter tripe but was also an embarrassment half the time how he would pick a fight and then run away.
Cant really think of anyone else as again I think even spurs fans knew 95% of our team was crap and didn't overhype them.

For other teams, players i have never rated or always thought were massivley overrated for various reasons... (first one always shocks)

Ronaldo yes the balon d'or winner... Not into the tricks for trick's sake the preening/posing and self love or the attitude, great shift and shooter though.
.
Jesus!! I genuinely think he's one of the best ever!

Lennon

He has played exactly the same way since the day he arrived,
so utterly predictable, and his only strength was his speed.

Townsend

"going to be the next Bale". Good God, give me a break. Run....cut inside.....shoot.....repeat.

See, I disagree here. The Lennon of old would ALWAYS get to the bye-line, making several defenders look shite while doing it. But when did you honestly last see that happen? It's always "cut inside" now.

Oh, and I think Vertonghen is over-rated big time. Mostly due to his attitude I think.

Does it count if they were over-rated by themselves, even if no-one else on earth agreed?

+ Bendtner and Stan Collymore.

VDV - ran around like a headless chicken which made people think he worked hard, when in fact he wasn't doing his job to start with (especially when playing right wing). Good footballer though when on the ball, just not the Messiah Spurs fans make out.

Jan Verthongen - good defender, but has he improved one bit since signing for us? Still falls asleep far too often.

Vlad Chiriches - without a shadow of a doubt the greatest mystery I have encountered so far as a Spurs fan. An absolute liability who everyone loves because he does the odd 'good' thing, like run out of defence with the ball and then lose it

Adam Smith - he was never going to make it for us. Never. I remember being banned on here at the start of this Season for branding some posters on here 'idiots' because they genuinely believed he should be playing ahead of Walker and Naughton. He is now sat warming the bench for Bournemouth.

John Bostock - you could always tell he would waste whatever potential he had/has.

Erik Lamela - so many people talk about him as being a world beater and how we (mostly AVB) have failed him etc. He has done nothing so far for Spurs to suggest such nonsense. Absolute nonsense (cue the "what about against Sheriff, or his assist against Swansea" drivel).

David Ginola - capable of some phenomenal moments, but realistically was nothing more than a fair-weather player.

I can't think of many others who have been over-hyped by the Spurs faithful.

King, Modric and Bale are worthy of their praises.

I don't care about players at other clubs, but Januzaj is annoyingly over-rated and Cleverley is actually horrific (but the majority finally seem to have realised that now).

Isn't that the lyrics to some recent dance song?

It was terrible, but would be a very apt chant for our Andros.

Defoe - I still don't understands how one of the Englands best natural finishers only knows how to smash the ball as hard as possible goal wards. Surely a natural finisher would have a variation of finishes in his armory?

I think if ManU buy Vertonghen it could turn out disastrously comical in a duo with Phil Jones or Smalling, lol.
