So not seen this anywhere on SC this morning so figured I'd throw it up, m mate e-mailed it to me as he's one of the few mere mortals that is allowed to still post on COYS....which I assume is where this is from.......

Initially he sent this......

Paxton53

Can't reveal source - so take it as you will (but it was a VERY good one
%7Eb965829.TMP
)

Was enjoying the boardroom hospitality at City before the game and the following came up in a conversation:

that we are making progress with Diarra and Sissoko, that there is no danger of Keane remaining at the club for reasons that many speculated about on COYS and.........drum roll.........

that Daniel had told Harry he would sanction a £30m+ bid for a centre forward if we made the CL

Which was then followed up by this........

Paxton53

HUGE APOLOGY!

No idea why I wrote Sissoko - it was Muntari that was mentioned. Only just reread my post and realised the cock up (91 replies later!).

Long drive back from Manchester and brain in a state of total confusion from what I witnessed at City last night.

Just to clarify:

"quite far down the line" with Muntari and Diarra
£30m+ bid sanctioned for a CF if we made the champions league.

I'd be all over us gettin Lassana Diarra who has defo fallen out of favour in madrid even though I'm not convinced that we need him. However, Muntari seems a bit of a pointless buy to me so not really fussed about that.

Besides that I think we all agree that a 30 mill caliber striker should be on the agenda so who the list of names would be is anyone's guess right now.

Muntari and Diarra would both be weird buys given the emergence of Huddlestone as an effective holding player, Palacios as a pressing ball winner and Sandro to come in as well....

Not sure we would need both Diarra and Muntari, alongside Sandro, Hudd, Palacios. Either or them maybe. Personally I think Diarra would take us up a level.

I doubt we will be spending £30M on a CF either. £20m should get us an up an coming number 9 that will suit our squad.

I was interested when it said Sissoko, I don't care much for Diarra.

Nic....you're having a laugh aren't you? There is no way that you rate Sissoko over Lassana Diarra? He's arguably in the top 3 for holding players in world football, hence why Real Mardid signed him in the first place.

Only reason he isn't playing is because Pelligrini appears to prefer Gago and Granero cos they are more ball playing kinda players but there is no doubting Diarra's ability, he would totally take us up a level in central midfield.

Snap! Nicdic. Alhy Sissoko would've been great. Diarra seems a bit redundant after Sandro and Palacious. Not sure why we'd need both Muntari and Diarra too.

£30M  ... Eek ... Eto'o

Dude, you're thinkin of Lyon left back Ahly Cissokho (spelling?) whereas this was about Momo Sissoko (once of Liverpool, now Juve) either way that was a mistake anyway, this dude meant Muntari.

To be honest Diarra is an upgrade on Palacios and I would imagine Sandro too in that holding role, but since we've only just bought in Sandro and Palacios is deemed one of our more important players I can't see it happening.

I don't know if it's just the wave of happiness that I'm surfing on but I really don't want to mess with the squad too much.
We've got Sandro coming in already and apart from (maybe) a decent young back-up keeper, I think that all we need is the fabled world class striker.
Someone in the Dogbra (sp on purpose!) stylee would suit us fine.
Just got to bloody well find one, which is no easy task but £30m and CL should help.

So, Muntari? Not bothered really.
Would like Diarra and I know that it's a squad game and all, but I'm not sure that we haven't got enough in CM already!

Good info though - Cheers.

I think this more and more means Harry will be playing 4-5-1 a bit next year. Which is great, as against the top sides, we’ll need to be able to play more than one formation. I also think this is why he likes Bellamy. Can play out left in a 4-5-1 and up top.

I have every faith from the player's discussed that Harry knows what he's doing!

I read it as Moussa Sissoko!

I'd fancy Dzeko, but have considered the possibility that being a Bosnian Serb might not go down well with our Croat enclave. Having said that, Corluka and Modric played a season in Bosnia, so might not be such a big deal to them, and they seem like open-minded young men. Just an aside that occurred to me, though.

Pal, you're thinking of Sisqo as in 'Let me see that thong'...

----------Dzeko----------
Bellamy---------Lennon

Bale King Dawson Srna

I could live with that....

Hudd can play in either the Modric or Palacios role, and Sandro in for Diarra.

I think we should put a 30m bid in for Rooney for a laugh. Show Man U we are not a selling club anymore.

 'Arry said in his post match interview that a lot of people (I took it he meant the backroom staff) wanted to go defensive and 4-5-1, but he just prefers to attack and that is why he likes a 4-4-2.

On topic: If we want 2 players per position, and assuming the main plan is till for Luka to play on left midfield, one of Diarra and Muntari would make 4 central midfielders. Think I would prefer Diarra, but could live with Muntari.
Most important point, as I said on another thread about players in in the summer, I would like to see the squad kept pretty much intact, sell the deadwood, and make one real marquee signing. A top notch striker would probably be what the team needs most to improve. Have no spefic names, but someone that can compliment our other strikers, AND someone that can actually power headers in from Bentley's superb crossing (when he finally gets them in:grin:), because that has been the main problem since Aaron got crocked: viz. Bentley slows play down, but when he does get a cross in it is usually quality, but there is no Santa-Cruz type forward in their to power onto them.

Having said that, that's just about the smallest midfield 5 in world football!

I hope we dont buy 2 more central mids. Getting greedy only leads to problems. We should have faith in the midfielders we have they've all been immense this season.

£30m striker sounds good though!
