No thread yet, but after today think he warrants one.

Not seen heaps of the Ivorian, but I actually very much like what I have seen. Quick, tough, has good feet and gets his fair share of box goals/headers for a littlish fella.

Looks like a definite upgrade on Defoe to me. I'd take him.

A lot depends on when the photo in question was supposed to have been taken

He was after all in the Ivory Coast on the bench for them during their 2-0 victory over Tanzania on Saturday

As for the player, taller, faster and stronger than Defoe it would seem.

Very impressive scoring record although only in Switzerland and Russia so no guarantee his form would transfer into the English game, plus he's scored only 1 in 19 at international level.

If Defoe was sold for a decent fee and this guy brought in to replace him in ADDITION to an Adebayor/Leandro type I'd be happy enough although we'd still need a cheaper third choice striker to replace Saha as I doubt Defoe would hang around to fill that spot for another year (and now is possibly the last real chance to cash in on him)

To repeat myself from the discussion thread, it was a 5pm ko . There is a 9.45pm flight out of Abidjan that he could have made and picked up a connection to be in London this morning. So not impossible (although you wonder why he would not have waited a day or so)

On Football Manager he becomes one of the worlds best.

I feel this means I know more about him than most of you and therefore must insist incessantly that Levy have this deal done within the next half an hour regardless of fee, wages and extra dimensional Pigmen attacking him.

My sister once dated a guy who played football manager and in his game Rory Delap became a £40m uber striker

Funnily enough, in my last FM game he ended up being signed by Spurs and won them back to back premierships scoring 30+ goals a season.

When I saw that piccy (the one uploaded by KingSellar from his phone, the first, horrible thing I thought was Michael Chopra - and then someone else suggested it :eek::eek:
I suppose it could be Marven Marten (or whatever - reminds me too much of Marvellous Marvin for me to concentrate on the name too much).
So, aside from a picture of a black fella that no-one recognises but some thought might be Doumbia, what actually links are there?

Spursking will cross reference the picture with his scouting database and find a match in no time

If it is him then this gives us a little more insight into why he was in that picture potentially...

From a piece written about him a few years back...

After retiring Rosenthal remained in England with his family and sons, one of whom is on the books at Watford and he has since become a "Football Consultant". A job that Rosenthal explains as;

"I just try to give the best advice for the clubs - not only in England, but abroad. I help them find foreign players. I cannot help them with local players - they know them already - but they know less about players abroad."
