Fuck that, full strength, lets try and win the damn thing. If we get into a comfortable position then change it up. 5 subs allows teams to do just that now.

How often do we actually end up in a comfortable position?

Think squad management is key. We need the full strength team lots of times until the end of the season, give a few a shot to grab a chance as well. As you said we have 5 subs. If its not working we can bring the starters around the 60th minute mark. I am not sure we can rely on Davies playing Wing Back 90 minutes twice a week.
For me Perisic, Sarr and Porro in, maybe even Son or Danjuma to play Richy up front.

Definitley want to win this tasty cup, but a few little changes should not be a deciding factor.

Rotation has to be done, it's just we have done full XIs or close to a full XI being changed in the past and messed up.

Trying not to get too ahead of myself as we have to get through tonight first, however it's hard not to notice who is left if we do go through. Aside from the two Manchester clubs we should be beating everyone left home or away. If United go through tonight v West Ham then best scenario is a Manchester derby in the quarters. This is the first year in a LONG time where I feel like the FA Cup is a realistic, winnable cup for us.
I completely agree. It is a great chance and it’s a fine balancing act.
I think we are strong enough to rotate at wing backs, 1 cm and forwards.
CBs I would keep the same and probs keep hojberg in for experience too, so we can keep a very solid base.
Our attack should be able to do the business with hungry players coming in.
hopefully get a couple of goals up and bring Sun hojberg and Romero to keep them fresh.

It’s funny. So many people complain we don’t rotate and that we get injuries from lack of rotation then go and pick our best first 11 which they will then pick to play against Wolves at the weekend then milan then the league again.
We need to rotate some players, we have a strong squad now let’s use some of it.

I am all for rotation but rotation can also be about making subs at the right time and making sure we rest the likes of say Kane and PEH for say 30 mins. The only difference between my teama nd say most others would be Danjuma for Kane and have Rich and Son (centrally and left side respectively) and maybe a Sanchez - id play Sanchez.

We played a strong side against Nottingham Forest when they were crap and we lost in the Carabao.

Bit of rotation for me. Porro and Perisic come in as WB’s, Sarr comes in for Skipp, Kane and Son on the bench with Ricarlison leading line and Danjuma off the left. Plenty of firepower in the starting line up and plenty on the bench If we have to chase.

Rumours of illness in the Sheffield camp, hopefully they won’t be at their strongest.

FA Cup should be our priority this season and we should tailor our selection accordingly.

There should be no priority other than what the next game is simple as. Why people think we should choose between top 4 and FA Cup is beyond me.

Well yes quite but you won't find people suggesting we 'rest' players against Wolves on the weekend as opposed to the rhetoric against a Championship side in the Cup.

It's a squad game for sure but personally would be much more comfortable us starting strong against Sheffield Utd than having the likes of Sanchez, Tanganga et al play.

Hasn’t Kane been ill himself and we’ve been managing his workload training wise, maybe he sits out this

We have started to build a squad where there is no weakening. We can rotate but still keep a good level of quality in the team. I'd like to see Porro have another run out and keep Richarlison in the team. Other than that, not much needs to change other than maybe Sarr for PEH or Skipp, we hopefully have a lot of football to play for the rest of this season so keeping Skipp and PEH as healthy is going to be key.

If there IS an illness going around the Sheffield camp then i hope we are taking all the necessary precautions as we don't need it spreading to our camp!

I would play a mixed rotation team, adding Porro, Perisic, Son, Danjuma, Sarr maybe Moura.

There's rotation and there's rotation.

In the past we've made wholesale changes and brought in swathes of youngsters and disenfranchised rejects. That kind of rotation is what loses you games.

Bringing in players who have started big games recently like Sarr and Perisic doesn't strike me as a big deal, and I think Sarr deserves a reward for his Milan performance. Porro also surely needs minutes, while does bringing in Son even count as rotation?

I think we should play our first choice back 3 and keep Kane up top, though. Whenever I see Tanganga in the line-up I get a bit concerned and he was abysmal vs Leicester.

Agreed. I dont want Tanganga anywhere near the side.

Sanchez is good enough IMO if you do want to rest Romero.

Son is carrying an injury so might be a risk to start him.

What I always find amusing is that a lot of those who spend all summer banging on and on and on and on and on demanding transfers, arguing about (lack of) squad depth, and emphatically stating things like "it's a long season, plenty of games for everyone", etc etc etc, well when it comes to the crunch never want to change the team and always find a reason as to why it has to be the strongest XI.

Every single campaign this happens, without fail

I can understand this one more than any other, as the FA Cup this year is pretty wide open. Especially if two of us, City and United get drawn together in the quarters. I think we should be going for it this year with who is left.

Yeah and unlike in previous season I actually think we've gone some of the best squad depth in the entire league this season. When we have a fully fit squad our bench is full of talented players and proven internationals and I think it's probably better than that of Arsenal, United, Newcastle and maybe even Liverpool's at the moment. Not many teams can call on the likes of Richarlison, Danjuma, Lucas, Bissouma, Skipp, Porro and the like.

We still lack quality at CB but beyond that if there's ever been a season to actually make use of our squad depth it's probably this one.

Defence absolutely has to be full strength, we saw what happened at Leicester with a change there.

Wing backs can rotate, maybe give Skipp/Hojbjerg a rest for Sarr and give Kane a rest

Thats it though, too much tinkering and we lose this and undo all the good feeling. Will be a bad result going out tonight, there is no need to
