There's a stark difference in 'starting strong' with key components playing which for me would be back 3 (especially Romero) and Kane to some XI's i've seen with Tanganga at LCB and full blown wholesale rotational changes from the Chelsea game.

We've been stung before in games where we've looked to our supposedly strong squad - particularly defensively - and been shown up so why willingly repeat mistakes in a Cup competition that we simply must be looking at to win and not merely an inconvenience between League and European campaigns.

How often do we actually end up in a comfortable position?

Think squad management is key. We need the full strength team lots of times until the end of the season, give a few a shot to grab a chance as well. As you said we have 5 subs. If its not working we can bring the starters around the 60th minute mark. I am not sure we can rely on Davies playing Wing Back 90 minutes twice a week.
For me Perisic, Sarr and Porro in, maybe even Son or Danjuma to play Richy up front.

Definitley want to win this tasty cup, but a few little changes should not be a deciding factor.

I can understand this one more than any other, as the FA Cup this year is pretty wide open. Especially if two of us, City and United get drawn together in the quarters. I think we should be going for it this year with who is left.
The above is all true in isolation, and we all want to take advantage of the FA Cup this year. However, in one week's time we play Milan in the Champions League in a 50/50 tie. We have a chance to go to the CL quarterfinals for only the third time in our history. Milan have the advantage of not playing at all this midweek and are able to rest and train ahead of their league game on Saturday.

Some people might then say that we should rest players in the league game against Wolves, but that is realistically not going to happen for key players such as Romero, Hojbjerg, Kane etc, when we have a very tight top 4 race on our hands.

Everyone is saying that the FA Cup has opened up, but that is also the case for the Champions League. Barca gone, Liverpool gone, PSG or Bayern gone. If we beat Milan next week we have a 3/7 (43%) chance of getting a good draw where we are either favourites or very even - Benfica, Inter/Porto or Dortmund/Chelsea.

I don't want wholesale changes tonight but enough to keep the squad fresh for the entire week.

This is why I am an advocate for few rotations. Nothing major, just a few here and there tonight then Wolves then Milan. Kane can play Wolves and Milan, so leave him out from the XI tonight. Give Porro a run and Emerson a well deserved rest. I'm always cautious of doing to many to stifle the momentum we have built up, but at the same time there are players who do need minutes and game time at some point.

What I always find amusing is that a lot of those who spend all summer banging on and on and on and on and on demanding transfers, arguing about (lack of) squad depth, and emphatically stating things like "it's a long season, plenty of games for everyone", etc etc etc, well when it comes to the crunch never want to change the team and always find a reason as to why it has to be the strongest XI.

Every single campaign this happens, without fail
Do you have Conte in mind here?

We play Wolves in less than 3 days and we have players (some new) chomping at the bit to play. Danjuma and Porro deserve chances to show what they can do. Son and Perisic want time to get into the rhythm again. Lucas and Sanchez probably need minutes. And Sarr needs to keep his levels up as we are one injury away from starting him in every game.

We simply have to rotate quite a bit for this match. And i'm confident we'll have a very strong team with hopefully only a slight dip in cohesion.

Romero is the one we can’t rotate. I think just about everywhere else we can manage, but the dropoff between Romero and Tanganga or Sanchez is simply massive.

we cannot allow him to go to Argentina during the break. Wrap him in cotton

We can afford to bring a few in and still have some real fire power on the bench for this one. Sarr deserves a start after Milan and Porro needs to get going. Danjuma could start on the left and Richarlison at 9. Sanchez has generally been reliable so I'd give Romero a rest. We could have Romero, Skipp, Son, Kane, Davies all on the bench. I do however doubt Stellini will want to risk us going out to a Championship side, so I'm fully expecting a pretty much full strength starting lineup.

Happy to see a little bit of rotation, but I don't want to see anyone starting who I wouldn't want to start a PL game. They will be a PL team next season.

Does a draw mean a replay or extra time? I've heard that from this round onwards it goes straight to ET

I think we make changes where the change is not going to make us noticeably weaker: so Son for Richarlison, Perisic for Davies, Porro for Emerson, Sarr for Skipp. That’s sensible rotation. I think “resting” the likes of Kane (especially) or Romero is much riskier, as we are so much weaker without them and Sheff Utd are good enough to be able to take advantage. This is a good chance to win a Cup and we shouldn’t put that in peril.

I'd bring in Danjuma, Sarr and Porro for Kane, Skipp and Royal, wouldn't change anything else.

Fuck that, full strength and lets try and win the damn thing. If we get into a comfortable position then change it up. 5 subs allows teams to do just that now.

We won't change anything until 70th minute as always though.

Yeah and unlike in previous season I actually think we've gone some of the best squad depth in the entire league this season. When we have a fully fit squad our bench is full of talented players and proven internationals and I think it's probably better than that of Arsenal, United, Newcastle and maybe even Liverpool's at the moment. Not many teams can call on the likes of Richarlison, Danjuma, Lucas, Bissouma, Skipp, Porro and the like.

We still lack quality at CB but beyond that if there's ever been a season to actually make use of our squad depth it's probably this one.

Exactly, it's the first time I have been, relatively happy with the quality of our squad for a while.

The work Paratici has done so far is incredible. Sarr, Porro, Danjuma, Son and Peresic are all due a game.

Get them in, for me it's a question of do we rest the players who play all the time (Kane and Hoijberg) or do we rest the players who have struggled with injuries (Skipp and Richarlison).

I'd give Davinson a game as well, but that's about it. Although it might be better to play Romero if we are playing Porro.

I would completely sack off top four if it meant winning the FA Cup. Would be an incredible moment to see Lloris, Kane, Son lift a trophy in a Spurs shirt.
