I don't know if anyone watched tonight, but it was a replay of a 'classic' match between spurs and the scum...the 2-2 draw when they won the league.

The team was obviously different in personel than today, but there was a decent amout of quality. From what I can remember the following players all played:

Keane
Defoe
Kanoute
Poyet
Brown
Redknapp (captain)
King
Gardner
Tarrico
Davies

Not as bad as they looked, especially considering keane, kanoute of today, and Poyet was a good player. Kings always been quality.

Some nice play, but not like what were treated to today. Speed was absent, terrible at defending (a gardner pass to Henry was comical) and no fancy enterprise with what we have today.

By contrast Henry, Pires, Viera (i hate them all...but respect them) were interchanging brilliantly. There first goal though, something that was all about arsenal (a break from one of our corners) had me wondering if we could score a goal like that. To be honest, the answer is yes. Thats just how we can break on and tear apart teams today. The only noticeable difference between their team on that day and our team of today is that they can stroke the ball around better, with quicker and more accurate passing. That said, that Arsenal team would beat their team of today.

So all in all, I thought I'd write this terrible long post to say, we don't really have it too bad at all. We play some brilliant football, and it takes a step back in the past sometimes, to realize how far we've come in four years.

I love supporting this club.

I watch a lot of football, because the tv station I got shows almost every premier league game. Every weekend there are about 6-8 games showed live. And when I see games like Wigan - Reading or Derby - Birmingham, I realize just how good we are and how things could be much, much worse.

Our team was poor then. The midfield and defence was pathetic - only King and Kanoute would get anywhere near this seasons 1st tieam.

That Arsenal team was amazing. People talk about Henry, but for me Pires was the most technically gifted player they had.

Tarrico was in our team in 2004?

There is our answer then. It's a long road we've come.

I think you will find that Defoe and Keane were in this season's first team :duh:

Rush goalie.....?

haha, i forgot who a couple of the players were. Stephen Kelly was playing (leftback?) and I cant remember who the keeper was. I'd guess at Keller? The mainpoint though, was that our style has changed so dramatically. And from my memories this spurs team pissed on the one about 6 years before (before le gin came)....I went to a spurs vs west ham home game and it was the most dreadfull match. Barely a chance each, spurs won 1-0 and hammers hit the crossbar with their chance. Compared to that were blessed.

Ahh the good ole days when teams didn't field keepers...

Obviously the team in 2004 had better qualities than our current team, ie then King wasn't as injury prone, and Kanoute was playing some decent stuff.

You'd definitely take those two things with King and Kanoute if they were offered to us today!
