One of Gil or Johnson has to come off. Can't carry both of them with this little of the ball and the defensive work. I think Gil has been more involved with some nice touches but he hasn't got the pace against Walker to make it a contest at least in a foot race.
TBF I don't think anyone has.

Think Gil has been pretty bright especially with no real out balls.

If you consider the injury crisis we have it’s a bit disappointing that we don’t feel there are any youth worthy of a chance. Despite the endless promises i think our academy has been underwhelming given the supposed investment in it.

Just out of curiosity why is the pundit/commentary team made up of man city/Utd and Liverpool ex players, zero spurs or even southern teams representation and why caragher AND neville? 🤔

Not for this thread.

As long as its only 1 goal advantage to City i dont Ange will put on Donley, Santiago and Dorrington. Hope i am wrong.
I say fuck it. We've been really lucky let's be honest and I think a fair few on here would bet on us being 4-1 down in the 50th minute.

Neville seems to be willing spurs to fail this season. He’s so negative about us. No mention of the injuries as mitigation.
💯 it’s weird , he never used to be so anti spurs but something has changed as you say this season especially he is very biased against us in his commentary.

At times a valiant effort. At times clinging on for dear life. But at times not playing smart.

We've just gone 1-0 up. Immediately Udogie is under massive pressure on the flank, gets out of it but has no out ball.... just drop it in over the top, turn them round and get organised. Instead he puts himself back under pressure trying to play out and we end up giving away the freekick we concede from.

Sometimes just do the fucking smart thing, you've just gone in front. Let the emotion die down, clear your heads, don't give them any opportunity back straight away. A few times at the end their City were happy to just welly it forward out of a tight spot, managing the end of the half. We should have done similarly.

Saying that, we've put some nice play together at times building from the back. Also rode our luck with some calamitous stuff, it has to be said. Emerson, Bissouma, Udogie have all struggled quite a bit and/or been sloppy, and Gil misses the opportunity to see a potential pass/chance every single time unfortunately.

All we can do is keep plugging away here and see what happens ultimately. The real kicker has been throwing away the Wolves game, and then getting burgled by Villa, in the proceeding weeks.

It's been proper "hide behind the sofa" stuff at times but there's only one goal in it and it's not like we've had no chances. Sonny got a knock half way through the first half, all I want from here on is no injuries, no penalties, no reds, no suspensions. Ange said discipline was an area that needed improving so hopefully it's something they've been working on.

Also, I can't believe Chelsea was only 3 games ago. It feels like a lifetime.

It's frustrating at the moment because we keep giving away poor goals. But having said that, even away at City with a decimated side, we have played some of the best football I've seen at Spurs.

That passage of play where Cara and Neville were saying we need to play it long whilst we sliced through them from back to front was unbelievable.

It's hard not to feel impatient wanting the weaker aspects of game to be as good as that. I honestly think in a couple of seasons we will see something really special.
Totally agree, and I would be thinking that’s exactly why Ange thinks his football is the best way to win matches.

The lack of attacking the last 10 minutes came from Deki having to come deep to receive the ball because Bissouma is not able to take anything on the half turn today. Suddenly there's a huge gap between our back line and attackers and we have no options. Our entire attacking system is built on that number 6 being confident and decisive on the ball. Need the best of Yves this half or we're losing by 5

Some of our forward play has been a joy to watch. We are not going to win many games with Davies and Royal at CB. Enjoy the forward play for what it is, we’ll be an incredible team when we have our starters back and Ange gets a few windows to work his magic.

He always is. I wish I could turn off the Sky commentators like you can with Amazon. They are awful to listen, and sounded gutted when we took the lead

There's a case for that imo over him playing in midfield, but wherever he'd come on including CM he's still a square peg with how Ange wants us to play.

I'm actually a fan of PEH btw and in Italy or for someone like Athletico I think he'd be a very good player again.
But stil we are looking at "sideway pass" Philips in January if we should believe the papers :S
but i agree, was dreaming of Bentancur and Bisouma, but that wo'nt happen for a long time so maybe PEH can do a job when we are pushed back atleast. it is not like we pass out any better at the moment anyway

Just playing the devils advocate

- Davies is a senior international with hundreds of PL appearances
- Royal is a Brazilian international signed for £20m from one of the best sides in Spain
- Bryan was a £20m/£40m signing depending on how much you value Lamela and someone who’s done well in spells in Spain
- GLC was a £45m signing and currently in the Argentinian squad that won the WC 12 months ago

they’re definitely drop offs on 1st team but shouldn’t we be expecting more from players of this calibre?
