If he's not putting effort in, no coach is gonna want that. Who knows how he's been training, has he been applying himself or not? There is not gonna have been much trust built up based on the performances and effort that I've seen. He needs to earn the trust. If you can't get on the pitch when there are five subs allowed and every player on the pitch is blowing out of their arse, it's time to accept reality. The coach doesn't want you.
The 3-0 we won 2-1?
Lost for words though that some are fine with the performance.
2 out of 5 subs in a game nothing worked in 2nd half. Throw in Sess for Son, Tanguy for Kane and Skipp for Winks. Fresh legs, but tbh... the way we set up nothing would have really happened.
Ndombele is an attacking player. He offers nothing in defence.
We had 3. The average shots on target per team in a game is 4.5. So we had a bit lower than average. The average goal per shot on target rate is around ever 2 to 3 shots. Our average this season is 4.4 shots on target per game, which puts us 8th in the league. So 3 shots on target is pretty normal. Man utd have an average of 5.7 SOT a game, they got 5 in this game so also were below average.De Gea made a nice save on Son's header. Can't think of another.
I think what the match did confirm is that it is very unlikely we will be making a run to 5th place.
What’s there? Genuine question. Every time I’ve seen him the best he can manage is to control a pass, and make a safe pass that slows things down. He doesn’t play killer passes, run past his man, cross the ball particularly well, look comfortable in possession, get in dangerous positions or offer any physical threat, and he’s only about 20 months younger than Bergwijn.
If he played for the opposition, I’d be reasonable happy to see him on the pitch
Even that is deceptive, as all of the goals came within 6 minutes of each other towards the end of the game. They actually dominated possession that game, but didn't create an awful lot, while we panicked them with a high press. That was peak Poch, before people learnt how to contain us and when we were a young team able to run all day!Shit yeah I was thinking of the 3-0 the season before with the Lamela third goal. Point still stands though I suppose
Yes, but he is not an 'outlet' either. Lo Celso offers similar things going forward, while being very good defensively too. Ndombele has a lot of ability. But at the moment he can only be used well in very particular situations. They didn't appear today.Ndombele is an attacking player. He offers nothing in defence.
Me too - night and day comparison the way the team performed then to the way it does nowIt’s really making me upset
Mind you Man Utd didn’t look all that. They’ll definitely drop some points in the next few games. If we get it down to a couple of points with 4 games left, it’ll be interesting.
He is a midfielder stop being on the windup. You know exactly what Jose was saying and he is 100% correct.
You can actually make changes in midfield to improve the attack too. Even by changing full backs.
God what would i do for prime dembele who wins and transports the ball 30m on his own.
To an extent I agree, but if you take the last 10 or so games in to account we have been awful. I was hoping for a bit of positivity tonight but unfortunately our manager wants to stop other teams from playing football rather letting our team play. It’s painful to watch. Good or bad - we’ve always had an identity- sadly we don’t seem to have one anymoreI think some of the comments on this thread tonight have been way over the top, anyone reading them would have thought we'd been beaten 4-0 at home, and were awful in defence.
I think a bit of context and perspective is needed.
That was the first game back after 3 months and I didn't see the shambolic defending that I was seeing before lockdown with errors all over the place.
Granted Kane was well off the pace, but FFS that was his first game back after 6 months out. What did we really expect ?
United were not there for the taking and had an extremely strong line up and bench.
Not our best performance but by no means our worst. We battled well and drew against a team who will probably win most of their remaining games.
