I know and fully appreciate that it's churlish to say it, but from where we are tonight all I care about is finishing above Arsenal. If we do that then I'll be a happy bunny, but if the unthinkable happens and they somehow overtake us in the next 3 games then my overriding emotional response to the season will be disappointment, which my brain knows isn't the rational way to think about things, but which I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't feel that way.

Come on Spurs, one last push and let's prove that we are objectively and unarguably better than the Woolwich scum for the first time in 20 years. Better than the Goons or bust now, for me.

Calm down. Arsenal aren't going to beat City. They probably won't beat Norwich at the weekend.
Unfortunately I think Arsenal will beat Norwich and(obviously) Villa. Suddenly our remaining games look more than tricky , add to that a likely suspension for Alli . There has been so much emphasis on the rather unlikely scenario of catching Leicester that there is a danger that the remaining matches will feel a bit flat, despite the importance of getting the 4 points we need for 2nd.

Horrific thought. I'd never hear the end of it. :(

Trying to stay positive but it's tough.

Fear we won't get a chance like this for a while. Chelsea and City will open up their cheque books over the summer and order will be restored. Gutted.

If you had offered me 2nd behind Leicester at the start of the season I would have bitten your hand off. Just need to hold onto 2nd spot now!! Holding onto 2nd will go such along way to keeping the squad intact.

Exactly, the only thing arsenal are fighting for is a war between themselves, their players are feeding off of that. I'm worried about city though.

The main objective has always been Champions League Qualification since the beginning of the season & we have all but virtually secured that, 3 more points will guarantee our place in that competition & quite likely 2nd spot too.

We haven't had the most outstanding of seasons tho have we if were totally honest ? We started very poorly, after 4 games we only had 3 points on the board - some people forget that, we lost 2 & drew 8 out of our first 19 PL games - the 2nd half of the season we have only drawn 3 & lost just twice. So many points were dropped in the first half of the season but it is without doubt the only reason we are so far up the ladder this year because so many top teams have dropped so many points when they wouldnt normally of done.

Yes we will be stronger next season, but whether a points tally of less than 80 points takes the title again i doubt very much.

Not sure if you are serious. regardless of how many points it will take to win the league this season , we are SECOND and have only lost 4 times this season. To say its not been an outstanding season is plain silly in my book. 2nd in the league. Outplaying most of our rivals with he youngest average age. The lowest points total means teams are much closer and anyone can beat anyone. Have some perspective and enjoy that we are second and actually gave it a go trying to with the league. Can you honestly say we have ever been this close in the premier league era?

It is great being second in the league with still an outside possibility of winning the league, which i'm sure most would agree is probably now out of reach - but had we had a better first half of the season we would of won the league, we have played some fantastic football for 60% of the season, which is more than any of the other stellar clubs can say, but in comparison with Leicester City's season they have been the team from day one. Well done to them on their fantastic achievement.

One thing i am enthusiastic about though has to be next season, the title was just outside of our grasp this year but next season i fully expect us to have a proper tilt at it & battle point for point, match for match in the Pochettino Way from day one of the season - hopefully we will be a position like Leicester were this season with 5 games to go where it is in our hands to win, not hoping for other teams to slip up or having to watch players & managers of other teams publicly stating that they want a particular team other than their own out of just pure spite - to me that is bring the good name & integrity of the game into disrepute.

Thought about it over night. I couldn't say "slept on it" because i hardly slept i was so angry and disappointed. What is the point of "staying positive" when we have "imploded" as it says on the back page of The Times?
We had a chance of winning the league this season and a great opportunity to make it virtually certain we will finish second and we threw both away.
I said all along i could cope with us losing it if we didn't throw it away ourselves. That is exactly what we have done.

I'm not staying positive. That was the most disatorous game I've seen in 47 years watching Spurs.
Out greatest chance to win the league. All I asked is that we didn't muck it up ourselves and made Leicester win it if they were going to win it but we couldn't do that.
Feel as if the months of hope and traipsing around the country were a waste of time.
A win would have secure 2nd in effect but now a good chance we will finish below Arsenal.

You belong in one of those ArseMania threads. After the season we've had I would take this situation every time.

Man Utd 'opened up their chequebook' to the tune of 250m to try to restore order. All it did was make things worse. Conte could quite easily be worse than Van Gaal.

Finding it hard to stay positive, yes we've had a great season. But I was so disappointed with our reaction to losing the lead last night. We should have been battering their door down for a goal, but we were so causal. We went down with a whimper, and to West fucking Brom.

Gutting.

All of a sudden second doesn't look so secure. I don't mind not winning the title, but I don't like losing it like this.

Not winning it this year might give Poch more of an incentive to stay, to finish what he's started!! If we'd won it this year, there's not much loftier heights to scale and he might have caved in to the temptation of managing a big European superpower club, because let's face it he's not gonna be short of offers

In August did any of you think we'd be in the title in April? Yes it's disappointing after last night. But, I would've taken this in a heartbeat. Highest league finish in my lifetime will undoubtedly be a major positive. Hopefully Poch and the players use this experience to learn from for next year and years to come. We have a young squad full of potential. The future is bright.

It's disappointing to be out of the title race of course but to he honest it was always an outside bet

My main concern now is that we finish strong and consolidate second place to secure automatic CL qualification

Had we won last that would have been in the bag

Now we have to go to Stamford Bridge and if we drop points again we will be under pressure as arsenal have 2 easy games and city are finishing strong

I'm just looking to see our boys show what they are made of and step up despite the disappointment to finish what they've starred and set us up as well as possible for next year

We've got 3 fairly tough fixtures coming up, we need 6 points (possibly just 4 really) from those. We can do it, we should do it. I think this team has proven enough this season that they're not mentally weak and vulnerable to colopase after a set back and I don't expect them to do so this time either

COYS - secure the CL and let's keep building

Get a grip of yourselves before the season started and we hadn't signed a striker everyone was reeling and going mental saying how 'we're not even going to make top 6' and now some posters in here not all just a minority are saying we are going to finish below arsenal and not challenge next year or even make top 4 next year! Has this season not taught you anything?

I refuse to be critical of this spurs side because I was one of those fans feeling underwhelmed when we didn't sign a striker or a big name before the season and never did I expect to see this transformation in the youngest team in the league! Im grateful to have one of the brightest managers in the game managing the club I support, to have my spurs back after years of utter dross and broken lazy squads under avb and sherwood!

I do understand the feeling of being gutted right now because I have that feeling too! but theres a couple of posts in here that have annoyed me.

I am proud to be a spurs fan right now. coys

Take a bow.

Spot fucking on.
