We can still win. All we need is for an actual miracle.

Still a brilliant season. I love watching Spurs again. I never fear 5-1 drubbings anymore from the likes of City. We have a solid defence, with no reason for that to not continue into the new season. We have such a young and talented squad and I don't expect players to leave this window, which is a massive bonus when compared to always fearing that our best players will leave at the end of the season. I genuinely expect next season to be another thriller no matter what our competition does or the players they buy.

Our squad is settled and Poch really has given us an identity, one that you really can get behind as a fan and as a player. We are hard to beat and exciting to watch which isn't always an balance to execute. Another positive is that signing this window should be straight forward. We need CM backup for Dembele and particularly Dier. Those 2 positions are so key to this setup and I sadly just don't feel mason or Carroll fulfill that role well enough to be first choice back up. I also feel we need a striker but that's so obvious. I think it's going to be tough getting someone who's keen to compete with Kane but hopefully the increased tough matches we will have in champs next season and just exposure to champs in general should be enough to lure a player. Saying all this it's just nice having a transfer window coming up where no massive rebuilding needs to occur and its almost like anyone that comes in is just an added bonus to an already solid foundation.

Love this team so much and can't wait to see where we go from here.

The main objective has always been Champions League Qualification since the beginning of the season & we have all but virtually secured that, 3 more points will guarantee our place in that competition & quite likely 2nd spot too.

We haven't had the most outstanding of seasons tho have we if were totally honest ? We started very poorly, after 4 games we only had 3 points on the board - some people forget that, we lost 2 & drew 8 out of our first 19 PL games - the 2nd half of the season we have only drawn 3 & lost just twice. So many points were dropped in the first half of the season but it is without doubt the only reason we are so far up the ladder this year because so many top teams have dropped so many points when they wouldnt normally of done.

Yes we will be stronger next season, but whether a points tally of less than 80 points takes the title again i doubt very much.

Yes but if we perform more like the second half of the season (there has been clear growth in teamwork, understanding and mentality since the start) we will be on for a higher points total than 80 anyway. Average winning total for a 38 game season is 85.7 points. By your stats we have averaged 2.25 points per game in the second half of the season, which equates to 86 points. Not to mention the fact that the totals required for the title are likely to reduce going forward without any super teams (aside from possibly Pep's Man City in a year or two) and more competitive sides outside of the top 6.

This team is capable of above 80 points next season if they stay together and stay hungry (which should be a given). After all this is the 'lets be positive' thread.

Edit: the stats were wrong unfortunately, second half of the season is P16 W10 D4 L2 so 2.125 per game which is 80.75 points :confused: However if you go to the last 19 (after the Newcastle loss which felt like a turning point) that PPG goes up to 2.26 which is 86 points (y)

Not the beginning of the end for this team or challenging for the title, but more of an end of the beginning of us being a consistent force in both the league and Europe. With Poch at the helm and the best youth and scouting set up in the country we have every reason to be confident in our future.

How have we 'imploded' exactly?
When we lost to Leicester we were 7 points worse off than them.
Fast forward 14 games and we are still 7 points worse off than them despite having a far tougher run of fixtures and let's not forget they have been absolutely top notch in their game management and churning out results week in week out.
The media really are a joke at times but the real joke are the poor old souls who buy into it every single time.

Its been a fantastic season but if we finish below Arsenal I will just give up hope on this football club.

Well they have finished above us for the last 20 fucking years why say that now when it looks like the football landscape is changing.
Things go in cycles and whilst last night is a bit hard to take Im sure the future is going to be brighter, we wont always be the bridesmaid.

What if Man city and Liverpool win the euro comps and we finish 4th with Man City outside of the top four?

What kind of thread will be made then?

This would require ManU to win all four (71pts)
& Arsenal to win all 3 (73);
and us to lose all three (69);
and City to win 3 more CL games
and Liverpool to win 3 more EL games

Crazy odds if anyone morbid enough about our chances fancies an accumulator!

Ive wondered for a while why so many didn't want us to win the league, then I read some of the comments in here and im reminded exactly why

Ultimately I can't help thinking the most positive thing is that us sitting second at this stage is seen by so many people as a negative thing!

The league is effectively beyond us now. With this in mind, I wouldn't be disappointed to see Leicester get something at OT on Sunday - a result that will guarantee a top 4 place. With that pressure off, I think we would really enjoy our remaining fixtures and fare well in them.

Realistically we need 1 more win to finish 2nd (assuming City and Arsenal win their games and draw with each other). A draw and a win also secures 1st placed runners up!

Actually think we will only need 1 more point to finish above Arsenal as think City will beat them (and need to beat them for their own top 4 ambitions). Even with Villa at home last game of the season, they wouldn't better our GD.

For a team so young, playing so well who the fuck can complain?

Those who do have to seriously take a look at themselves in the mirror, and will likely see this in the reflection...

Winning the league would be a dream come true, but I think I would much prefer it against strong competition. Getting our highest ever league finish without breaking our PL points record says it all really. In terms of Premier League history I don't think you can really claim we would be worthy champions this season. The best of an awful bunch, maybe, and there's no glory in that imo.

Our progress over the last 10 years has been steady and considered, and has us perfectly placed to become hugely successful. I doubt that winning the league this season was ever part of the plan and failing to do so won't affect us negatively at all. I think our real aim should be to make this our last season out of the CL.

If we keep doing what we have been doing then we'll have plenty of titles coming our way over the next couple of decades, I'm sure of it.

What? Any league win would be amazing. We can't be picky! I have been waiting 47 years!

Think for me the positivity is we are ahead of schedule... This season is a very good pre-enrollment foundation class for everyone from top to bottom of the club in challenging for title.. The experience will be vastly priceless for these young lads and definitely will help in the coming UCL games as well..

More importantly, I think Poch learns too.. That is hugely paramount, as ranieri seriously has lost out too much as a 2nd missus in his career that he has grown to being so irritatingly wise his mind games are the best in the league now IMO, until mourinho is back.. Fuckers.. Poch will no doubt better managed his emotions for some good use next season..

Club wise, I expect to see more drumming up of our credentials to be a force if we really are a side partaking in the title run early.. Build it into the beliefs of the players.. Just gotta do it.. Off fields prep works are just as crucial.. Don't be afraid of getting mocked by others.. We are a club hated by many any ways.. So why limit to their small time chides..
