Would definitely start Eriksen here, get his fitness up etc.

I honestly think Kane needs a rest, so Chadli up top - and I wouldn't start him against City. And Dier is crucial for the City game as we'll be doing a lot of defending.

We still want a strong team out though but lets use the squad a bit to and I hope Mason is back, with that in mind:

Lloris

Trippier
Toby
Jan
Rose

Carroll
Mason

Son
Lamela
Erisken

Chadli

We want that three in behind increasing their understanding and building on what we saw today.

I like the look of that side, Arsenal won't offer a physical threat, more a technical one...so that side looks pretty good to me.
Rest Kane?? Against the scum? I wouldnt forgive pochettino.

Tough call this, the fbs should be rested , and Eriksen and Townsend should play. The rest are all up in the air imo

What if he plays and picks up an injury due to fatigue and we lose anyway? The chance of injury significantly increases when players haven’t had a chance to recover and 1 day in between game days isn't enough.

The Citihad game should be the main focus so we need to rest a few for the Goons game.

Its a no brainer.

No brainer is to keep the momentum going. So, IMO its logical to put the strongest team possible (with may be couple of changes). Last thing we need is lose momentum. If we win over Arsenal, who knows our players could go to another level with City.

Last season, we put a weakened lineup against Florentina - lost the game. Then in the weekend, lost the cup to Chelsea and week after another loss in the league. In space of 10 days we lost our way in season. We could only recover in May month to an extent.

So, field the best possible team Vs Arse - win the game. When team is winning, fatigue doesn't set in the group.

I guess the difference is - I am not "expecting" 4th, and am not going to call for Poch's head if we miss out. But, a team of our caliber/stature should always be trying to finish top-4.

Liverpool are struggling badly right now, but do you think they are not shooting for top-4?

You don't attract, and keep, quality players by finishing mid-table. If we truly do not expect to challenge for the top spots in the table, we should have sold Lloris and Kane...they are not here to play in 3rd Round League Cup games.
We're 6th richest club, won the league twice in our history, champions league once, 4th twice, don't have a great deal of money to spend.

In an ideal world I'd want us to go for the title every season rather than getting a runners up spot but that's not realistic. I just want to see us do the best we can, if we do our best I can't ask for any more than that and will accept any league placing that comes as a result of that.

I think we should accept that we can't keep our best players, Kane is young he'll stay around for a bit but Lloris I'd expect him to leave soon. I'm not going to go into another ENIC/Levy discussion but he has admitted that he needs the stadium as in his view it will be a game changer and allow us to compete with clubs richer than us.

In my view if you have the right scouting system in place, we can identify talent early, then the impact of our best players leaving is lessened.

My XI

Lloris
Trippier, Toby, Jan, Rose
Dier, Mason
Son, Lamela, Eriksen,
Kane

If Mason isn't fit, I would start Alli. If not, with Mason, we would get the much needed tenacity against Arsenal. Alli has taken penalties for MK Dons - so would bring him after 60 minutes for Mason/Dier.

I know things could go sour - but am far more up for this game today than 15 days ago when the fixture was announced

We don't need our full strength team for Arsenal. Cazorla (C) and Gabriel are both on red and they will most likely opt to give their youth a run out. It is also likely they don't intend to take this competition seriously, given their current state of affairs.

Our young players are better and a lot further in their development than theirs. Giving some of ours a run out too isn't a bad idea.

Hard call this one, they played a day before us. We need to rotate a bit but keep the basics.

LLoris

Walker - Aldeiwereld - Verts - Davies

---------Dier --------------Ali---------------

Lamela--------------Eriksen----------Son

---------------------N'jie---------------------

i know where you're coming from but he looks a bit tired to me.

It's hard to tell with Kane as he's kind of a lumbering player, whether fully fit or not. Saying that if we had another genuine striker I'd probably opt to rest Kane. I think Kane would benefit from a goal or 2 more than a rest at this point personally, but then again, he is our only striker and for that reason we need to be more careful with him so I get your point. I'm rather undecided.

Lloris

Tripper Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose

Dier Mason

Townsend Eriksen Clinton

Kane

Mason and Carrol just looks too lightweight in the middle for me and to be honest Dier is a player who I really want to see rested but I don't know who else I'd put in. Dembele would have been perfect for this game.

Or this:

Lloris

Tripper Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose

Dier Mason

Clinton Eriksen Chadli

Kane
