Dier will be a mainstay of Jose's team going forward (until if or when he is upgraded)....Winks and N'dombele will be in direct competition alongside him imo...

If he’s not staying, I’d just drop Eriksen entirely. No point wasting a spot on the bench.
The only reason at all to waste any time on him, is if we are having an injury crisis. So, if he's made it clear he doesn't intend to stay, he shouldn't be anywhere near the first team squad, or even train with them, for that matter. Why waste resources on someone who doesn't want to be here, and we don't need.

Now, the CBs are a different story. As we don't have the luxury to cast them out. Just not enough cover. I also get the sense both of them are more willing to stay.

I would also add that neither of them have completely shut down and stopped trying. Eriksen has been an imposter of his old self for over a year. For fear of getting hurt, i'd imagine, and therefore limit his chances of his dream move.

Last time I was this annoyed at a want-away play's attitude was Berba. He acted like a little bitch until he got what he wanted. But I can at least say for him that his standards never dropped. Eriksen though, has been an absolute piss take for months now. So, unless Jose knows something different, why spend a second of time and energy on this guy, who is giving less than 20% back.

This is what I want to see (not what Jose will pick):

Gazza
Foyth - Sanchez - Toby/Jan - Rose/Sess
Dier
Ndombele - Lo Celso
Son - Kane - Alli

/ = possible injury concerns

Score some goals, then get the front 3 off.

If the way we set up against West Ham is the way we're going to play and not just the way we're going to play for now, it feels to me that our squad is a bit bloated in some positions and doesn't have enough depth in others.

Like pretty much everyone, I'd like to see Ndombele and Lo Celso get a chance tomorrow, but beyond that I'm not fussed.

Honestly I would say I don’t have a clue about Mourinho’s game to game management besides the obvious (low block counter attacking in big games) but he’s supposedly changed his style in the last yearso I think we should wait and see how he’s really going to approach managing us game to game.

Gazzaniga
Foyth Sanchez Toby Rose
Skipp Winks
Lucas Dele Son
Kane

Austin, Sessegnon, Aurier, Dier, Sissoko, Lo Celso, Parrott

Dier looked fucked by the 70th minute Saturday yet continued on so I think he’ll come off the bench in this. With Jose’s system, he usually lets 1 FB sit back while the other goes forward. Davies is out so Rose starts and he would obviously be the one to go forward so I believe he’ll start Foyth at RB and potentially act as a 3rd CB at times.

I think the extra pace and creativity is important to break them down. And it's also necessary for Jose to be able to evaluate the whole squad under match conditions.

Get your reasoning, it’s not the way I would go let’s see what happens I suppose

Mourinho has never been afraid to make drastic changes quickly if the team is set up wrong. With Poch whatever happened, however bad we played first half, he would always give the same players the responsibility of making amends second half. And after 70 minutes when it was still not working, He would then eventually make a 'like for like' substitution. Based on his career ti date I would be amazed if we do not see quicker remediation of issues under Mourinho. What we will see that is more 'negative' is that when we play a decent team away the whole focus will be on stopping the opponents and looking to nick a goal, as opposed to taking them on and trying to outplay them (as was typically Poch's approach). Also, I think Mourinho will rest players more quickly when a game is won. First hour against West Ham Dele was ou best player. We go 3-0 up and Jose pulls him off. Not because he was playing badly, but because he wants Dele fresh for tonight's game. And then next one. I woudl not be surprised to see Kane hauled off a few times this season once games are won. Keeping him fit and fresh is essential and Poch used to leave him on the full 90 whatever happened.

Have you ever been this excited before against a team from Greece?

Just some nice gourmet food before the game, some beers and straight to the pub.

I sure I haven't.

COYS!
