Leading world Test wicket taker in 2018 (or some 12 month period, can't remember exactly), much better batter than Swann, and didn't quit half way through an Ashes series.
Harsh...I’m ITK on Swann wanting to quit before the series but the ECB not letting him.

EDIT: And if you’ve seen the Edge film he pretty much says it anyway.

EDIT #2: If you haven’t seen the Edge film it’s worth a watch just for the amount of times Steve Finn says “fuck”.

I can't say that I agree with one good year getting you into that team. And I strongly disagree that he's much better than Swann. Out of interest I just looked, amazingly they both played 60 test matches.......Ali kills Swann for batting but Swann easily outbowls Ali and given the names in that batting line up I'm not sure Moeen is needed for his prowess with the willow. Look at me being all crickety......

Although like you, I didn't have much respect for how he walked out of the Ashes like that.......

He said better batter not better better

Marnus whatshisface seems like a talented batsman.

but the extent to which he’s trying to be Steve Smith is pathetic. and as for this Aussie habit of having bubblegum through your innings. bloody hell, they didn’t need to do much more to be the most arrogant annoying sports team around.

Hang about mate. Virat Kohli and the great Sir Vivian Richards enjoyed a chew. (y)
As for arrogance, as of right now he has scored the most runs of anyone this calendar year, although Smith may go past tomorrow.
He is averaging about 68 this year.
As a side note, he is known as a little different compared to most cricketers. Some may say a little "weird".
I think he is fantastic.

I don't think we'll know until the end of the second day, but they are 9 wickets down, so a little early to reach that conclusion.

true just feel if you put them in first and considering they were 120 for 5 we could have restricted them to under 250

I don't think we're going to be able to pass judgement on the decision to field because we haven't used the second day pitch with much competence, and gawd knows what would have happened if we'd batted yesterday. Maybe that's why we put them in!

bat first, bowl first, it really doesn’t matter to this team. the majority of the players just aren’t very good at test cricket.

142-3 to 181 a/o is disappointing when it happens to a team once. When it happens more often than not it’s a disease.

This is time for Archer to step up, he’s bowled pump since the end of the Ashes. And his batting is a myth.

I've never known England to have a more inept batting line up, and I remember the 90's.
I've never know England to have a more inept and uninspiring captain than Root.
This current team is a shambles.

i don’t know why we would expect anything different - its pretty much the same bunch of players for 5 years, who don’t play much 4 day county cricket, a captain who has no captaincy experience and no clue, and a ‘new’ coach who was part of the last failed test regime.

nothing seemingly coming through from county cricket, or at least no chances being given. people with terrible form seem to be on lifelong England contracts and are automatic picks.
