good to see Vince again ??
None of the top three have covered themselves with glory here, singling out Vince is a past time of many on here and elsewhere.

Rather he wasn't in the England set up, always turns it on when Hampshire need him

no, but the other 2 are world cup winning opening batsmen who have more than covered themselves in glory for the past 4 or 5 years, so can be forgiven the odd poor performance.

whereas Vince is very good county player who has been a major disappointment time after time in an England shirt in my opinion.

at least we agree we’d rather he wasn’t in the England setup.

Yeah, he's better off out of it. Love him averaging 70 odd in the one day stuff for Hants, same in the 20/20 - better out of the spot light with the 'boys club' types.

He got his world cup winners medal at least - being part of the squad will do that for you.

;)

great stats for Hants - I guess its his suspect temperament that stops him performing with the big boys.

Billings looking good here, making the rest of the batsmen today look very ordinary, the guy has some serious class

Nah, he's been clutch for Hants. He was clutch in the game for the England Lions before this game. Shocked he started this game if I am honest - Denly will be back next game, we can all pretend he doesn't have the same issues ;)

Always does against the slower bowlers, engine room for Kent in the one day stuff along with Alex Blake, really good to watch.

How does he do in the Big Bash? Every time I happen to see him I hope he's going to shine but he doesn't seem to do so; have I just caught him on unlucky days?

Couple of 50's in there I thought? Same in the PSL?

I won't stop defending him, but his bed is made. Sooner he's out of this the better. Hampshire are a better team with him and Dawson in than out.

That was an easy enough win. Hopefully the second game is more interesting.

he’s looked very good. there’s a good player in there, hasn’t quite clicked for him yet. he’s looked good since his injury though.

Played more ODI's than Vince at a worse average before today's knock ... Hasn't clicked for him, but Vince takes the boot on a regular basis amongst fans.

yea strange one. maybe not everyone judges purely on stats. sometimes players get more leeway from fans because they can see either potential, a good mentality, willingness to learn and adapt etc. i can see that with Billings, particularly since his injury.

Vince on the other hand has been utterly figured out at international level amd either doesn’t have the capability or willingess to adapt. either way, as we both have already agreed, he’d be better off out of the England setup for everyones sake.

I'd say you're on the wind up now. Blokes got bags of potential. I'll pass on talking to a troll when it comes to cricket if I am honest, bad enough when it comes to football, but you're talking bollocks to a degree.

ha, OK. I think I remember from other encounters with you that you don’t like anyone with a differing opinion.

given my background in high level cricket and cricket coaching, I’d say I’m well enough qualified to pass an opinion without being called a ‘troll’.

take it easy ?

I have no issue with differing opinion but to suggest Vince doesn't have potential ...

As for the rest of that above, lol do me a favour.

Stick to trolling the kids in the football forum.

Please don't. This is the cricket thread and we don't do pissing contests.

** I'm Level 2 ECB for coaching and I played Minor Counties cricket as a kid (EDIT: "kid"...I was 19 for fuck sake) against some big names who went on to much better things than I did :cautious:

Lets be honest, Billings and Vince are both busted flushes at International level, difficult to argue either has "potential" when they are both already close to 30. Both got poor averages at international level and both only playing because of injuries/people in the Test bubble. Move on.

I wouldn't worry about it, that was yesterday, now it's today, they're just words and as far I'm concerned I'll move on.

Debate around players always happens in here, the records speak for themselves and Vince doesn't push on often enough when he gets his chance, which is a shame for me, but not for a lot of others

Moving on from this, if Denly's back is good to go tomorrow I would have thought he comes in, they stick with Banton and move forward.
