Yeah Leandro is probably the best we could realistically hope for anyway, so.....just maybe, you never know.

£4m was talked about in press, surely we have that in cash reserves / available funds, if loc is for a player more likely record signing IMHO

For cashflow reasons, I would suspect all of our transfers are done this way.

The same way that I put my lunch on my credit card. It doesn't cost me anything extra to pay it off in two weeks time, when I know I have the cash.

I bet it ends up being a shitload of metal and/or other commodity from overseas for the stadium construction.

General doMestic business to business trade usually comes with 30/60/90 day terms.

These letters of credit are usually used in import and export.

So for foreign goods which a player would be categorized as?
If its player I guess Damiao or Moutinho. the obvious targets logically.

It's a shame if Leandro was all we could hope for when there were signs that an 'investment' was/has taken place and therefore, we are able to compete a bit more. We've also got rid of around £200k per week in terms of dead wages (Nelsen, Saha, Pienaar, Niko, Charlie).

Could also have to do with different currencies.

International transfers for sure. Particularly outside Europe when the banks don't work together quite as well as they should. Domestically I would be less certain. Under FA rules footballing creditors are preferred so unless a club is about to do a Pompey there would be less financial need to go to the expense of a LoC rather than a simple agreement to pay in 30 days time (or whatever).

So DL and his pockets full of Euros and Dollars were just sweeteners? Kind of like an Olympic, World Cup Bid? ;)

Splendid......

But one question I have on LOCs - Are they only used when terms have been agreed and you are committing to the deal? Or are they used to simply test the water with a bid?
