But one question I have on LOCs - Are they only used when terms have been agreed and you are committing to the deal? Or are they used to simply test the water with a bid?
When you are committing yourself by the sounds of things.

I missed grey fox bit and cant find it

:(

He's got an exciting text, and is just clearing with his 'sauce' whether he can tell us all who....

Such a tease.

Kind of "how do you keep an idiot in suspense? I'll tell you later..."

So my understanding is this: We have agreed a fee for someone/something and now the club are just getting a guarantee from the bank to say that we can pay it.

That's positive whatever way you look it at. Although it just goes someway to show on of the little intricacies involved in a multi-million pound deal.

I can find a slight negative.......banks aren't giving out loans :)

But I don't think that would be the case here, not only because we're probably borrowing within our means, but also we're not a risk. But their decreased loaning of money is part of the reason there are so fewer deals throughout Europe in general.

It's a shame if Leandro was all we could hope for when there were signs that an 'investment' was/has taken place and therefore, we are able to compete a bit more. We've also got rid of around £200k per week in terms of dead wages (Nelsen, Saha, Pienaar, Niko, Charlie).

The investment talk was always pie in the sky.

The best case scenario this summer has always been naming rights agreement to part fund the stadium + Ade, Leandro and Moutinho largely funded by the sale of of Modric.

We don't even know if the LOC is for a player!!!! Yet people already assuming its for a big bid.

It's a cryptic. And I've solved it.

Levy's importing 10 million cheap knock-off London Olympics 2012 T-shirts from China as he's seen a gap in the market to exploit. But he spent too long haggling over the price per unit and now the games are over and he's stuck with them...

Usually confirms the contract.

For example when Corintians bid for tevez, apparently all was agreed, until they found out that Corintians didn't have the reddies to pay. The decisive document can be a LOC confirming they can afford to buy.

A believe there is a fee / commission for a LOC so would definately not be drawn up just to bid, would indicate terms agreed with all parties.

If I understand - one of the replies also said that it could be secured against incoming funds. Such as if Madrid were to be handing over a large sum, we could actually start spending on that without having the funds first.

Brilliant. Just print "Para" at the front and this time next year we'll be milyonares.

2+2 together here, may be coming up with 5, but didn't somebody say last night a bid had been lodged for Moutinho and Hulk...? Can't remember who said it, so may have been a little less reliable than we would hope, but surely a bid of that size may require some kind of fiancial guarantee, food for thought nonetheless.

Anyhow, if this does turn out to be something solid, the Grey Fox bit, not the Porto bid bit from last night, then I point back to my post earlier, I knew that the ITK swingometer would head back around to funtime from suicide watch by this afternoon.

Best offer I have had all week  Waiting for confirmation don't want to shoot my load too quick, if you know what i mean. Not teasing and if right will be worth waiting for

Don't tell me....Bentley's signed a 30-year contract extension.
