The worrying thing is IF the avb demands are true, then it just goes to show that he hasn't/isn't learning from his mistakesi. f that ego is still there even after the chelsea debarcle, and that's been one of the things I've been using as a reason why he could be a good appointment here. Suppose nobody knows but I'm starting to get a sneaky feeling it might be true. Surely he must know this is a great job for someone

DL must of assumed HR would be leaving for England and started searching for a manager 6 months ago. I do not believe he would wait to sack HR before looking for a new manager. We all know DL is shrewd... Would he honestly leave something this important down to the wire? IMO AVB, blanc and whoever else would have been approached months ago and I still believe DL already has his man lined up.

I would tend to agree.

However, the longer this drags on the less likely it becomes.

Crikey! It's not even 8am and some people are wound up pretty tightly already. Pace yourselves, it's a long day (the longest, in fact), and we probably won't be any closer to a manager at the end of it.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm taking the media stories and ITK with copious amounts of salt. We don't know what's happening, and all information passed on is subject to individual perspectives and bias.

At the moment, I'm pretty confident that Levy is doing and continues to do what's best for the club, by taking his time over a key appointment, and that whoever gets appointed will be a good man for the job.

This is exactly as i read it - I just hope it's true & that the person that was spoosedly lined up doesn't renege on the deal (because I would have thought one man in the running would have been Rogers)

A 34 year old manager with an ego better be able to "walk the walk" when he goes into a dressing room full of Premiership players. He can be the best ever tactically, interviews etc but if the players get a bad vibe from him the performances will show it.

6 months ago AVB was still manager of Chelsea. Can't imagine he would have been on our short list back then.

He seems very shrewd in all business aspects for which we are very grateful but you could question his shrewdness when it comes to managers. And when you ask would he leave something so imprtant down to the wire, i think the last 3 transfer windowns would suggest Yes. But an excellent business man. I can't fault him in any way there

When was the Redknapp court case? Would imagine Levy was looking as soon as Cappello resigned..?

tbh if this stroy is true, and its probably bullshit, I quite like the arrogance of the guy, I had enough of arry's inferior complex regarding the status of THF, and reckon AVB would be an astute appointment....

You'd think so, but what if the man lined up was a certain Brendan Rogers? There's a chance all our long term management plans were thrown into disarray the moment he took over at Liverpool. That said, surely Levy had/has backups.

I tend to agree with this, lot of noises around that time that Rodgers was the man we wanted if/when Harry went to England....

And as an excellent business man he is also smart enough to surround himself with good and competent advisors.

The fact JJ uses the word complicated is a concern with the clock ticking towards the players returning.

May just be my intepretation but complicated suggests someone already in employment ?

I am sure levy has this sorted, he would have been planning for HR leaving for ages, capello was always going post the Euros. I can't believe we are far from our man.

The longer it goes on tho, and the more sh*t spouted against each candidate, the more I want Moyes!

I do not think Rodgers was ever on the list of possibles same as I do not think Moyes or Martinez were on it.
