This really is a disaster if true. Liverpool are what 6/8 points behind? A striker can easily make that difference up, we don't have that striker.

I agree, but Torres is on another planet from Suarez. And if he leaves, Suarez has to hit the ground running in a new team and a foreign country with a far tougher league. City don't have any real options if Tevez gets crocked. Dzeko might hit a hot streak, but he strikes me as more of a provider. Our strikers may not have done the business so far this season, but Defoe's been out for a large part of it, and even with a misfiring front line we're still fifth. I'm not at all optimistic in truth, but we can't be written off yet.

This according to RBlanchflower from COYS who's Dad or someone had dinner with our manager:

Pav - the team is basically announced the day before a game, if not officially then a few set pieces are practised and everyone knows the starting lineup..........if it's an away game with a long journey and Pav isn't selected in the 11 he'll mysteriously pull up with an 'injury' that can't be diagnosed by the the doctors/physios

Strikers - our budget for wages is basically still £60k per week......we have no chance of getting anyone until we can afford to pay more

VDV - whatever he's being paid, we aren't paying all of it......Madrid still pick up some of the bill

well if torres is going to chelsea then liverpool wont stop at suarez thata a certainty.. their fans wud be in uproar but if they brought in 3 or 4 players the likes of suarez , young etc etc and spent all torres money then im sure they wud get over it. one player does not make a team and will make them stronger in my opinion. sometimes u have to bite bullet and what might seem like disaster in losing torres i think will work out to their betterment.

He is a good coach but he has a small club mentality with the kind of players he is chasing, Neville/Parker/insert small club player or journeyman here, he seems to think he is managing a wealthier version of West Ham, we need someone in charge who has a big club mentality

Well if true, and my gut tells me it is (at least close to 60), then we are in between a rock (proper wage structure) and a hard place (player's expectations now that Citeh are paying average players 150k/w)

We could fix that with a scouting department, but that seems like asking us to play in red.

I really want to be annoyed at someone but the truth is no one here knows exactly why we haven't spent big, well, if it's Harry's stubborness, Levy's tightness or any other reason.

Makes it even more annoying seeing City sign Dzeko for big (ok maybe not big to them I guess), Liverpool splashing £23m, Chelsea offering £35m and Villa £18-24m for players they require.
