They always seem to "Strike while the iron's hot". Haarland had his release clause which messed that up for them. They got Utd to pay silly money for Sancho~ they're pretty well run and tend to sell anyone if their prices/valuations are met.

I am going to say, this is the fanciful part of the window, where we looked at really expensive players, but just could not agree on a deal.

I am a little surprised, and nervous, that Conte still wants 3 more 1st team signings - ie not Udogie. I just can't see that kind of business being done, particularly how difficult it appears to be to even shift our deadwood, let alone at good prices.

Even if Bellingham was possible, the second part of that sentence has essentially made it impossible.

I’d be really frustrated if we held on to Winks because an offer fell short by about 5 million. We’re constantly hearing, with good reason, the market value of any player is what clubs are prepared to pay for them. If Winks is only getting offers of around 15 million, then that’s probably what he’s worth.

The idea we hold on to him expecting a better offer the next window is flawed. He’s not going to feature in Conte’s plans at all, so his value will only diminish and by keeping him, we add another obstacle to us signing other players Conte wants.
