Right...

- we do not need a realisticly available striker
- The best strikers are hard to prise away from clubs (even harder in jan)
- Nearly all clubs will hold out for as long as possible to drive price up, in order to make the buying team panic and pay more

The exceptions? Those with a release clause, or clubs who know they have an unhappy player and need time themselves to get a replacement (bent leaving sunderland).

Name a player at a club that is seriously good enough to take us to the next level? Got one, ok... now are city in for this player? Yes, move on... does the selling club WANT to sell? Maybe, but they keep pushing price up... does the player WANT to come? Well mayb, but there are sooo many considerations now.
Is spurs as good as where I am? Will they definitely play CL, will my family be happy, is my agent trying to get me (and themselves) a better deal elsewhere.

Business is tough, because people are people. We rinsed man utd for every penny we could over carrick and berbatov and they WANTED to go to man utd. Levy still played hard ball and did what he could to get the best for the club.

You guys think no other team does that???

We are not Barcelona or Man UTD, we cannot raise our interest and expect people to jump at the chance to play for us. The calibre we need now, we need to sell ourselves to and hard.

So let's be unrealistic, because that's what we need, not bent or elmander, but TOP players and let's see if we can't just pull something off. We are trying for the impossible and full praise to the guys if they pull it off. If not, our strikers are good enough to challenge for top 4, but no better.

That's all very true, but if we don't get someone then we should of bought Suarez, he's better than Carroll anyway, much better in my opinion. Fingers crossed one of the people who have been mentioned I guess...

The only striker who is available at the moment and would significantly improve us is Suarez and I think he always wanted to go to Liverpool

Morning chaps!

I shall me giving my source a call in an hour or so to see if he can give me an update on the situation! I spoke to him last night and he hadn't heard anything about DL flying over there, but he will let me know for certain when I speak to him next.

As soon as I hear anything, I'll post it up, you'll be the first to hear!

Thanks =)

Smart and sensible post.

They are not good enough for Top 4 though not even close, we are being carried by Bale and VDV this year and one of them is now injured, Hutton and Lennon have scored more goals than our strikers.

We have Crouch who has got 1 goal per 6 games since he has been here, we have Defoe who has got 4 goals in 12 months, we have a has been Keane and we have Pav who is world class 1 game in 5 and worse than Heskey the other 4, were it not for VDV and Bale we would be fighting off relegation.

If twitcher had wanted him Suarez would have leapt at the chance

But the ITK was adamant that he was 100% not going to Liverpool and he definitely wanted to come to us.

Do you honestly believe that last statement? How did we manage 4th last year then without VDV or was it all down to Bale?

This is spot on. I find things out, but I only get told what my source wants to tell me, and he has enough reasons to cover things up. I know 100% that he would know most of what DL does, but would have just as many reasons to keep quiet. And that is why I keep the faith. I was told during deadline day in September that we were finished. The only info I received about VDV was after the news broke, just saying that it had been cleared by the PL. My guess is that vdv being available was sensitive information, whilst the deal being cleared was just info that hadn't been released to the press yet, hence why I get told the latter and not the former.

Ive had a few tonight so apologies if that doesn't make a load of sense...

Exactly the same

Given how tight the bottom half is we would be around 14th now were it not for what Bale and VDV did this season IMHO

Alan Hutton would be sharing the spoils with Lennon for our TOP scorer

Last season was different, City hadn't got it right, they have now plus we had strikers that knew how to score, Defoe scored a lot of goals in first half of year then Pav hit a golden patch, we can't rely on that happening again

Truly ignorant. We are not being carried at all. Bale and vdv are doing wha is expected from players in their positions, particularly vdv who is a forward player - a typical number ten.

We need one player as the cherry on the cake. that player is not out there AND available. Sparring the money we have reserved for tha player n someone who arry is not certain will fit the role will leav us unable t sign the player he really wants when they are available

No it wasn't.

It just stated 100% that we wasn't going to Liverpool. Adie now claims that was because all along Liverpool had only bid £12 mil. Chelsea bidding for Torres panicked them into doubling their offer.

I don't think anyone commented on his preferences and he even said in the papers that he was looking forward to working with Torres.

I think/hope what he's saying is our strikers THIS season have not done enough to get fourth. Fortunately the seasons not over and maybe they can all pull there heads of there arses and get some goals... Personally I'm bloody concerned that they might not... And Defoe is the only one with any kind of excuse.
