What about pressing? His pressing is very good, he changed the game against Southampton through pressing high up the pitch, putting the defenders and midfield under pressure. A point that might not be lost on our new manager.

He presses in only fits and starts. Also, his pressing his negated by the fact he is incredibly weak in the tackle.

100% agree, i would be more then happy if we brought in Davies and Rojo and i wouldn't be against Remy or J Rod as rotation options but i really think we should spend a bit and get a really good left winger in. Its been a problem area for a few years now and every season we always fail to rectify it. I really feel that a high quality winger, or at least one that has the potential to become one, should be as important as sorting out our defence. I just don't think Remy or J Rod should be considered as the sole answer for that position.

Yep I would be happy with Davies, a good CB someone like Lovren,Umtiti, Astori etc.,a versatile striker but would love to get a Griezmann/Muniain/Bernard quality player for LWF.

Sadly Muniain has just signed a new deal at Bilbao. Griezmann was always likely to get better offers, James Rodriguez is even more of a pipe dream but Bernard looks a gettable target and one with the skills to unlock the tightest defences

Mind you I'd still be wanting a playmaker and a decent rb, I guess some of us are never happy :)

On what basis? I'd say there was plenty of doubt and I have seen nothing other than a few flicks to show this. And that's my point. I think people are judging Paulinho on his reputation and price tag.

No talent? Yet Chelsea were reportedly prepared to pay £30m for him.

We see the best of him when we play DM ... he runs all day and is also creative.

He is, but has he thrown one with us? From what little has emerged about his falling-out with Villas-Boas it appears the Bearded Wonder was at least 50% to blame (let's face it, if it really was over Ade wearing a beanie to training, as one version has it, the guy had to be seriously insecure to make a massive deal of that). If he needs his ego massaged a little a manager with any sense will massage it (and bloody hell, a lot of people wanted Berbatov back in January, and he caused us far more grief than Ade has). We definitely meed back up, though—even if Soldado recovers to the extent that he totters into double figures, like Pavlyuchenko in his second season, it won't be anywhere near enough.

I would say yes because he either gives 110% or looks like he cba in games.

I agree that we need a back up striker but more importantly, we a left winger/forward and an alternative to Lamela who will score goals. Relying on Ade, Soldado, Kane, Lamela and Eriksen next season is a recipe for disaster.

Dobro jutro everybody!

Dirty bastard. It's always sex, sex, sex with you, isn't it?

Manolas, that Greek youngster is who we should be buying, not chucking 15- 20 mill at Lovren. IMHO, Lovren didn't look anything special for Croatia in the World Cup.

International football is so vastly removed from the Premier League it may as well be Ice Hockey. Look at the number of PL rejects doing well in this World Cup. I wouldn't worry.

So is the Davies deal actually 100% happening, or are they still looking for more then what had been agreed in principle, as was reported?

Agreeing a deal is only one part. The wealth of crap beyond the price and basic terms can take ages to resolve (unless it's deadline day when everyone loses their minds). They'll probably still have to talk about players image rights, bonus structure, payment terms/dates, sell-ons, relocation, and Levy knows what else. From experience, I estimate it's usually 2 weeks from the first "done deal/terms agreed" to an announcement. And more often than not, at some stage during that time a deal "breaks down", sometimes terminally, sometimes not. Best is to not get too excited either way. (y)

A one off game ... he's slow, weak on the ball, and I've lost count the amount of times he's gone MIA during games. It was painful to watch when we had Rose or Naughton and Sig on the left - non-existent threat.

Do we really need that many 'inspiring' signings though? For me, we've got Eriksen act 2 which is something to look forward to, Lamela finally being fit who has as much potential as anyone Liverpool etc. are looking at, if Soldado can get a semblance of sharpness back he could be exciting, if Poch can get his mitts on Paulinho, Chichires and Chadli, and Townsend and Kane and get them working in the right ways, I don't see this as the summer to necessarily chase loads of stars, as I think we bought the potential ones last year - I'd much rather we fill the gaps in the squad and buy the players we need for the whole team to function in a Poch system. I could see us buying 'unambitious' targets that are actually what we need, we went 'ambitious' last summer but unbalanced things and for a number of reasons didn't give them a platform to perform, so it is essential to remedy that this summer.

we did have a fairly good left winger. unfortunatley we sold him for a world record fee. agree we need a shiny new one though.

Did I dream that Bale recently played for Spurs?

The last season Bale played for us he was no longer a left winger in my opinion and we never had an adequate back up for him even before then. obviously we will probably never have another quit so good but it certainly is a position that needs to be sorted ASAP.

The fact that Kono is available for £12m, the more I find it incredible that Levy isn't all over it.

We should look to take advantage of players in their last year of contract.

I'm sure that Richards is another one in the last year of his contract.

Griezmann has been strongly linked with a move to Atl Bilbao over the last two days. Although its probably bullshit as i think the original story came from Marca, if there is any truth to it then i would think we could successfully compete with them with for his signature. I agree though, i would br very surprised if we end up getting him but there are enough other very good left wingers out there that we shouldn't need to settle for J Rod or Remy.

It was painful to watch any match with Naughton.
