Does anyone else think that we are quite a bit weaker in the striker department compared to our rivals?

I am a bit concerned that none of the ITK has us in for a goalscorer.

I really want Soldado to be our RVP, Aguero, Costa, Sanchez etc but I'm more hoping than confident.

I think we need one striker more, not selling any of the present, but I seem to be in the minority for some reason.

Will be really happy keeping who we want and just getting the moustache fella. Would've liked MS but he is not essential as we are already packed in madfield. Can also see Levy getting a deal done close to deadline day. Not sure if it'll be a VDV or a Saha type signing but Levy will need a late signing fix. Also see (and hope) quite a few going.

For this ^, I also see this....

Probably. But we have Capoue and Sandro for that role so it's not the end of the world is it!

I actually think we're in good shape. Agreed I'm sure Pochettino would like MS, but if the worst case is he has a choice of Sandro/Dembele instead, hardly a bad situation is it.
For what it's worth, I think we will get MS, and also Jay Rodriguez, though the latter maybe not until January. I don't think there'll be any other signings, other than maybe a few project signings for the background (Yedlin?).
Big positive is a manager that's happy with his lot and feels he can mould them into a team, rather than a bunch of players slung together randomly. I'm loving the positivity surrounding the setup at the minute, especially the apparent transfer committee harmony.

My only worry is by saying he's happy with the squad he has made a bit of a rod for his own back, 'cos the squad is virtually the same as what Sherwood worked with. Lets hope he gets more points on the board than Sherwood as I'm sure Levy and the cutting crew will just be behind his back.

And we were a shambles under Dim but still managed to finish 6th. Imagine what this squad could do with a proper coach in charge...

I do think there's a couple of positions we are still weak in and that we haven't really added any depth of character, drive, desire or leadership to the thin amount we currently have
Hopefully it's more Poch playing down our needs to keep potential selling clubs on their toes, which is fine

I don't expect other clubs fans see finishing 6th is a shambles, especially as he took over part way through a season. By the way I'm not a Tim apologist and I'm looking forward to the new season along with every one else.

Thats the ITK I like to hear.

Not only because it's clear, but it's the message behind it that speaks volumes.

The manager being happy, must absolutely mean that the players are showing the right attitude and buying into the gaffer's 'brand' of football - surely that can only be a good thing for any manager/club.

Either that, or it's on the charm offensive to say we aren't looking (stop the rumours), but we secretly maybe looking/playing games to shock a few clubs that we aren't looking to spend further (ala Southampton).

The twists, turns and conspiracies!

Both of those imo.

Can we stop mentioning Tim Sherwood in the ITK thread. Not because I am as concerned as some about off topic posts, but the memory of him still leaves me bewildered, then depressed, then angry.

SO ANGRY.

Now i'm angry even though it's Friday and sunny. Fucking Tim Sherwood.

I'm willing to wait and see what he does with a new style. Clearly soldado is a box type striker and be interesting if he get more balls to feet this year. Also can see Kane filling the "lambert" type role. Ade well we see which one turns up but he's making the right noises.

Think defence was a priority and it's sounds positive that this is being addressed. We can re-evaluate strikers next

Adebayor? If he's committed he'll get us 20 goals a season.

Centre Back will happen.

Unlike JJ to be so confident. I prefer his reserved style because when he posts something like "will happen" I am far more inclined (and excited) to believe it.

Villarreal are supposedly looking to sign another CB today and are flying into the country for a friendly so it seems to be coming together nicely for a Musatachio unveiling at the final pre-season friendly!

Other clubs fans didn't actually watch us.

Not only does it mean that he's happy with his personnel but clearly they're turning it on in training too. If they weren't picking up his tactics or didn't like his methods he'd be looking to bring in players more suitable but that's not the case. From the snippets we're getting, it sounds like it's working. The start of a beautiful friendship.

I agree. I would not be totally dissimilar to being under AVB but with energy requirement levels set at 11.

Not having seen Poch's charges under fire I'm quite nervous though.

It may transpire that we are weak in an area or two but I'm happy to crack on for now and give Poch time to realise exactly what is needed and go out and get the right people with half or a whole seasons match analysis behind him. In Jan or next summer he should be able to more clearly identify what we need. Bringing in players we think will fill a need before properly seeing the team operate week in week out may result in some poor fits.

That said we do need MM & as Poch knows MS the above shouldn't apply to him. I'd be very happy with just those 2.
