One of my mates is a Watford fan. He sent a WhatsApp message group I’m on saying our ground was magnificent. A Chelsea fan replied saying the best in the premier league. My question to all the levy supporters justifying his failure again to fully back our manager is what is the point in putting our club into such debt if you are not going to find a fully competitive playing squad? Seriously what is the point? What are we actually trying to do here as a project.

The transfer window for us has felt a bit similar to our Manager hunt imo. Early promise of amazing things (Conte / Vlahovic + Martinez) but then things started to go a bit pear shaped and targets kept falling through. Our Manager and transfer business probably came out similarly - not exactly what we all wanted but hopefully decent enough that we can show some progression.

Or, how are you going to find the space to take on even more debt when you have just built a ground that is the envy of every other team in the country? There are two lenses you can use to assess the same information

How the hell are we not fully competitive? We just beat City and are top of the league.

Jesus H Christ. We haven't spent a full season with crowds in the new stadium yet nor have we really had any of the concerts/other events to reap the financial benefits.

I think the easy way for me to sum it up is that we've made some smart signings, some with a lot of potential but at the same time not a lot to really massively improve us enough to push the top 4. The here and now.

It'll now come down to Nuno and whether he can get us punching.

It depends on who Nuno wanted. He could have said he wanted Messi, Ronaldo and Mbappe (I know over the top examples). If the clubs and players say no, there isn't much that could be done.

I don't disagree with what you have said, as we needed another 2 or so players IMO to complete the squad.

fingers crossed..mixed thoughts about this bloke
I'm underwhelmed. Also, other people I've been underwhelmed by or apprehensive about when we signed them include Bale, Alderweireld, Lloris, Eriksen, Son, Parker, and Vertonghen. Oh, and Poch.

Signings I've been buzzing about include Tanguy, Aurier, Soldado, Lucas, and Mourinho.

Conclusion: Give it 15 years and this guy is clearly going to end up with a statue on White Hart Lane.

Funny story.

What's this got to do with ITK?

At the end of the season I felt like we were a RB and CB short of top 4.

The tidbits of hope made me lose sight of that.

We got what I originally wanted plus some young potential. So all in all I don't think the window was a disaster when coupled with the general uplift in performance from the squad as a whole and the vastly improved fitness.

Would rate it 6.5/10. A RWF, CM and CF would have made it a 10!

It’s been an ok transfer window out of context - 7/10 in normal circumstances. Particularly like the obvious focus on youth, which is how we should operate as a club.

The issue is when you put it into context. We have been on the decline for a few years, we’ve had to put up with awful football for a while, the top four have strengthened, and we’ve had an underwhelming management appointment (although I personally like Nuno a lot). This needed to be a 9/10 transfer window to get us excited again and give us some real hope. It hasn’t done that for me.

personally I’m pleased I didn’t renew my season ticket for this year. It’s just too expensive if it’s another season of dross. I hope I’m proven wrong but under the circumstances, we haven’t done enough.

Given how much revenue was lost to the pandemic I’m surprised we actually spent as much as we did

I wonder if we'll play Emerson at RW to get him up to speed with the league and then go back for Traore in January? Guess it depends if he's capable of playing there effectively but it could work if we get desperate.

I might be in the minority on this but I feel pretty calm about our transfer business. We’re already well stocked for the midfield three positions, clearly strengthened the defence, and made a talented addition in the forward line.

Yes it would have been nice to have back up striker or additional wing forward but the fact is we’re not in th champions league. The first 11 only need to play 1 match per week as we can get away with fringe/youth players in the conference until the later stages.

Also if we’re really desperate there is always the Jan transfer window to see if we can get something done.

Lols - how do you UPGRADE Bale when you are in the UEFA Conference Paints Shield tournament ???

Measure your expectations people.

In fairness, nobody asked for us to bring in some random world class RW. People are disappointed we haven't even tried to replace his output, either with another striker or a winger.
