Morning all.

It is widely believed that the very first ITK was a man known as Judas Iscariot, who, as their handbook would have you believe, bubbled up Jesus by identifying him with a kiss. Modern day ITK's might well like to remember that Judas didn't come to a happy end.

After this ITK developed through the ages. In Roman times, ITK was given by public announcers in market squares, a tradition which continued for hundred of years. In fact King Richard IV once received some ITK famously proclaimed 'I Like not this message' and promptly had the poor Herald who brought the message shot by bow and arrow, given rise to the phrase, 'don't shoot the messenger'.

In 1745 an unknown ITK posted a parchment in the church noticeboard in the village of Upper Appleby that the villages best morris dancer, Josiah Felchalot had signed for local rivals Lower Appleby. In 1815, the Battle of Waterloo might have taken a different turn if Napoleon had not ignored ITK telling of British troop movements, claiming that the information was 'unverified'.

By the 20th century, ITK was advancing in leaps and bounds. During the Great War, pigeons were used to carry ITK and in fact it is said that a pigeon known as 'Speckled Bill' landed at the offices of the Stoke Evening Newspaper telling of the impending signing of Stanley Matthews. Sadly the Editor ignored it and lost a scoop, a mistake modern day editors are in no hurry to repeat, which is why they print absolutely everything.

The early 70's saw the emergence of possibly the greatest ITK of all time, a shadowy figure known only as 'Deepthroat', whose ITK was directly responsible for bringing about the Watergate scandal.

Today, ITK is concentrated more on football, with almost everyone having a nan at the airport, a friend who works in Hatton Garden or a cousin who works in the city. Info is passed through several hands and what might start as information saying Spurs are interested in Torres gets passed from one person, on to another and then another until it finally makes its way onto SC as 'Torres.....done deal'.

So remember, ITK has a long, chequered history and a very murky past. It has had some stunning successes, but for every success story there are many failures and today's ITK's are under the spotlight like never before. Cryptics, Typos, Misunderstandings................Where would we be if Richard IV's message contained a typo in latin? Worse, if Napoleon hadn't insisted on ignoring 'unverified' ITK? I tell you where........We'd be French and shooting messengers, now one isn't so bad but being French?

So to the ITK's out there I say this.......More spellchecker, less cryptics but either way, keep it coming. As the mrs said as she kneeled in the middle of a circle of 12 masturbating dwarves.

nearly two weeks until the start of the season, and as usual, spurs are dragging their heals, we need at least another striker, and we need cover for bale & lennon, plus the modric situation isnt sorted out, so much for signs that spurs were going to be doing things different at the start of the window.

having sold, pav, corluka, krancjar, pineaar, all for decent money, we really have removed the quality from the squad that we had, and brought back into play the likes of bentley, DOS, Jenas, all have had their chances to shine at spurs and on loan at various other clubs yet failed.

You would have thought given the move for vertonghen the club had identified the players it wanted, yet have failed so far.

Looks like the pepe le pew is about two sign to very decent players, yet spurs are still looking around the bargain bins.

And to top it off the gooners are close to sealing deals for Carzola and Sahin.

Handy that.

I think you´re being far too negative above. We have our backline settled, more than decent goalkeepers, and a midfield which looks really good but needs cover on the wings. The only problem area left in the squad, is, as before , the frontline. However, it seems as Adebayor is coming, and one would think that one additional forward is also being worked on. There are teams in far worse positions squad wise than us.

A few weeks ago I was fairly calm and optimistic about the transfer window. However as the clock counts down until the start of the season I am beginning to have nightmares about our lineup against Newcastle.

Problem being that striker area hasnt been addressed properly in going on 4 seasons now since Berbs left. Yes we had Ade on loan last year but that was a last minute deal and not ideal given we could've done with him against Utd in our opening game. I wouldn't count on 2 strikers being brought in at this stage in fact il be amazed if thats the case. It will be Defoe, Kane and maybe Ade or a cheaper option if we're lucky plus Bale and VDV will probably be passed off as alt strikers.

it so frustrating, given what had went on in the previous two seasons transfer windows, the lack of direction from the manager and the club given transfer targets. We need realistic transfer, none of the sounding out Falcao, Monthino, Llorente, Lloris, crap that we hear every season, identify targets that we could take a chance that dont cost a fortune, yet spurs and levy want the big names, but the big name somehow never fulfil that big price tag.

More precisely, the big name striker won´t come to spurs at this moment in time.

Have some faith peeps. Still plenty of time for signings. I know we all want it to happen asap. But we know DL pushes a hard bargain so most likely transfers will drag out to the end. I'm still confident we will make 3 more signings, excluding a GK. I also think we will lose 3-4 players.

Doesn't help the team when it's last minute. We need a settled squad now with 2 weeks to go, not end of August 2 weeks in.

I agree 100%. But late is better than never. So if it's the only way DL can push for a bargain and get us a player which AVB wants then we have to accept his methods.
