Surely avb's got an opinion with regards to keepers. I don't think Ferdinand will be dictating forward signings so why should the keeper coach.

I agree 100%. But late is better than never. So if it's the only way DL can push for a bargain and get us a player which AVB wants then we have to accept his methods.

Sometimes Levy's brinkmanship does more harm than good. A settled squad with a decent striker at the start of last season might have enabled us to pick up a point or two from the City and United games, thus allowing us to finish in 3rd.

I don't really believe that Parks doesn't rate Butland, any football fan can see the level of talent there, the kid is outstanding and shows real presence. If we're not in for him then fine and I do believe JJ so not suggesting he's lying, just think he might be trying to direct our attentions away from Jack.

Our current GK's are good, no problem there. We don't NEED a new one.....yet.

Midfield - Modric replacement required. Townsend, Dos Santos and Rose (who has been very good on LW for GB) can be cover for Bale and Lennon short term.
The issue is strikers. Ade should still get done so strictly speaking we mainly need 1 other.

Why does it have to be a bargain ? Levy has to adjust his approach to suit the circumstances. If we had two strikers on board already and we were buying a third, haggling to get the price down as far as is possible would be fine. In our current situation, paying a bit over the odds and getting someone on board is justified. I am not saying that we do something financially irresponsible, but we have the resources and need to be clear on priorities. An extra few million in the bank is not going to score twenty goals a season.

He has a great chance with: bale, Vdv, sig, lennon, sandro, parker, kab, walker, vert, MODRIC (still our player). Looking at that list we could get away with signing 1 striker (Ade) and have a fantastic team.

Seriously, people need to get over the fact that buying players takes time, and to get the best deal they can often drag. Yes, in an ideal world we would have our squad complete and benefiting from a good pre-season together but we're not in an ideal world. Apart from Chelski I've not seen much activity from anyone.

I'm sick of hearing people go on about how Levy is killing this club because of his tight arse negotiations, sorry but splashing the cash will kill our future quicker than missing out on that 'player'. There seems to be a contingent that thinks every player we missed out on would have been the next messi and the one to take us into the promised land of title contenders, rarely is that proven. Spending money guarentees jack 'see Torres for £50m' , I look at Chelsea and yeah there is some jealousy but I know eventually RA will get bored and piss off. It doesn't matter what he does to increase Chelseas revenues to be self sufficient, it wont be enough and eventually they will slide back down.

back to ITK, promissing to hear that some activity will happen next week but rumours like these spread like wildfire and althogh excite me but I'll keep my powder dry just for a little while longer. Striker is a must, if its Ade + plus 1 more in then I'll be happy. I happen to think we have a talented group of defenders, keepers (Gomes might come good this season) and midfielders, just need that special sauce up front.
