He has a great chance with: bale, Vdv, sig, lennon, sandro, parker, kab, walker, vert, MODRIC (still our player). Looking at that list we could get away with signing 1 striker (Ade) and have a fantastic team.

We definitely need more than one striker. If Ade (for instance) got injured it would change the teams dynamic for the worse.

And it may still look like a good list of players but I have to admit I was hoping we would be making a couple of 'statement signings' this window.

i have a feeling ade has been told to make noise over at city, so we get him cheaper, he only wants to come to us he loves us.

don't think he needs to make noise... City don't want anything else than him to leave.... But if they don't get the deal they want the can afford to let him rot for a season. Just for the sake of it!

The last few weeks transfer activity highlights the cost of us blowing champions league football. I know preseason optimism is always high, but we cant forget how poor an end to the season we had and how much of a disappointment it all was. We collapsed. We missed out on 3rd and champions league. Our rival, who finished 6th, became kings of Europe and with that moved to another level in terms of transfers. We've been left behind a tad, which makes transfers difficult fo us now. But we have made two very good signings, with potentially 3 promising youngsters in Hall Fryers and Lacelles to be confirmed, and we will no doubt still make a few more transfers. Strikers the priority, but always the most in demand, and the most risky transfer for any club. We have to get it right. We have to sign a goalscorer. We cant afford to make the same mistake as Pav & Bent, Rasiak etc...
I have faith, but lack patience.

I know... I've been screaming for Ade and damiao. But I'm just making the point we still have a fantastic team and it's not the end of the world of we only make 1 striker signing. Fingers crossed we still make a statement signing.

Kevin@KWSpurs
@jetsetyid People getting panicky re striker situation. Will DL do what it takes to sort out?

The original JJetset@jetsetyid
@KWSpurs I would be lying if i said i'm not getting very nervous about our striker situation as it stands at this moment today!
The last part of his reply to me was intriguing - "as it stands at this moment today". That emphasis left me with the impression that there is some hope that it will be resolved . I don't see any point in pressing him further - if JJ could tell us more I am sure that he would and if it is too sensitive we just have to accept that and be patient

this brinkmanship from levy aint always the answer, and year after year, is really starting to grate

Not even sitting in front of a computer relentlessly stabbing at the F5 key in the hope of getting tickets from the Locog website for hours on end, only to wait 20 minutes for the fecking site to tell you that those ticket are not available time after time after time after time, is half so frustrating as waiting for Spurs to sign a friggin' striker!!!! [takes breath]

yeah, I hate the way our f****** chairman doesn't want to improve the squad, or bankrupt the club whilst doing so... He's so awful.

Get a grip! Just 'cos we don't know what's happening doesn't mean there's nothing happening. Knocking Levy is utterly, utterly ridiculous.

I don't know if it does personally, the last time we qualified nothing much changed, in actual fact we were still scrambling around in the last minutes trying to tie up VDV and that was about it.

To be honest I'm not surprised in the least that we haven't secured any striking options. I have absolutely no faith that we will sort out the striker situation to any satisfoctory level. In reality we'll get bodies in, but they'll be from the Rasiak/Saha shortlist rather than any players of genuine class.

I think it's fair to say that Levy fluked it with Berbatov. He's done very well in every other department players wise, but up front we've been a disaster for much too long. I have no faith that we can tie up any kind of permanent deal for a striker that will score 20+ a season. Come the last week of the window, we'll be fighting to secure loans of has beens or buying championship level strikers.

What will happen is this: we'll get by with the AM chipping in irregular goals. We'll struggle to make dominance in matches count and will find many points dropped, AVB will be the fall guy and we'll be back to square one within a season.

Just when I thought we had decided against our normal policy of taking ages to sell our best player and replace with shite...

I know it will be sorted and it isn't easy etc but I just wish for once we would our shit together by the start of the season. All this waiting is playing massively into madrids hands and we should just take the big profit on modric and move on. Cabaye cost what? £4m? We don't have to spend £30m+ on moutinho if we identify the right players.

I can see us ending up with someone who is regarded as a square peg in a round hole yet again. The fact we have two strikers going into the start of the season with one holding us to ransom is frankly a joke. Sack him off and move on

until the eve of the Newcastle game, I'm still not having my optimism removed.

But this is Spurs we're talking about , so no expectations no dissapointment
