I think people are being a bit unfair with sarcastic digs at Levy. Yeah he is not perfect and can be fustrating with his transfer antics but we don't really know what goes on behind the scenes.

I'm as gutted we didn't get Villa as anyone but we don't have unlimited funds.

Considering we have no consistent CL and a 36,000 seater stadium we are doing amazing to be with in reach of the teams above us with there huge stadiums, sugar daddies and regular CL footy. On top of this we have:

- One of the best Training Facilities in the world.
- One of the best young managers
- One of hell of a great young team.
- The most highly prized player in the world.
- Plans for an amazing new stadium that won't impact out transfer budget & will rejuvenate the area.

And all of this by living within our means! I think he had been fantastic for Spurs and hope the stays as chairman if/when ENIC sells. I dont think most of us realize how good we have it.

When I speak to other teams fans or interact with them on other forums, they consider him the best chairmen in the PL.

The problem is we have pretty much hit the wall and been treading water the last 7 years since Jol got us within a dodgy lasagna's bite of CL qualification. We have had good players since and they have gone because we have stagnated rather than pushed on and though Harry managed fourth place twice his comments were pretty much spot on "this is as good as it gets" he knew that because Levy wasn't prepared to go the extra yard to give us the extra depth to be sure of tying up a CL place
We have Bale for now but does anyone seriously believe he will be here next season if we don't have CL, will AVB want to stick around if Bale is off and as likely a few of the other players in the squad like Sandro, Verts and Lloris if they see us not getting CL football
Oh we have a lovely new training ground, not that it's helped to entice David Villa or a couple on Croation kids though no doubt it has it's merits even if the biggest one might be to boost the fixed assets value to make the club look better for sale at a big price
A new stadium is a great idea too. even if it's been mainly talked about for years and we are still awaiting the first brick to be laid, but you need a successful and entertaining team to fill a bigger stadium especially the lucrative corporate boxes. Personally I'd rather have had some of the moneyt spent on the new training facilities spent on building a team with enough depth of quality to have at least given us that little few points extra edge to have consolidated a regular top four place and CL football and used the money from the CL revenue to fund the training facility rather than the other way round
It's no good looking at failure of others to measure our success but instead we have to look at the success of others to measure it. We have won a CC and qualified for the CL once in the last 13 years, we might have kept decent books and accounts in that period but when did anyone last go to see an open topped bus parade to cheer a years accounts ?

It's time for Levy to go that extra yard and give a manager the tools to really do a job rather than leaving important tools missing, until he does I'll stick with the line I used to get on my school report-"must do better", that sums up Levy and ENIC's tenure for me, maybe OK is you aren't too bothered about actual success on the pitch, but no cigar

If he proves to be a success, we will at least have found out line-leading striker for the next few years, as opposed to the (amazing) stop-gap villa would always have been. I worry about the price for bentekkers but again if he can be a success we should still make money on the deal in the long term assuming he either leaves for big money or helps us get CL.

Yeah I agree, but either would be or have been a risk. Benteke as a young and promising player but "?" over his true ability after 1 season.

DV - (URGH for bringing him up again) obvious talent, years of experience, won it all but "?" over ability to adapt to EPL and/or Longevity.

But any signing is a risk, the only out and out strikers at the moment you would probably pick if you had a free run are the likes of RvP, Aguero etc... as you know what they can achieve in this league and are at peak. But this is not FM.

Benteke represents a genuine opportunity to buy the next upcoming top striker at a relatively do-able price, all be it still high and for wages that are more than affordable oh and who WANTS to come to us.

Risk yes, always, but this one looks like a safer one than others.
That being said, I still want Higuain.

I've officially reached the stage of the transfer window where I'm bored of the transfer window.

I just want the season to start now and for the window to close so we just know who we haven't and who we have signed.

Another month and a half of this seems like a very long time!
