The Club can announce that it has signed a partnership agreement with Real Madrid FC and reached agreement for the transfer of Luka Modric, subject to medical, to the Spanish club.
The partnership agreement will see the two Clubs working together in respect of players, coaching, best practices and commercial relationships.
Real Madrid FC President, Florentino Perez Rodriguez, said, "The strong relationship and affinity between our two clubs has resulted in the cementing of a longer-term partnership and the successful transfer of Luka Modric. We are delighted to welcome Luka and look forward to working closely with Tottenham in the coming years."
Daniel Levy, Chairman, Tottenham Hotspur, commented, "Luka has been a terrific player for us and, whilst we preferred not to part with him, we are pleased that it is to Real Madrid, a club with which we now look forward to sharing a long and productive partnership."
Luka made 160 appearances for the Club, scoring 17 goals after joining from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2008.
We wish him well for the future.

h'hhm interesting, given this assume AVB didnt want Sahin which I think was the ITK view but thougt we might have taken someone with the Modric deal

I don't see how leaving it late is beneficial in regards to price, or beneficial at all :S (unless the selling club are in desperate need to get rid of a player). I mean if you fumble your main targets with only a week to go in window, you then have to scramble around pursuing the replacements, whose clubs will undoubtedly be unwilling to sell.

Shaktar's demands for Willian are a bit of a joke, but if they can't be lowered then we ain't gettin' no Willian. I kind of wish Dawson would just leave if the funds help us bring in players we actually need. I'd be v happy if they somehow manage to bring in a decent creative midfielder (how were we not in for Carzola? he looks the nuts! spose he probably wanted CL though..)

I hope it's a partnership like the one we have with inter. Spend years bidding for a player that never gets accepted

Metaphorically speaking, it sounds like this partnership will have spurs prostrated over a barrel, with Real Madrid wielding one of A&C's weapons of choice. I really hope it hasn't reduced the price of Luka, cus' this partnership sounds like sweet FA.
