Talk of what kind of player this whissisface is, (anyface for that matter) wether he's got pace, can cross, shoot, shit and fart is certainly better suited to the player threads.

A&C, keeping it tight today so it's not slack tomorrow

Hmmm...Holtby City/Dan Ashcroft called him a 'Stewart Dowing' type, although I'm more inclined to agree with you from what I have seen.

Must admit i've only seen him a couple of times on tv but he did look a lot more mobile than Downing. Seemed to me more of a wide forward than winger. Could be our answer to playing on the front left in a 433 or switch to the right wing if we needed a 451 or 4411 etc. As said, if his contract is running down he could be a useful squad edition and probably an overall upgrade on Lennon in terms of his ability to fit the formation we are moving towards if not his technical ability

Can we stop with the "plausible reasons for Benteke (or anyone else) to be shown round the Training Ground" and just accept that if its being done without the clubs (Aston Villa) consent, then we are hippocritical and as bad as Madrid/Man U/Everyone else as we are tapping up players.

If we have consent, jobs a good un, and we practice what we preach.

If we have shown him around our training ground then it must be an indication that Villa are prepared to sell for the right price.

Either that, or as you say, its blatant tapping up whatever way you spin it. Imagine if Bale was on holiday in Spain and just happened to be shown around the Bernabau by Zidane. We'd be going ape shit.

If I was Gareth Bale & I was in Madrid, i'd probably be interested to go and look round the Bernabeu.
Any football fan would.

Trouble is, we're all so precious about this kind of thing that anything like that gets blown out of all proportion.
The idea that footballers live in isolation within their clubs & never interact with other players or use facilities elsewhere if required is ludicrous. It also has little relevance, there are so many parties that need to be satisfied to conduct any transfer that a visit to a training ground or stadium is rendered practically meaningless.

I would love us to pull a crazy stunt like unveil David Villa with the new kit.

I can imagine it now, all goes dark, bit of music starts, a door opens with smoke all around (stars in their eyes style) and then the spotlights all converse on David fucking Villa.

I would imagine it's logistically impossible but it would be amazing!!

I read that in the style of Reginald D Hunter.

I just said his "well how the hell you do that?" in his voice out loud and I've been giggling for the past 3 or 4 minutes.

As for us showing Benteke around - great to see we're seemingly getting business done early, although strange that we'd hire a DoF if our star signing was a player we all knew we'd be linked with. Not complaining though.

Hang on so we're siging the "New Downing" according to some posters? I refuse to believe that we'd sign anyone who's so blatantly shite (after getting it stung before), we might as well get the old Downing as I'm sure Brendan Rogers would drive him down here himself.

Keeping it tight? Clicking your heels?...Is you a gaylord?

Did you know the french translation for bumfluff is boomfloof? And if it isn't, it should be.

Looking forward to some fresh ITK...can't see this thread hitting double figures without it...
