Well if we get Leandro, Willian and Moutinho - and end up keeping Rafa, I'll be absolutely over the moon!

Absolutely gutted according to JJ no playmakers are in the pipeline. I've already pledged more than a student lifestyle allow me to in the summer pledges if we get Isco :(
Unless there is a deal hugely under wraps the two playmakers we were touted to be in for have been pooh pooh'd by JJ :(

Willian will be a superb signing for us .. Seen him play a few times and he will provide much needed quality in the team.

I highly doubt the fee will be 20million and also dont know why people are quoting that fee.

Either way willian will be a fantastic addition to the team..

ps - he is amazing on football manager .. Always the first person i sign lol

Am i right in reading this as he elect not to answer about Isco? If so that would hopefully mean we are closing in on him!

Very optimistic; given how JJ normally answers in the past I read that as a 'pass' - give up on that one etc

I read it the same way.

In my opinion, Malaga would be pretty dumb to sell Isco at this point. They may have financial burdens at this time, but Isco has so much more future value, and pretty much all of their buildup play ran through him. If they want to be successful, it might be imperative that they keep him.

Nonetheless, if they want to sell, I hope we are in on him.

Difficult to judge this one. Could be keeping coy, or just really does have no clue about it.

Typically when we have been working on something concrete JJ often elect not to comment on it so it dont draw any attention. probably just me reading to much into it seeing as most took it as he dismissed Isco, but need to grab hold of the few straws there is! :giggle:

On the other hand, from our perspective, if we want to buy a player like him, the ship may only sail this window, or it will be too late as his value/other interest could rise astronomically.

So, uh, where exactly does Willian fit in?

He's not a replacement for Modric. He plays further forward than Modric. Which could mean he's back up for van der Vaart...except we've already signed backup for Van der Vaart, in the form of Gylfi. Which could either mean a) we're selling van der Vaart which is a fucking ridiculously stupid idea or b) we're planning different formations, or c) this is another transfer we're doing when we should be doing others.

Here are three formations I'd assume would fit Willian.

Sandro - Gylfi
Willian - Rafa - Bale
Ade
Which leaves out Lennon despite him giving us ridiculously good crosses last year. And isn't Willian naturally central? Which would mean we're signing a player for £15m+ and not playing him properly, a phase I thought we'd passed. And Gylfi shouldn't be playing Modric's role, so that's out.
Sandro - Parker
Willian
Rafa - Ade - Bale
Which is a lot more attack minded, but this would highlight how much we miss Modric due to not having someone to connect the dots. And Rafa on the right DOES NOT WORK.
Gylfi - Sandro - Parker
Willian - VDV - Bale
Which fits all of them in, but begs the question why the fuck did we just sign Ade to bench him?
I trust Andre and Levy, but this just seems like a bit of a pointless move. Moutinho is far more suited to us, wants to play here, he may cost more but we're almost certain to have a good effect.

all together SC...
