Ceeeelax all, it's not the end of the World yet you know. It will all work out in the end.
Oh, and let's not start slagging off DL just yet, I actually think he is trying to make it work, it seems that he has a strategy for transfers this time.
We will need to draw our conclusions later, it's early days.

Good news from soton's chairman, IMO. Wasnt too fussed about either of them. Would much rather we stick with 2 DM's and have dembele, paulinho, bentaleb and mason competing for capoue/sandro's partner. We dont need a CM! Any suggestion we do is wide off the mark. Rodriguez is out until some time in october at the very least. Would rather we go for someone whose fit, can train with the squad immediately and isnt coming off an ACL tear.

Dont get me wring, I'll take them but I dont necessarily really want either of them. FWIW, I'd rather Rodriguez over Schneiderlin if it comes down to it. But dont necessarily want either. Keep CM in tact, go for a healthier winger.

To be fair, a Saints-fan who presents him self as ITK predicted yesterday on SaintsWeb:

"Yesterday, 09:09 PM#157
Crab Lungs

We'll have a don't panic statement from the club soon"

In his earlier posts in the same thread, he seemed convinced that Jay Rod and Schneiderlin will leave.

According to the SaintsWeb ITK posted on here last night, their chairman is not really pulling the strings. I doubt he or Les Reed are really in control of the situation.

However, the idea that they'll sell either player for less than a premium was always hugely naive. Rodriguez only has 2 years left and is currently out injured so maybe we can drive his price down a bit but Schneiderlin has 3 years left, is a France international, 24 and is (oddly) counted as a homegrown player. Consider what they got for Lallana and Lovren as a benchmark. Consider also that Arsenal are interested.

Levy is a good negotiator but he's got hardly any leverage in this case.

Apparently the chairman was asked about the Rodriguez+Schneiderlin giving in transfer requests and he said they look at each case individually...

Sloth you said it was bad news if the leak was coming from our end lol

I said the only way it could be good news is if it was from Southampton... "could be" being different from "is"... as in it was almost certainly bad news, but there was a chance, if it was from Southampton, that it might not be.

Yep all a big positive PR stunt from Southampton, get their PA to release some news that 2 other players are close to being sold, before the chairman comes out a day later to say that they're not leaving in hope to get some fans back onside. It fits in with JJ and Stobart saying that we're interested but not close. I hope I'm wrong, but think the doors are firmly shut at the exit doors in Southampton and they won't allow anymore outgoings.

This. If we REALLY wanted them, we should have moved much sooner before they had already sold 19 players

Let's see what happens when they both hand in transfer requests as suggested in ITK. Few clubs can hang onto best players when they want to leave.

Personally not fussed either way and trust Levy to do what is right for us.
Let's be honest, do we really think MS is worth the money that Southampton reportedly want for him??
We'd all piss ourselves laughing at the Gooners if they paid £27 million for him, so let's hope Levy pulls off his usual negotiating coup.

They seem to think the tipping point remark was in the context of the fans - and them deciding enough was enough, no more will be sold.

True, but few Clubs have ever been in this situation, nothing like it actually. The amount of players they've sold etc, backlash from fans. Its a bit different in all fairness, but transfer requests will definitely see a few more twists and turns yet.

They will still come.

MS still now, maybe JR won't be until the Winter (if Poch still wants him then), but they'll come.

Merely the chairman trying to put himself/the club in seat of the good guys so the players have to submit transfer requests. That gets them some more money from not paying out loyalty bonuses too remember.

To be honest it's probably already sorted - we've heard this stuff from Levy in the past.

I hope we don't overpay for either player if we do get them. If their chairman is playing hardball then I think we should either pressure the player to kick up a stink or just move on to other targets. He's not the only player in the world that can break up the play and pass forwards. In fact, we have 2 in our squad already in Sandro and Capoue.

Schneiderlin is not worth more than £18 million IMO and Rodriguez is worth less than that.

The situation with southhampton is 'bizarre', so although i no doubt they will be trying to say no more outs, Im not totally convinced.

All down to the reaction and desire of the players now. I can't see Schneiderlin being happy to stay after who they'e sold.

If transfer requests are forthcoming we're definitely still in with a reasonable shout.
