Ultimately, at best we'll spend a lot of money on them on deadline and not give them time to settle

We'll go into the season with players that have yet to gel. Standard really

Time for Levy to break the mold, and realize there is a cost, beyond the financial considerations, for deadline deals.

Surprised by the arrogance shown by some in here that they still expect both to join. This is money, levy and an already wounded club with the fans in a fury we're taking about here. Can't see either happening. Too slow to act. Move on methinks guys :-/

Didn't we say we wouldn't be selling Bale at any cost? I think Levy himself said so. Look how that turned out. I believe nothing until the TW closes.

Did we cave, or were we just waiting for them to make us an offer we couldn't refuse? After all, there was no way we were going to keep him and fulfil Villas-Boas' wish list.

This is the second time I've seen you write this. You seem to be suggesting that Bale was sold at AVB's behest, which is almost certainly not the case. He had a wish list I'm sure. But a) I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have swapped Bale for Hulk even if he could b) the only player we got that would have been high on AVB's wish list was Paulinho for 17m. We hardly needed to sell Bale for 90m to buy Paulinho. The only other player we were told was explicitly an AVB approved signing was Capoue at 7/8m. I'm pretty sure Soldado, Chadli, Chiriches, Lamella and Eriksen weren't. He may well of approved them, but I'm pretty sure they weren't high on any wish list of his. With the other players sold last summer we didn't need to sell Bale to buy Paulinho and Capoue, Soldado even.

AVB's wish list might have been a tad optimistic, but was no more out of line with club policy than Pochettino's current one (Lovren 20m, Schneiderlin 27m ?) or most of Redknapp's (16m Keane, 15m Defoe, 100k pw Cole, Tevez is doable blah blah ???).

But they will know the manager and he will know them. Not hard to fit them into the system when you have coached them for the previous 18 months. Simply a case of telling the other players what to expect and having them deliver.

Krueger's statement has the feeling of a guy trying to get the best price for his house while it is on fire....

Like you were to walk up to him and say

"mate, i was interested in buying the place but there is smoke billowing out the windows, i can't buy a place like this..."

"It's not on fire, the missus is just burning the roast"

"seriously mate, that is the fire brigade right there, i cans see them...."

"they aren't the fire brigade....high end landscapers. I shouldn't tell you this but it is a bitch to keep the Azaleas watered on that side of the house...."

"Sorry mate...i can't take the house but i will buy the bathtubs..."

"NEVER! We will never sell the bathtubs as long as this perfectly sound structure stands.....unless of course you make an outstanding offer...."

Yep, as I mentioned yesterday: adding Rodriguez and Schneiderlin and selling 2 players would actually be a net gain as far as "settling", IMO, since Rod and MS have been with Poch longer than any of current players have.

Thought AVB wish list was that geezer from Porto, moutinho or summit, oh yeah and Hulk, that turned out well, and from reports AVB wasn't a happy bunny.
Can see the same happening with Poch to be honest with regards JR and MS

Let's not forget that they want to sell the club and asset stripping is the best way to ensure you get to as close as your valuation as possible.

How do you know? For all any of us knows, we could have been in negotiations for weeks.

There is a huge divergence between what Krueger's said and what that Saints ITK posted, and it seems to me that the former is making a desperate effort to pacify the fans. Don't forget their original stance was that no-one would be sold, yet here we are with five gone, never mind Pochettino and his backroom staff. And the guy's talking about Champions League, and accusing the players who have left of wanting a short cut there! Is he for real?

So what happens if Schneiderlin and Rodriguez hand in transfer requests? Does Krueger try and force them to stay, or does he turn to the fans, shrug his shoulders, put on a sickly grin and say, "Shucks, folks, we did all we could to keep them, but in the end…"

Not sure about Poch being unhappy with the selling club refusing to sell. Moutinho was a very achievable signing and by all accounts is was only a matter of a small amount that Levy messed about with. And lets be honest would you sanction 30+ million for Hulk!!! Don't care if that is backing your manager or not Hulk for 30+ mil and 180k per week is just pure insanity.
