Unless he's up for managing the women's team.
Hadn't thought of that! What a coup that would be!Unless he's up for managing the women's team.
Yeah when even Spurs can beat Reading 4-1 Chelsea are more likely to hit double figures than to lose that. Even if the games at Reading. Not specifically Spurs - but slightly misleading headline from BBC:
WSL: Build-up as title and relegation to be decided on final day
While technically true - it suggests a level of suspense that does not really exist.
1st place Chelsea play at last place Reading. Reading have 0% chance of winning that match.
If Chelsea win, they are the title winners, and Reading are relegated. Even a draw sees the same result, unless Man United beat Liverpool by 6 goals.
Don't lurk - get involved!Long-time lurker here - thought I'd jump in on this thread. With all the heat (and not much light) surrounding the search for the men's team manager, it's made me wonder what on earth is going on with the appointment of a permanent manager for the women's team. I'm also quite curious about how the structure works - does the women's team manager report in to the DoF or is it all quite separate? And what's the scouting set-up? Anyone know? I saw some of the players were released yesterday at the end of their contracts, so someone is making some decisions.
I've been following the women's team a bit more this year, and we have ourselves a star in Beth England. It feels to me that with a bit of investment in the team (the amount would be peanuts relative to the money involved in the men's team) we could kick on a bit this year. But we need a manager!
The suspicion is that Scott Munn is probably taking responsibility for the transfers and the manager search - he's been heavily involved in women's football before, particularly at Melbourne where he transformed the side.Long-time lurker here - thought I'd jump in on this thread. That sounds as though it could be quite positive! The suspicion is that Scott Munn is probably taking responsibility for the transfers and the manager search - he's been heavily involved in women's football before, particularly at Melbourne where he transformed the side.
Extremely quiet. I saw an article on the BBC a few days ago about WSL transfers generally - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65822840 - and part way down it said "Tottenham are also in talks with several candidates for their managerial position, including interim boss Vicky Jepson, who helped them survive relegation and is highly regarded at the club." But that's it! It's annoying as the bigger clubs are already getting on with transfers!Very quiet around this job, isn't it. I thought they might just give it to Vicky Jepson full time, but assume that would have been announced already if that were the case.
I wonder if there is just too much to do at the moment and therefore this has dropped down the priority list. (I'm not suggesting it would be right to do so, just wondering aloud).Still no new manager. i'm sure I read somewhere that Scott Munn was instrumental in growing one of the women's team down under. Think if there due back in the next few weeks for pre-season something has to be done sharpish, or another relegation battle will be ahead

Men's team signings (in and out), new DoF, Academy lead leaving and so on.
Assume pre-season doesn’t start until after the World Cup, but there is a bit more time here than there was with the men’s. Would still be nice for some news though.Still no new manager. i'm sure I read somewhere that Scott Munn was instrumental in growing one of the women's team down under. I noticed on one of the club news releases last week (www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2023/june/club-to-host-laureus-sport-for-good-global-summit-2023/) that one of the names mentioned was "Andy Rogers, Managing Director, Tottenham Hotspur Women" . I had a nose on Linkedin and he was appointed in March and was formerly our Head of Global Football Development. No idea what the role entails but hopefully it means that there will be a bit more attention paid to the women's' team this year.I wonder if there is just too much to do at the moment and therefore this has dropped down the priority list. Yeah, I'm not generally one for bashing the club but this is pretty poor from the club. Communicate what the plan is and show that the women's team is important - we shouldn't be trawling Ally Gold's comms to find out what is happening.I noticed on one of the club news releases last week (www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2023/june/club-to-host-laureus-sport-for-good-global-summit-2023/) that one of the names mentioned was "Andy Rogers, Managing Director, Tottenham Hotspur Women" . Also in the last Q & A that Ally Gold did (also last week) he said "I'm told the club are making good progress towards appointing a new women's team head coach so we'll see what that brings."
But all as clear as mud really.
