10m and I'd piggy back him there
Immediately thought of this when you said it, but I'm not sure how close in looks you are to Sean Astin
10m and I'd piggy back him there
Hope they stay up for his sake. His style much more suited to Premier than Championship. He needs to go for his own sake
Players like Carroll - and indeed Winks - are judged by fans slightly differently to other players.
For some reason, with small, nippy, ball-playing midfielders, we tend to see the most idealised version of that kind of player in our mind's eye, and project that idealisation onto the actual player.
By contrast, we don't look at a bog-standard League 2 hard man and think he's Roy Keane or Patrick Viera. We don't look at a fast, but low-skill semi-pro winger and think he's Bale or Ribery.
And yet, with the buzzy, busy, passy little midfielder, we seem to very quickly think of him as a mini-Modric or Silva or Totti. As if of course that's the level he'll reach just because he's that style of player.
I think Carroll is a good example of this. A talented, good player who's probably PL quality, but who's not really shown himself the same as our most idealised vision of him.
We need to be careful not to do this with Winks. If we're looking a bit stodgy in midfield, people call for Winks to come on, because in their minds' eye they imagine metronomic passing, clever little balls down the channels, fast little accelerations/dribbles that break the line. Well, sure, if the guy is Modric or Scholes that might happen, but if he's a 20 year old who's just broken into the first team, it should not be expected. It may happen, but as we see with Carroll, it's not guaranteed.
There's two kinds of bravery in football - there's the kind where you get stuck in and don't shy away from physical challenges, and the less appreciated bravery, which is looking to get on the ball when marked, and play difficult passes. Winks has both and Carroll has shown little of either.Very different though, as Winks is a tenacious little bastard where as Carroll, as talented as I think he is, never shook off 'rabbit in the headlights mode' in some aspects of his game. Hope he does well though, wherever he goes.
This needs a Tuco ratingThere's two kinds of bravery in football - there's the kind where you get stuck in and don't shy away from physical challenges, and the less appreciated bravery, which is looking to get on the ball when marked, and play difficult passes. has to be someone who has constantly been there. They will also want a replacement for Rangel and Britton, both 34, so I guess that is Carroll as he plays the neat and tidy game they want in midfield and has already been at the club.I'll be interested if the swansea move comes off...they've had several different managers now and just brought in a new analytics guy...yet interest in carroll has always been there (evidence i'm using is that he was loaned there and then bradley said they were interested, but there could be more i'm forgetting). who is calling the shots on transfers then? jenkins?
Still can't figure out how Carroll dodged Poch and Levy's radar during the summer window. Maybe he went underground and change his cellphone number?
Carroll haven't had any chances to prove his worth this season. Didn't he get some minutes during a cup match? I've always had high hopes for him, but maybe a switch to Swansea is the right thing to do
Levy handed him a new contract in the summer, they probably sat him down and told him you're not going to play that much but if you sign a new deal we'll flog you in Jan it will ensure we get more money for you whilst you get paid a bit more which makes sense.
He is perfect fit for a ball-moving, head-above-water, mid-to-low table PL team.Just cannot see why Swansea would buy Carroll or any other Premier League team for that matter. Rumours of £5-£10m are absurd. We'd be lucky to get a couple million from a Championship/League 1 team. The simple fact is he's not good enough for us needs to move on asap for the sake of his career.

Does Tom own a minibus?Imagine the lift this signing is going to give those Swansea players
The Championship is about his level anyways so don't really see any problems with this. Never been good in any senior match he's played, and he got plenty of opportunities.
