Out: The current scouring system
In: A more progressive proactive scouting system

In

Grealish - We desperately need a player who likes the ball and is always looking take something happen.

Diallo - I would have said Daka or Vinicius but use the money to afford a better midfielder and bring in a cheaper but still effective at the "big and powerful" role.

Reguilon - I believed we needed a defensive LB and was worried that Reguilon isn't solid defensively. However focusing so much on the RB side for creativity is too predictable for the opposition. We need a more attack minded LB to give us more dynamic.

Out

Lamela - at that age now where if he's not going to be a consistent player in availability or performance it's better to sell before we lose all value.

Foyth - sacrifice to help fund Grealish buy. I'd add a couple more to help this too.

Alli - It's just not happening for him anymore. Did he benefit from our all action high press? Did the movement of others allow him to get into the spaces he's most effective? Can he be a player who looks to get on the ball and be more of a dictator? No doubt in my mind he is wonderfully talented however his best trait his ability to do something brilliant in flashes.

If we are up against a packed defence and plating poorly, he offers nothing, if we need a player to get inbetween the lines and dictate in midfield he's not great at it. His best ever season was the one he was up alongside Kane and had Eriksen dictating behind. He didn't need to chip in, in midfield he could just float and take advantage.

However, that isn't how we are set up and we have zero creativity in midfield which shows His game up massively.

I'd trade that for a Grealish type who can dictate but also provide goals and assists.

Problem is, who would buy him at the price?

Must Have

Habib Diallo - wants to come, apparently at a fee the club can live with, has the basic physical tools that Njie, Llorente and Janssen never did, plus his highlight reel shows no shortage of technical ability and workrate also. Would give us an additional legitimate CF we’ve sadly been missing. Alternative, Vinicius or Eduoard.

Need To Have (any two from these three)

Sergio Reguillon - Assuming Rose is sold, as we have a clear need for more dynamism from our fullback areas. Sessegnon still needs to be worked with, I’d make him the starting Europa LB, perhaps too soon for Cirkin.
Florentino Luis - Assuming Sissoko is sold, we need someone who can bring the level of athleticism and work rate but also with the technique needed to boss our midfield, allow the likes of Lo Celso and Ndombele to lose the shackles. Alternative, Sangare.
Gareth Bale - Assuming Lamela is sold, like the guy, has tenacity, but lacks athleticism to be a real threat as a wide forward, or the decision making to be a No10. Bale would add that big game experience and sheer cutting edge, if motivated sufficiently. Alternative, Bailey or maybe Leao.

That’s based on us keeping Aurier as Doherty’s backup.

Updated to get it close the 3 as I can.

As there's a fair bit of this going on in other threads I thought I'd make this thread so people can get it off their chest.

Rules!
  • List your 3 buys.
  • List your 3 sells.
  • You can justify your choices in your post.
  • You can rate people's posts to like/dislike their choices
  • No discussion of other people's choices, any discussion on ANY players should go in the player threads.
  • Bonus Rule: If you must, post your new line up so we don't end up with formations going in other threads :p

Buy 3, sell 3

Buy:
Édouard - Not proven at the highest level, but at 22 his stats for Celtic are more impressive than Moussa Dembélé's were. In 2017-18 they scored the same number of league goals for Celtic, but Édouard played less and was 2 years younger!
Bale - Brings a winning mentality, can score out of nowhere (useful for a team that struggles to break teams down) and just his name on the team sheet will put fear into opponents.
Reguillon
- We need a another LB to rotate with Davies (Sess and Cirkin probably aren't ready and all of our CBs are right-footed). I can't think of a better option who is realistic and attainable.

Sell:

Rose - He's essentially gone already (aside from the fact that we're still paying him).
Aurier - Although, he's good enough to stay as a back-up, I can't justify £70k p.w. for a sub fullback. Tanganga / Foyth can help out at RB.
Lamela - Love the guy but, if we signed Bale, he'd be too far down the pecking order to justify keeping.

Sissoko is still extremely important for the squad, until someone else (Ndombele?) earns their place ahead of him in the pecking order.

in:

Bale: still world class and with a point to prove, instantly improves our best XI and sends a statement to the rest of the league that we mean business

Edouard: of the strikers linked seems the best bet, solid goalscoring record and all round game, would be capable of playing alongside Kane as well as in his stead. Players from the upper echelons of scottish football seem to adapt well to the PL also.

Reguilon: Davies is still one of the weakest members of our first choice XI and has poor offensive output whilst often being dominated by any top wide player, reguilon is available at a good price, young and would instantly improve us.

out:

Rose: fantastic servant but his time here is up, on big wages and not being given a squad number and training with the 23s means he's not worth the outlay we're currently paying, not part of our plans going forward, best for all parties involved for him to move on.

Sissoko: a tough one because he's a well liked member of the squad and by fans but i dont think his distribution is good enough for a counter attacking side and at 31 it's our last chance to get any sort of transfer fee for him, hopefully TN and possibly GF can replace the hole in the squad his departure would cause.

Lamela: always puts a shift in for the cause but the quality linked to that effort is not of the required standard consistently enough, his injury record is laughable and besides, bale needs the 11 shirt, doesnt he?

Buy:
Daka: I just think he’s special and can offer a little more versatility than most of the strikers we have been linked with.

Reguilon: LB is an easy position for us to upgrade

Dominik Szoboszlai: double down at Salzburg, baby. Let’s get some Uber creativity back in the side.

Sell:
Lamela
Sissoko
Rose-Carter-Vickers-Aurier (Yep, that makes 3)

In - in order, if we can only afford 2 then do the first 2.
Grealish - One word.. Creativity.
Diallo - Not expensive, could do a job
Reguilon - Would give us another option to the side.

Out
Whoever it takes from the group of current fringe players that enables us to improve the side.

In
Reguilon-
No clue how good he is, just see everyone else wants him.
Bale-Need the take on ability and magic he can bring.
Edouard-Looks to have some consistency of the strikers we have been linked to

Out
Davies-
Fits Josés' system but the system is bad and Davies gives away clumsy pens especially in European games.
Aurier-Clumsy defending.
Foyth-Dont see him getting playtime to develop.

Change to a 433
Lloris
Doherty----Toby----Sanchez----Reguilon
Lo Celso----Hojbjerg----Ndombele
Bale----Kane----Son
Ndombele with the freedom Dele has and feeding balls into Bale, Kane, Son on the counter. Probably not strong enough defensively. But hopefully would be entertaining to watch if we some how signed Bale.

Out
Rose
- Shame it's coming to an end the way it is, I was a fan for a while, once he was given the thumbs up to get further forward and started getting in people's faces but his heart isn't in it, go and play somewhere else.
Foyth - He's just too dangerous. Keen as mustard but when he's going in two footed at full tilt when all he has to do is keep them off of their good foot? Don't get me wrong, hilarious, but if he was playing for someone else.
Ndombele - I like him but I don't buy Jose saying all is fine. His pride has probably taken a knock and without doing the guy wrong, if I had to list our midfield in order of how well they fit into what we appear to be trying to do right now, he'd come a fair way down and that's not even including the nubbins.

In
Bale
- I'm a Spurs fan, of course I want Gareth Bale back in the lilywhite, don't be a dumbass.
Whoever the next VDV is - How did that even happen? I mean, seriously? Rafa Van Der Vaart, for £18m on deadline day? I'm wondering if that's why we haven't made any real major signings for a while, we burned all our privilege and luck on that one, like we played some sort of imaginary joker or won some sort of transfer tombola. What about just getting VDV back? I'm up for that, he was brill.

Buy:
Draxler, we need creativity in a turgid midfield.
Bale, improves starting 11 immensely and helps cover if Kane
Reguillon, upgrade all round.

Sell:
Moura, we won’t progress with him know you just know every time he starts we will be playing dour football
Sissoko, again adds bugger all and need to upgrade
Dele, we need to be aiming higher and he is a luxury player without a position.

Buy:
Grealish - Gives his all in every game and has the midfield quality to unlock tight defences.
Bale - On a total different level to what we have right now and I still love the man.
Edouard - Looks an all round player and can play as a Kane alternative (rested) or with him.

Sell:
CCV - Not Premier League quality for me.
Sissoko - Bags of power but an aging clumsy runner who offers little in terms of goal threat or passing ability.
Alli - I would love to be proved wrong and he hits the ground running and comes back to his best but I think his head doesn't look in the game as much as it was, Bale and Grealish in and I'd happily see Alli out.

BUY
1 Sergio Reguilón - Available and within our price range. I haven't watched him that much to be honest, just a few games in UEFA with Sevilla, so going part by his reputation and part from the quality you know there is in a Spanish international. Gives another option than the more defensive Ben Davies, and Mourinho more ways to line us up.

2 Boubakary Soumaré - Watching us play in pre season and the first game, it's obvious that Højbjerg although a destroyer is not a holder. He likes to press and go on the run, leaving us with Winks in a guaranteed starter spot. It's not good enough, and you can just tell it will hurt when Winks is out injured as well. We need more depth there, preferable a starter. Would be nice with a Premier League proven, and get another Mendes client in Ruben Neves, but I doubt Wolves are selling at this time. Soumaré is available, we know as Newcastle have accepted bids around 35m with the player reluctant to go there.

3 Alexander Sørloth - 6ft4 powerful striker that can be aimed at, hold up the ball, and also far quicker than people are aware, being also a good striker on the break. One of the most exciting young strikers in Europa that's not already at a top club. I like Patson Daka as well, but don't think he's available/at reasonable asking price.

SELL
1 Juan Foyth - As much for him as for us. Doesn't look like Mourinho trust him enough to give him game time in the Premier League, and now he's been left out of the UEFA squad due to foreign quota. He should go to spanish, italian or top top portugal team in my opinion, or PSG if they still track him.

2 Moussa Sissoko - While there's still value in him. I sacrifice him to get another holding midfielder in. He has some extreme qualities, but also so many flaws. Think he disrupt so much of our form when he play. And I don't really get the value of having Gedson in the squad as long as Sissoko is here.

3 Erik Lamela - Again, while there's some value. Think it's time if we could find a buyer. It's about balancing the squad with what we got and what we need, especially with the home grown status of the squad. We got Gedson for one role he can play, we got Clarke for another. If we sign a foreign striker, another foreign need to go.

I don't add Danny Rose to the out list, as I reckon him as already gone not being registered in our squad lists. I posted earlier that we need 5 new players not 3, and still think so. Though I think Lo Celso and Ndombele can solve one of those, but we need them fit and performing.
Ideally we'd upgrade our centre back options, ours are a bit meh, they have some qualities, but also some issues with every one of them.
