The shed bellend

Worth listening to their fans (for once) I suppose on him. Sounds fairly similar to our concerns about him and levy. If and it’s a big if, they can get on, it sounds like their fans think it’s a great appointment.

Doing the rounds this morning.

KUMB:
- Conte going to Spurs is bad news. That gives them a good manager for a change.

- I don't think Conte is as good as Pochettino. Levy's masterstroke was firing him - Nice One Danny Boy !

- They might even persuade HK to stay.

RAWK:
- I am genuinely shocked they haven't gone for Rodgers. Thought it was gonna be nailed on. Just seems like a fit.

- I think Conte will entertain the suggestion and see what's on offer. I can't see him actually taking the job though.

- Athletic saying they are in talks with Juventus' former sporting director Paratici, as well as Conte

- Wow, Levy admitting he isn't a good Sporting Director? That would be wild.

- Spurs transfer policy will be free agents like it's been at Juve.

- Very good appointment if they pull this off. He'll have a huge job on his hands at Spurs though.

- Wow, Spurs finally getting a really good coach.

Bluemoon:
- Looking increasingly likely Conte's gonna be at the Spurs helm. Normally I'd be concerned, but Spurs' problems lie way beyond just the manager. Majority of the squad is average at best and requires a huge overhaul. That which I doubt Conte is going to get due to the Spurs debt. This just seems like a marriage made in hell, IMO probably won't end well.

- Conte is an excellent manager. I honestly think he is far too good for Spurs. However, he is a pain in the arse. If he didn't like what was happening at Inter, I don't see why he want to join Spurs. If I was a manager, I would rather go to somewhere like Everton.

I think a lot of fans (not just in those quotes above) think our squad is a lot worse than it actually is.

Sure, we need to strengthen in areas, but I've always thought that the talent levels are pretty high, yet we haven't been coached properly for around 2 years now...and even in Poch's second to last season, there were signs of slippage.

This mindset of rival fans comes from our abysmal run in the 90s and then our ups and downs over the last 20 years; the latter is understandable when you're trying to break the mould and try to break into the big-boys' party.

Anyway, it all means that there are a lot of fans who still consider us imposters, despite having everything in place now to be a massive club. The only thing left is to actually win something.

Going back to the point about talent in the squad, a lot of what makes a successful footballer is motivation, application and working to a clear plan laid out by a coach. Some players are quite clearly naturally more talented than others, but there are plenty of examples where a lesser talented player does great things because he's performing a specific role.

It's very easy to dismiss a whole squad of players because they finished 7th in the league, but it's daft because a lot of those players were finishing higher up the league in previous seasons. And they're not all in their late 30s now; a lot of them are still in their prime. So obviously something has gone wrong along the way, which a good coach should be able to remedy.

Winks is a good example of this. Is he, or can he be, a physically fit athlete? Yes he can, so obviously that's not an issue. Is talented? Yeah, we've seen him play well, away at Real Madrid and in other games earlier in his career, so there's obviously a level of ability there. Is he motivated, giving 100% and looking for the ball every game. No, he's scared and hiding a lot of the time. So his dip in form is a psychological problem, which a good coach could potentially fix.

The point is, every squad probably has more natural talent in it than is actualised and that's down to the coach.

Instead we will now probably get Ake wit ha swap and money for Kane, and i do not rate Ake at all.

I'm sorry but no Chairman in his right mind would EVER accept a deal like that for the world's greatest striker. Levy may be many things but he's nobody's idiot.

I really find comments about the French pathetic, esp as our captain is French. Might be said as a joke but it’s really not on. How the hell are some things getting allowed on this site! Who made the rules, have they left?

Have you had a sense-of-humour bypass or something? It's all light hearted banter and not to be taken personally or seriously. Do you think the French don't have any special words for us...?
