I’m sorry Saka is not “ exceptional “ he’s a good player that’s it. He has very few wow moments. Kulusevski probably had more wow moments in one game yesterday than I’ve seen Saka have over numerous games. He has only stood out because Arsenal have been a very average team. Obviously he’s still young and may go on to improve. But currently I’d say he will have a very similar career to Walcott. I don’t see him as a real top tier player. If Arteta is so convinced why did they want Raphina.

Saints fan saying we are beatable with a proper game plan well executed. I imagine that is true of any team but he didn't offer a plan, what plan would best beat us?

Because England is full of people with drink problems, seriously.
Nothing confirmed this to me more than being a bus driver in my early 20’s. The amount of dickheads that would fall asleep on my bus and I’d have to carry them off at the last stop when I realised was ridiculous

A lot of Saints fans think Sessegnon and Romero should have been sent off. Can’t agree about Romero (it was full blooded but neither reckless nor dangerous) but from seeing the replays I think Sessegnon was a bit lucky to only see yellow.

  • Has been great for Spurs.Juventus will want him back surely
  • So underrated, he’s stats are up there in the top 5 attacking players in the prem since he joined Jan 22
  • It's only a loan by name, he's effectively a Spurs player:
  • New season and still looking impressive, this is more than honeymoon period. I was gutted when juventus signed him from Parma as he looked a special young talent then and wanted united to sign him, looks like he is now realising his potential that he showed at Parma.Conte has turned spurs around with this signing and romero.
  • he's on a loan + option w conditions that make it an obligation. tottenham are signing this guy 100% unless he completely implodes
  • He's been amazing for them and a huge reason why I don't understand overall why Richy has gone there unless one of the trio is off next season. Yes, they have CL football and he will be rotated but I doubt he sees himself as a 2nd fiddle man and I'd be surprised if he managed to oust Kulusevski on this form. He's arguably their most important and undroppable player currently.
Game week 1 thread
  • Kane x Son is incredible
  • That Kulusevski looks a brilliant player - could have a hell of a season.
  • Spurs are pretty good. Think they'll finish above Chelsea / Arsenal this season.I'm amazed that we can't someone like Diaz / Kulusevski on decent fees and instead have to overpay for guys like Antony.Kulu has been really solid.
  • and Conte seems to know how to use his players (not actually a shock)
  • Spurs flying (no surprise)
  • Spurs with another. Kulusevski. 4-1. Is this another nine goal mauling
  • Kulu makes it 4-1. He's been really good today
  • still really surprised that Richy went to Spurs, he's going to find it hard to replace Kulusevski in the first XI
  • Romero is a prick.
  • Kulusevski is my pick for YPOTY this season
  • Spurs look good, Conte an excellent coach so no surprise
  • Spurs look good have to say
  • I'm interested to see how they'll Spurs things up this season.
  • Why did Juve sell Kulusevski? He’s class
  • Because their horrible coach didn't know how to use it.
  • great business for Spurs

I love SC for this type of comment. It’s such a variety of people, it’s fantastic.

  • Hope one of the Southampton players superkicks Conte.
  • Wandered into the TV room and see Spurs trailing already. :lmao
  • Not a good start by title chasers Spurs , still expect a 4-1 here .
  • A few dives going in by the Spurs lads.
  • Surely not?
  • It is good to see Tottenham are still leaking goals
  • Saints started off well but got battered towards the end of that half.
  • 4-1 spurs and over
  • we'll be treated to the Spurs hype train.
  • The Spurs hype train is quite fun, because you know it's going off a cliff eventually
  • It’s looking more and more like a North London battle for the title and us trying to pick up the scraps
  • Really looking like we’ll be challenging Leeds and Bournemouth for top 10. North London looking on fire, while Newcastle cruising to Europe.

I remember when a bus driver didn’t do this to one of my mates in the early noughties (not his job to do so obviously) and he got locked in the bus station. Woke in the night and had to find a way out.

  • Teams shouldn't play into their hands. Even we did the same last season and suffered. They struggle to break down teams. And destroy high line defense because he basically has them park the bus. I hope enough teams learnt the lesson.
  • So long as they cant deal with that, will teams continue to replicate these tactics against them and stop them in their tracks.
  • Had we sat back at their ****hole, they would have been exposed as the frauds they are without the ball.
  • They will have stepped up once Conte has them pressing higher up the pitch, looking to win the ball in advanced areas. To be fair to them, I've seen bits of that from them in pre-season. But for the most part they are still a counter attacking, reactionary team... and that makes me dismiss them.
  • today marks the exact point that Spurs’ last league title in 1961 is as close to December 31 1899 as it is to now
  • They’ll be battering Arsenal next season, mark my words. (Arsenal fan who's usually pretty fair about Spurs)
  • This year marks the return of St Totteringham's Day.
  • Given the spend since Arteta, it'd better be.
  • Good grief do I ****ing despise these ****s.
  • Can’t wait for us to slap these trophy dodgers. When Kane ****s off to Bayern next summer they can put their top 4 finishes in their crusty trophy cabinet along with a DVD to boot as they will be back to midtable mediocrity.
  • Come October, we'll remind them of their place in the grand scheme of things for the umpteenth time
  • see they are in the market for Zaniolo, and were in for Maddison/Paqueta before. Seems Conte wants to give them further dynamicism for those deep blocks. They were rendered toothless against Roma recently when Mourinho completely shut them out.Currently, that is the way to beat Sp**s, they still dont have an answer if they arent allowed to counter attack. And if they dont address this, they will not be in a title hunt, nor the best of the rest outside of City and Liverpool. The funny thing is, their fans and many footy watchers, think that being a strong counter attacking team makes you one of the best teams. Dangerous yes, but if that's your main game.... then Im sorry, you are not a top top team.
  • have to say, even if we continue the form into the season I'd still consider them favourites when we meet them. With Conte, Son and Kane they are the biggest bane currently for pressing teams. That said they also won't do as well overall as others expect them to.
  • For all you Conte-sexuals on A-M. Here is the latest podcast from the Totally Football Show with James Richardson. They have Sp**s finishing 3rd and are totally on the Conte train! Lap it up boys!

  • I really don't get why pundits and opposition fans rate Sp**s that highly. Listening to some in their season predictions you'd think they'd end up just behind City and Liverpool in points. They had an ok window and a meh pre-season (at best). I'm not disputing the they will be strong Top 4 candidates with Conte leading them, but I don't fully get where the hype comes from.
  • From the official Arsenal v Sevilla Emirates Cup match programme...
Player profile section, Erik Lamela...
"A familiar face to Arsenal fans, Lamela spent 8 seasons as a Sp**s' player...His last game at The Emirates featured a remarkable rabona goal (which was later voted FIFA goal of the year) but also a red card in a 2-1 defeat for his team...now 30, the left footer has yet to win a trophy in his career"? ??
  • love the fact that even our match program shows contempt towards Sp**s  His adjustment should be seamless seeing as, now that Emery's no longer there, Sevilla are likely to remain trophyless.

I’ve had the odd time when I’d have got all the way back to the yard with someone still on my bus because I turned the lights off without checking and not noticed them in a dark corner ?? I can only assume they didn’t have someone clean and check the bus every night back in those days because it would be impossible to get trapped in a bus station these days. I have had a couple occasions where I got back to the yard and the guys have yelled from the top deck that there was blood all over the floor from people being stabbed that then walked off the bus without saying a word to me ? Ipswich is a surprisingly dodgy place!

  • Spuds 0-1 Southampton.
  • You know you're in trouble when you're letting Eric Dier score against you.
  • The header for Spurs second goal was fantastic
  • Shockers galore as Spurs go 3 - 1 up apparently
  • Looks like a training session for Spurs now
  • Spurs look like they could challenge the top two, never mind the top four.
  • It’s certainly worrying.
  • Which I’m sure Spurs fans will be incredibly vocal about in the coming weeks.
  • They'll do well. It all depends on how long their Spursy period lasts
  • They'll be in and around the battle for top 4, but no where near the title.
  • From been ?? If there’s one team which can win the Premier League this season that is not Man City or Liverpool, it’s Spurs.

love it!!.........hmmm oh well
:(

*checks scores* - grrr, bloody Spurs
:(

Is Southampton trying to get their annual ass whooping out the way early on?

Spurs are nailed on for top 4 surely?

Kulusevski is fantastic

kulusevski is genuinely amazing! what a player man!

Genuinely improves spurs so much!

Spurs gunna be top of the table now. Queue the champions parade.

DVD box set?

"That Magical August Afternoon"

Is that August Kane record still in place? As in he barely scores this month. Thought he'd be on the scoresheet today with them scoring 4. Didn't even get an assist!

Spuds looked good but come on we’re they really tested today? they have some liabilities in defence that will get explored by better teams. I hope we get our pay back on them this season. Suck and tired of throwing the towel in to that lot.

Hopefully we'll have something approaching our first team against them next time. In our last 3 matches against them we have been missing out entire first choice defence.

The Spuds look even better (than last season)

I wonder if these gooners are like this in real life or are just getting sucked in to the whole online trashy-site tribalism thing, of which Arsenal are the worst for.

I would genuinely love to live-debate around 95% of those posters (as long as they’re not Ty and let me get a word in) and very easily prove them all wrong/stupid. No common sense at all, just pure anti-rival shite. Is there a millionaire tv producer on here who can buy a spare channel on sky especially for this purpose? Set it up please. Many thanks.

My personal favourite from that lot was that this year marks the return of St Tottering’s day… after one game…. where arsenal are currently below us…..
