fuck it, I actually really like Grealish and he gets way too much stick.

Would have been incredible if we signed him back in the day
We've not had a likeable, thick as shit midfielder since Gazza, he'd of been a great addition, shame we didn't get it over the line

  • The performance needs to be better than Today or we'll lose.
  • Conte will set up his team exactly like Everton did today. They'll just be better drilled defensively and Kane/Son and Kuleveski will punish us if we give them the space Evertons front line got.
  • Sadly see a loss here. No Alonso to bail us out as well. Hopefully we can fall back on our luck with Spurs
  • Spurs have a huge mental block against us, it's easy to forget we were in horrific form in January while they were in their Conte honeymoon period yet despite that beat them on every occasion despite our form aswell Sarr, Lukaku and Kepa playing all three games. Also i feel Conte will pay us more respect than our form/fitness levels deserve, he played two fullbacks on the wing in this fixture last season.
  • It would be a huge setback to lose this game
  • The last time we won the league we lost a big London derby early in the season and went a record win streak after, so a defeat can have a good affect.
  • Don't see us losing to the Spuds at home, yet they are on form, suggests a draw.Hopefully Kovacic is fit for Spurs
  • They look good going forward but still unconvincing at the back. I suspect they will start the game with Conte's counterattacking approach. We ought to get some chances against their defence but we need to take them. I agree with those that see Spurs as currently more match fit, and I would have preferred this game a little later in the season. I know we have a good record against them, but I reckon it will be a draw. That wouldn't be a terrible result if so, although it is always great to beat Spurs.
  • 2-0 to the Chelsea
  • As a worrywart I'd take a draw here.
  • It will be a tough game and we will need to be much better. Spurs seem fitter than us as well thanks to Conte’s pre season.
  • I am concerned about it, Conte is a top, top manager when focused
  • Kulu was fantastic, bentacur looks very good. 50m for this two was a bargain.
  • Kulusevski in particular looks very good and needs to be well contained. That being said I watched some of their game against Saints and their defense still isn't convincing.
  • Kane drops into the space between the opponent's defence and midfield to receive the ball and link up play, which he often does really well. We need to make sure he doesn't have that space to operate in.

I don’t like how reasonable they’re being, what’s going on?

  • Spurs have a huge mental block against us,
Sadly, this is proven true far too often. For some reason Arsenal doesn't have this problem against them. But players like Kulu, Bentancur, Romero, Perisic, Richie and Bissouma will be unfazed and I can see them playing their normal game. It should rub off on the rest.

We played all our games against them last year before Jan 23 we got Dejan and Rodrigo on Jan 31. Romero missed 3/4 games. Should fair a lot better this time, I watched the game against Everton they weren't great.

It's not that, it's just for the last 20 years or so they have generally been better than us, same as Arsenal and United. Which is always magnified when playing them at home.

Look at our league records against all those teams at their places and you'll probably find no more than a couple of wins, either when we had the peak Bale/Modric side or the peak Poch side.

However, I do agree this current side could give them a run for their money.

But even a struggling Arsenal will tend to do one over them, when at our peak we struggle to get a draw. Best recent game was the one where Dele got those two goals against them in 2017 and we won 2-0. They rightly have a confidence when facing us that they don't dare have against a weak Arsenal side.

Fair enough they have won the last two away but they'd only won 3 out of the previous 20.

We won at their place in 2018 without Kane when Dele scored twice as well. Been a shit show since then v them.

England is full of people who sadly have pretty grim lives during the week, and then go all-out at the weekend. The number of people who seem genuinely happy is staggeringly low, especially among the demographics who come to games. It's a long term, worsening crisis of mental health and general well-being, not alcohol per se. I don't think it's remotely unreasonable to want a half-time beer, just a shame the service is still so slow.

Come on, England is a great place to live compared to most countries around the world. Lots of other countries don't have such an obsession with booze that we have here in this country. Saying that lots of people have grim lives as an excuse to drink is not the excuse you think it is. If people's mental health is so low, drinking alcohol will make it worse, not better.

My point was meant tongue in cheek anyway, and it clearly wasn't aimed at the people who enjoy the odd beer here and there, but loads of people at football are also the same people who drink to excess, and get absolutely paralytic on the weekends. People running to the bar at a football game, when you have a 15 minute break, missing 5 minutes of each half, to pour booze down their necks, is a real problem in this country. It's not because it's grim, or third world, it's because we are a nation of piss heads with a really unhealthy relationship with booze.

Anyway, back on topic :)

More fun from KUMB, they've had a better transfer window than us so far ?
My view is that it's too early to say, so I'll put a we'll see against that. 4
But some of the logic behind their claims is well up there in the dubious to say the least bracket.
Scamacca is better than Richarlison because their player is a starter...
Mmm, how about this if Scamacca joined us he wouldn't be a starter. Whereas if Richarlison...
Areola is better than Forster.... Maybe but, er Areola was already at West Ham last season on loan.
Now he's permanent so good for them, but they have not actually improved the squad there from last season. Whereas Forster will probably prove to be better than Gollinio, so....
Gotta love the Happy Hammers as always ?

The Whammers haven’t bought a left back yet, so they still only have Cresswell who cost them in Europe last year. The only cover they have bought for Rice and Soucek is a Championship player.

Udogie (who they were interested in) Perisic, Lenglet and Bissouma - all would have been huge signings for them.

They were claiming Scamacca was better than Watkins the other day - even though Watkins is Prem proven.

Bottom line, I am absolutely certain that they will regress this season and we finish at least 10 points above them.

Booze and gambling. The proliferation of betting shops, usually right next to pubs, in this country is obscene.
