Sorry if this has been posted before, but i'd like to know why Spurs get so much hate from other supporters. I can understand it from our london rivals, but 'neutral' fans seem to love it when things go badly for spurs. Why is this?
We play great football, are generally british, are run very well as a club etc. In the first half of the season we were the most exciting team to watch and last year in the champions league we really brought some excitement and freshness back to the competition that had been lacking for a while.
This is by no means a 'why always us', Balotelli style thread, I don't mind the ridicule as it only unites us and makes our glory moments all the sweeter. I am just generally interested to know where the Spurs hate from the average football fan comes from. Is it jealousy? Are we doing what other clubs only wish they could do? I remember when Arsenal went out of the champions league this season many fans praised them and said they had done england proud etc. But when we went out last season, and after Saturday nights horror, all we get is laughed at and mocked. I have many mates who are fans of a selection of english clubs and as soon as the final whistle went in the champions league final they couldn't wait to start their ridicule of spurs, completely ignoring the fact that chelsea, a team owned by a russian war lord, had just won a trophy they barely deserved to be in the semi-final for. It baffles me. Thoughts?
