The key for me is closing down long range efforts ie Outside of the box.

With the exception of last seasons FA Cup result, our last 3-4 meetings with Chelsea, we have conceeded from shots outside the box:-

Makeleles volley
Carvalhos grass cutter
Gallas last minute winner at the Lane
Belletis earlier this season.

which is why teemu should be in the team instead of the hudd. bring on hudd if we need a goal to add creativity.

COYS. i cant get the image of ledders lifting the cup out of my mind! it going to happen, i can feel it.

when was the last time we 'carried Berbatov for 80 mins' - I'd say it's more like the other way round - and why wouldn't Berbs be up for a Cup Final - it's all beyond me I have to say - when he goes it'll be quite apparent who was being carried and it ain't been Berbs for the most part

we'll hear Berbs is a luxury player next like Hoddle next :)

I noticed that remark about Berbatov being carried for 80 min as well but I'm already tired to response to the utter bullshit about Berbatov's work ethic that is spreading over many/all Spurs forums. The common form of most comments about his performances is roughly like this:

he is good, talented, gifted, a genius, BUT his work ethic stinks and only the moments of magic he produces cover his ass

I find that view plainly wrong but I'm going to give up to argue against it.

I personally think we have a better side than Chelsea, can see us winning 3-1. Drogba, Anelka and Shevchenko on paper looks awesome, but I prefer Berbatov, Bent and Keane. Wright-Phillips and Malouda, much prefer Lennon and Steed. Lampard and Essien not much better than Zoko/Tainio/Thudd and Jenas. Both defences are awesome, but they do have one fooking amazing keeper, then again so do we somewhere COME ON ROBBO get that form back!

COYS!!

My tummy (did he just say tummy?) feels funny :-( Like on the morning of a date with a hotty when you're a 14 year old. Except this is 100% over the cup final, and I don't see it going away until full time on Sunday :-(

So nervous. So excited. Please, please let us do this

COYS!!

Cech vs Cerny
Belletti vs Hutton
Cole vs Chimbonda
Terry vs King
Carvalho vs Woodgate

SWP vs Lennon
J.Cole vs Malbranque
Essien vs Zokora
Lampard vs Jenas
Anelka vs Keane
Drogba vs Berbatov

The lines ups will be roughly along them lines.

WIN DRAW LOSS

Cech's better than Cerny, no argument.

Hutton gets the win at right-back, but only just. Belletti's a very good player still.

Cashley, without a doubt. He's done well at LB (Pascal), but he's certainly not a long term option in the position (or any other position for that matter ).

I would usually rate King over Terry, but for the sake of being as fair as possible I've called it a draw. I do think King's slightly better, but at the end of the day, they're both very important to their clubs.

Woody and Carvalho are two of my favourite defenders. I actually rate Carvalho higher than I do Terry :) Draw for me

SWP and Lennon. Another draw. I go through phases of thinking one of them is better than the other. Right now I'm loving Azza, but there's no doubting SWP is class himself.

Much as I love Steeeeed, I think Cole shades this. Not by a great deal, but like Hutton/Belletti, I think class is just beaten by even more class.

Essien all day long. I like Zoko-Pops. He's a good player who can fill in in a number of positions, but he's not in the class if Essien.

Lampard I'm not a huge fan of, and JJ I am a fan of, but on the basis of just how important Lampard is to Chelsea, I've called this a draw. Whatever you say about him, Lampard's goalscoring record for Chelsea is brilliant. JJ's one of the form men in the league at the moment, so it'll be interesting to see how this one pans out.

Anelka vs Keane. Both class. Nuff said.

Drogba vs Berbatov. Two of the best strikers on the Planet in my books. Another draw.

Did I forget to mention that Ramos vs Grant will be the basis upon which our victory is built?:wink:

My opinion is that SWP is better than Lennon, or should I say more effective. I could be proved wrong on Sunday though

I'm actually very interested to see how Berbatov performs. He's put in a lot of great performances, but this will be his biggest game in a Spurs shirt. Basically, i'm hoping he'll put in a performance for the ages. Maybe i'm expecting too much, that he'll put in a performance an order of magnitude greater than the others he's had, because of the event.

That's a tempting but wrong way to compare teams. All good managers know a simple truth: the whole (the team) does not amount to a mechanical sum of its parts (players). Therefore, a team built of great players can lose against team built of average footballers.

Famously, Napoleon wrote that one African soldier could beat three French soldiers, five African soldiers were as strong as five French soldiers, and 100 French soldiers could beat 1000 African soldiers. (This example has nothing to do with racism, it only ilustrates that the whole cannot be reduced to a sum of its parts.)

To the person mentioning random long range shots from Chelsea against us, you're forgetting Shevenchko's wonder shot, that I'm still not sure wasn't a cross, against us in the FA Cup replay at the lane.

I agree completely  If anything, the fact that Chelsea came out stronger, yet I still think we'll win backs that up :)

We'll win. I have a gut feeling, similar to the one before the Arse 2nd leg. :wink:I firmly believe it's our time.

Regarding Berbatov. I remember in 1999 all the pundits claimed Ginola was gonna run rings around Leicester cos of the big pitch and he did sod all in that game (nobody did very much going forward for either team) but we still won.

Truth be told, against Ar5ena1 Berba was the most inconspicuous player on the pitch for Spurs and we battered them. Berba's individual performance in a game against a team who are as good defensively as Chelsea is unlikely to be the difference between the 2 sides. Its how we attack as a unit with Lennon, Keane, Jenas and Malbranque which will have a greater influence on the result.

We're still gonna win though.

I think history will have a chance to reverse itself from last year again. As with going 2-0 up at home against Arsenal in a cup and this time coming out ahead. I think we will take a 3-0 lead and keep Chelsea at bay.

WE HAVE THE BETTER MANAGER

The key to winning is stopping Lampard, Drogba, SWP, Joe Cole and Kalou..nice and easy!

We have a good record in cup finals...COYS! no fear like the scum games:hump:

now they're going to leave out Terry and Lumpard because they are so scared of us.

every Chelsea fan i see now (expect the skin head meaty ones ((which admittedly is a lot))) i let them know that we are going to beat them, just in a matter of fact type way, just to sow the seed of doubt in their minds.

We are going to win.
