Fuck me - this thread's really made me realise what a glut of potential talent we have coming through.

Unfortunately I don't think any of our young strikers are going to make it, and we'll have to fill that gap with big purchases. Harry Kane for example was always touted as a big prospect, but he's never really progressed. We can probably get a decent wedge for him from QPR or someone though.

Don't write off Shaq just yet. I think he may have turned a corner mentally in his most recent loans (i.e. realized he better kick it into gear if he wants to make a top level), as I was thoroughly impressed with his performances with the U'21's the last couple months I managed to catch and he may be on a confidence-accruing upswing at York (scored half as many goals today as he did in seven months on loan with Southend). I'm not saying he will make it, but don't write him off just yet. He's got a very unique skillset for the position, which works strongly in his favor.

should be onomah, don't think people quite realise just how unique a skillset he has. hope he gets game time in the final few games this season and gets fast-tracked into the 1st team team picture next year. pritchard is an obvious one, fredericks and carroll are kind of in the same boat, although the hms rb is looking a little creakier than hms cm currently. think veljkovic will repeat 8th grade so to speak and i don't see ccv or kwp being in the senior equation for a while yet. oh yeah and alli, not sure what we'll do with him.

Others were saying he will end up in a CM role, I used to be sure that Onomah should be playing in the 10 role in a 4231 type deal, he seemed to ooze style but lack a bit of industry to me, but the games against Chelsea slightly changed that (funnily enough he was played as in 10 in both, but his application impressed me).

I'm not getting carried away, I know a lot can happen (or can't) to get in the way, and there are no guarantees but there was something Pogba-esque about him in those games. If he can maintain that level of industry and application, the boy could have a great future, because he's got the ability.

He could play as the 10 with Eriksen left in the 4231, or in a CM3 maybe.

Pritchard, Onomah. A lot could depend on whether Pochettino refuses to budge from his 4231, because this could dictate what position on the pitch becomes most liable to throw up a vacancy.

We are really weak at RB and I really like KWP but having watched him against Chelsea, I do wonder if next season might be too soon, but I wouldn't mind seeing him get some time in cups to see how he does, trouble is he has Wlaker, Yedlin and Fredericks in his queue.

Veljkovic should have been kept here this season and given time IMO. There are plenty of others bubbling under who could easily see some time and impress and then get more, knowing the way Pochettino wants to up the tempo and the way our academy prepares them to play that way.

Do I really need to finish most of my posts off with #sarcasm or something??!?

Could the sarcasm have been any more blatant :ROFLMAO:

Edit: Just seen your post above. Forgiven x

Alli with be involved but he's not one of our youth players.

I think Pritchard and one of Onomah/Winks will be involved. The other will probably go on loan.

I actually dont see anyone else advancing other than Alli and perhaps Carroll as an understudy for Eriksen. I believe that Pritchard will go on loan to an EPL competitor - a further part of his transition to the playing group. Onomah and Winks may get some game time in the Cups. Too early for CCV, KWP and Hall. I think next season is where Poch's current squad consolidates.

Having said all that I am very excited about the above and CCV, Miller, McEvoy, Oduwa, Georgiou, Edwards, Loft and Harrison. There is some real exceptional talent in that 16 to 18 age group.

Dyke's proposals suggest we're all going to have to recruit from our academies more. IMO we're well set for that. Nothing guaranteed, but my money's on (in order);
  • Pritchard. Right position, right attitude, right time, and tons of technique and firepower. I can see him tearing shit up on occasions in the EPL.
  • CCV: Only recently come on my radar, but the boy looks a beast of a CB with ball-playing skills as well.
  • Tom Glover as 3rd choice keeper: Bit unexpected this one, but have been really impressed with both his ability, attitude, and seemingly a willingness to adapt to the Lloris style. I think he'd count as 'home-grown' too.
Bubbling under is Fredericks, but I'm yet to be totally convinced given his stature - unless he's had a growth spurt since I last saw him... Could do with someone in his position though, and Yedlin has much to learn.

Tommy Carroll, the new messiah, seems to have just plateaued. Who knows though, he could well kick on.

What say you SC?
Glover wouldn't count as Home Grown under the new rules.

he's a cm3 for me because of his ability to break the lines and there are only a handful of players at the top level who can do that, playing as a #10 limits his biggest asset but i know that's where he'll have to play if/when he gets a chance. i hope he gets game time this season, he should be managed in the same way that bentaleb has.

I said above a lot could depend on whether Pochettino continues to stick rigidly to his 4231. If he does I would love to see Onomah played as the ACM with Eriksen and Lamela:

Lamela Onomah Eriksen

Kane

As you know, I'm a fan of the 433, and could now see Onomah playing it, but I think we'd still need a disciplined insurance man holding in the centre with 2 of Bentaleb, Mason and Onomah either side. Veljkovic ???

The problem with that is losing either Mason or Bentaleb as I don't think either of those are right for the central holding role of the 433. If Pochettino could get Mason to be more disciplined positionally I guess you play him there ?

Onomah Mason Bentaleb

Onomah Veljkovic Bentaleb

How would you accommodate Onomah in a 433.

I'm excited about Pritchard and Veljkovic especially who I believe will end up at CB. Tommy Carroll I also like.

Haven't seen Onomah enough to make judgement.

I think it's important we play Bentaleb and Mason together, give them time, next season they will/could be telepathic.

Pritchard from what I've seen has good workrate decent pace and fantastic technical ability. He could dove tail with Eriksen and Lamela the latter imo is a must ie workrate incisive passing saying it quietly better than Eriksen and assists. Eriksen we all know about and getting better.

Pritchard Lamela Eriksen
.................Kane..................

That front line has bags of intelligence and creativity, but you have to balance it out with some pace and stretch. As great as that would be, we cannot telekinetically force the ball into the back of the net, and so you still have to have an advantage in pace to be able to a) disrupt opposition back lines by getting around and behind them and b) to open up more space for the creative suppliers to pull strings through.

Pritchard - he is ready
Fredricks - we need a back up for Walker and Yedlin has not made the bench yet.
Dele Allie - tearing up league one

Close, but probably some loans to get more experience first:
Veljkovic.

Training with the squad, but I haven't seen enough to judge:
Winks and Onomah
