Fergie does have a cheek, given all the bullying he has done over the years.

Having said that, I don't like this deal, it breaks the spirit of the rules that clubs are entitled to cash for developing players. Just because United are rich doesn't mean they should not be reimbursed. Would anyone be chuffed if we had pulled a deal like this on a club like Crewe?

They wanted £6m!!! 6 fucking million quid! If they asked for a reasonable amount I'm sure we would have paid!

They did ask for a ridiculous amount. £6m for an unproven LB? If it was a fair price (£2/3m then I think we probably would have done it).

The rule's in place to prevent big teams poaching small teams young talent, so in summary - Fuck United.
Usually when there is a disparity in price the two clubs go to a tribunal though, so that could have been done this time.

I think we are letting our partisanship blind us a bit. Legally we have done nothing wrong, but ethically it doesn't sit well with me. I want Spurs to be more than just winning at all costs, I want the club to stand for something decent, and also have a good name in the game. In short, I don't want us to go and lose our soul for success like Chelsea.

We've hardly lost our soul. I had absolutely no problem with us doing over United - we all know they've done it to us more than once. I wouldn't particularly be happy about dicking over a small team (like we did to Palace with Bostock) as they need the money.

I think we didn't let it go to a tribunal as once the outcome of that is declared you can't back out - if they had agreed with Fergie's valuation of Fryers (which wouldn't surprise me at all) then we would have to pay it. No way out.

Levy has just released a statement on our official site:

"I refute Sir Alex's allegations of manipulating the rules. This stinks of crazy alcoholism. It has Fergie's red nose prints all over it. I am currently making my way over to a travelodge in Manchester where I will be manipulating his wife's arsehole and filming it, before sending him a copy showing what true manipulation looks like. I have nothing further to add at this stage, aside from the words 'hypocritical' and 'drunk'".

Your logic is flawed though. Once a precedent has been set for this kind of thing, then unless the rules are tightened up, we will start doing it to smaller teams too.

I don't like Fergie, I think he is two faced and a bully to anyone he thinks is a possible threat to United. Maybe that is the only way to get to the top and stay there...?

You have clearly edited out the gory bits.

Let's get something straight - Fergie crossed us by publicly tapping our player up, hi-jacking him from the airport when his permission was to go and talk to Citeh, and then publicly laughing and ridiculing Dan Levy after his creatures in the FA refused to do anything even though it was blatantly obvious and Levy had detailed proof.

That is crossing someone.

" you know Daniel Levy he's different".

Sure is Fergie hahaha !

Alex Ferguson is going senile. Just look at his rants this season he said they didn't get enough injury time against us and excuses us of cheating, RVP could have been killed by Williams kicking the ball at him and now this shit. He will be shitting himself on the touchline next.

Tottenham told BBC Sport that they only made a second approach for Fryers after being made aware that the player was "homesick" in Belgium.

A Spurs spokesman said: "Zeki enjoyed his time at Standard - however, when Standard sacked their manager in November Zeki wasn't part of the new manager's plans which he accepts and understands happens in football.

"Unfortunately, a combination of this and the fact he had become homesick meant he wanted to return to England.

"His representatives made contact with clubs in England. This afforded us a second opportunity to sign the player and as per Fifa's solidarity contribution mechanism, Manchester United will receive 5% of the transfer fee we have paid."

:ROFLMAO:

I think you're on to something there! I wonder how long it will be before the United owners begin to be suspicious...maybe when he puts Rio in goal and decides to replace the substitutes bench with a shrubbery?

How will we make profit on him if he turns out to be crap?
Because he's highly unlikely to be crap enough to be worth less than we've paid for him. Five mill for a merely adequate English defender these days, and I severely doubt we've paid anywhere near that amount.

It's pretty obvious he's right and we've manipulated the rules, just that nobody will be able to prove it.
