Unfortunatley I think levy may have taken us as far as he can, he's done a good job but the timing if city getting rich hasn't helped and wages have moved on so much in the past couple of years that we're fucked without a new ground, I'm not sure he'll be able to deliver one.

I hope I'm wrong as I say I think he's done a good job and September 1st will be the time to judge but this window seems the same as the last 2, ITK's saying our transfer record being broken, just seems like deja vu

There is no alternative though. No City / Chavski style billionaire will buy us as the club is simply too expensive. The stadium issue is not going to be resolved anytime soon, so Levy and his current MO is the best (only) option we've got.

This.

I,m sure Harold made a comment about how the chairman wanted him to spend his money and hes also said that we needed a couple of players to show Modric our ambition.

Like you say we are not in a position to spend that type of cheddar on a player we are not sure about, at the end of the day we are not city and if we end up with an expensive flop like dzeko, balotelli, roque santa cruz and jo we can,t afford to sell a player that cost 30mil at a loss as it will cripple us.

I know we are all like crack fiends waiting for our dealer to bring our goods and being anxious I feel we will just have to be patient.

Harry and Danny know how important this window is and I don,t feel they will let us down so lets just wait and see what happens and while I wait I will just sit and enjoy my crackpipe:razz:

One slight issue: why do you go through all the long-hand of naming all of Citeh's strikers? Why not just say "an expensive flop like<generic Citeh striker>"

Why would a striker who's 'worth' £25 million even want to come and play for Tottenham?

Because we are a club on the up:shrug:
A club with some internationally renowned players:shrug:
A club that is recognised for playing exciting football:shrug:

He wouldn't not with our wage ceiling

We do not have a wage ceiling!

How many times with this have to be explained before folk stop claiming that something that doesn't exist does exist:shrug:

We have a wage structure that allocates a set percentage of our incomoe to wages. We could, theoretically, pay 24 players £50 quid per week, and one £750,000 - if we so chose. If we had a wage ceiling this could not be said. The management chooses (please note that word), to not pay extremely high wages for a few players as, within our wage structure, this would mean paying a lower wage for the rest - and they clearly feel that it is better to have a squad with quality throughout by paying moderately high wages to all of our senior players, than to have one with some players bought for, and paid, amazing money, but an unbalanced squad in terms of quality.

Do you mean ENIC as opposed to DL? At the end of the day we've been more consistant under ENIC and DL than any other time in my lifetime? I'm sure the new stadium will be sorted in the next year or so and once its built I'm sure we will compete more financially.

Chelsea and City are going to be struggling for the new Financial Fair Play rules with the wages they pay which will make things a bit more interesting in the coming years...

We will be there soon enough... a few more years to get us into the top 2 is fair enough...

Whilst DP's post is a very good one and valid, the answer is simple.

Our squad doesn't need a massive overhaul, the deadwood will be trimmed which will raise a significant amount of cash without affecting the depth and quality of our squad.

Then we just need to use the money from sales and whatever extra on top to buy fewer but more expensive and higher quality players.

If we can replace 6/7 squad players with 3 quality signings it would be a fantastic window and quite achievable!

This is all speculation isn't it?

There's ages to go before the window closes and until that happens and we've got actual real evidence to go on we should keep the rope, razor blades and whatever pills one might have to hand, firmly locked away.

That's a very romantic thought, SP but we both know football doesn't work like that anymore.

All i'm saying is EXPECTING Levy to unveil some magical 'super-striker' is unrealistic.

Someone name me a striker in the £25 million+ bracket who doesn't...

A) Play for a club already in the Champions League
B) Currently earn more than what we pay our best players

I get this I really do but I think maybe under our current owners we've reached a ceiling, I'm not slating levy but without Shit loads of money eventually you're gonna reach a ceiling, any club will, what chance have stoke got of ever winning the league for example, they'll only ever get so far without massive investment or a massive stroke of luck.

I'm not comparing us to stoke just using them as an example

Perhaps we need to except this is as good as it's gonna get unless these ffp rules make a difference or we get a billionaire. I'd rather we were English owned but this is what football's become

And that isn't meant to sound pessimistic by the way.

Just when you've got countless sig's on here with 'fantasy' Spurs side's and people have got the likes of fucking Falcao in them...!

Seriously guys, get real.

You'd be amazed at the amount of times i've received rep that says, "imagining you saying this whilst wearing that hat makes it even more funny".

Yes, it is me.

Are people seriously suggesting that we don't have 25 mil to spend? That is just not logical. We just cannot buy the players that we want/need and so haven't spent any money. In addition we are trying to sell players who we feel are not worth spending the wages on.

I love wilson and wouldn't sell him but harry wants parker, who is actually better than wilson, and so it seems logical to me that we try to make space for him. Whether we all agree with the way we go about things or whether it is the best way to go about things is one thing, but to conclude that our lack of activity is because we don't have any money is extremely strange.
