Spunked on 17 appeals regarding Stratford. The Bagel bill was bigger than expected, Bespoke gumshields for Gomes and a new comb (with club crest) for Daniel Levy.

And some new seats in the paxton and park lane that our strikers have smashed the fuck out of.

IF Levy fucks this window, thats it for me.

His lack of ambition will be there to see.

Not looking promising

I actually think we do have £25M or so lying around for a marquee striker but we haven't bought one last summer/jan/yet this summer because there aren't that many out there available and since we've only got the money for one shot it has to be the right choice.

1) they have to be available for £25Mish
2) they'd have to be young enough to put in some good years and then let us be able to sell them
3) Harry and Levy have to be confident they can get the job done
4) they have to be willing to come to Spurs
5) they need to accept not much more than £100K per week

There's probably only 20ish possibilities out there and I'm not sure they've found one that fits all the criteria yet!

So Benzema - probably not willing to come/wage problem
Llorente - according to Yidio the coaching staff have doubts as to whether he'd adapt/perform
Adebayor - wages, would city sell, is he that good?
Rossi - would he come, could he be the front man?

So like I'm sure we could have bought Suarez if we wanted to, but Harry's doubts about him are sort of reasonable if you think that he's only got one shot at spending that much money on a striker so he'd rather way to get someone he's sure about. He basically said that in his comments about Dzeko - that we could have gotten him (if not for City's wages) but you'd better be damn sure they're going to work out for that kind of money.

I'd imagine that's why we're looking at Leandro, trying to get someone who could hopefully develop into that top #9 early before they get too expensive and big to bring in. I'd guess that in addition to that we'll bring in someone else for a bit cheaper that is obtainable but would still be a big improvement on what we have now in the meantime, like a Berbatov/Vucinic.

Levy has always said the money is there for the right player, he probably doesn't want another Bentley situation. I wonder if he's saving the big money for the next manager (this assumes that Harry is off to manage England) but is willing to spend it on someone like Rossi or any player that the new guy is likely to want to keep.

I know, but theres nothing to say that come that day we wont have someone in, even Wenger has said that they wont be doing major business until July.....I'm going to worry if we dont have anyone in mid/end July

Do we though? Everyone talks about us having some kind of warchest, but if you look at the time that was mentioned, which was kind of that post-January spree when we bought so much just avoid relegation, we've spent very little. And we've spent no more than 9 million on any player

And I believe these are correct, but I could be off a little on some

9 million - Crouch
8 million - Bassong, vdv, Sandro
4 million - Kaboul, Naughton, Walker
2.5 mil - Kranjcar, Pienaar
1.5 mil - Khumalo
free - Friedel, Gallas

So for two summers and winters, plus our current window, we've spent a total of 50 million. We made back about 27 million + addons (10 for bent, 8 for Zoko, 2 for Bentley loan, nearly 2 for Gunter and I'm not sure for Taraabt, 5 for O'Hara)

A 23 million outlay over 5 transfer windows is not very much for a team trying to secure CL consistency. It's less than Villa paid for Bent (which we got some of and may make our outlay less than 20).

It speaks to me of a team that doesn't have much money at all. I know there is rumor about massive bids in January, but since they didn't come off, they don't count. They are no more than paper talk and Chinese whispers. We have no idea if we have a massive amount of money to spend. Considering our current links to freebies, it doesn't seem like we are going to splash the cash. We tried trading players for Cahill. Even the 12 million for Leandro seems to causing issues.

So I wouldn't rule out there being a lot less spending than people seem to think we have right to. Then again we could break the bank on Rossi. But it's doubtful. And I don't think Levy's going to get an 8 million pound superstar at the bell this time around. So I imagine we are going to see a meltdown come September.

I for one have braced myself for a long drought after the financial collapse and don't expect much.

I know this line of thinking is very unpopular and will be ridiculed, but Lewis is the major shareholder in ENIC, and he lost a lot of his fortune due to one of the banks (Lehman maybe) and since that time, we've become very frugal. But I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

There is obviously something in this post, but there is equally something there to suggest that Harry Redknapp hasn't been going after the players that us fans would like the club to be signing.

To me, that is probably more poignant in this debate. Especially given recent revelations surrounding disagreements with Levy over targets.

I think the money is there and I think Levy will spend it this time, he isnt stupid and must know that by bidding £25m & £35m on Rossi and Aguero and Luka wanting to leave that questions will be asked as to where the big money has gone to show the ambition that was allegedly there in Jan.....or I may be wrong of course!:grin:

This.

I,m sure Harold made a comment about how the chairman wanted him to spend his money and hes also said that we needed a couple of players to show Modric our ambition.

Like you say we are not in a position to spend that type of cheddar on a player we are not sure about, at the end of the day we are not city and if we end up with an expensive flop like dzeko, balotelli, roque santa cruz and jo we can,t afford to sell a player that cost 30mil at a loss as it will cripple us.

I know we are all like crack fiends waiting for our dealer to bring our goods and being anxious I feel we will just have to be patient.

Harry and Danny know how important this window is and I don,t feel they will let us down so lets just wait and see what happens and while I wait I will just sit and enjoy my crackpipe:razz:

Everyone is glossing over the simple new factor of the 25man squad ruling... We have a surplus of players that aren't going to get a look in and are trying to trim the squad so we aren't paying players to not even sit on the bench.... If we can clear some out which I think we will soon we will start bringing players in...

Even so people keep saying this but we won't end up with first rate... we will likely get someone on their way down like a Adebayor or Anelka, or someone on the way up like a Leandro... The Neymar's, Eto'o, Ibrahimovic's etc will not be coming, once we all accept this we might be able to cut the slating of the chairman, manager and current players...

Unfortunatley I think levy may have taken us as far as he can, he's done a good job but the timing if city getting rich hasn't helped and wages have moved on so much in the past couple of years that we're fucked without a new ground, I'm not sure he'll be able to deliver one.

I hope I'm wrong as I say I think he's done a good job and September 1st will be the time to judge but this window seems the same as the last 2, ITK's saying our transfer record being broken, just seems like deja vu
