25% more then what we have offered is a lot though. I'll be royally fucked off if this doesnt happen but 10m for a guy with 1 year left who appears to only want to join us is a very good deal for Ajax. 10m is definitely not on the cheap and its a very competitive offer

People thinking this deal is taking too long would do well to reflect upon Truth #1 of the transfer window:

No player linked in the press will ever sign for Tottenham until his thread in the SC Transfer Rumours forum reaches a minimum of 100 pages long.

So, we've got several days left before we should get antsy.

Season ticket prices are going up again.... fans are surely gonna want something for their money.... something other than a major cock up, I mean.

Anyone who thinks this shizzle is easy needs to go to their finance department when your company is buying out another one.

Payment structures and timings and ways round tax payments, off-sets and so on and so forth, it's a frigging nightmare.

2.5million Euros in footballing terms these day seems like nothing, but the impacts on other fees we might want to go into can be huge.

As others have said, if this is all up front it causes a big gap in finances that likely have knock on affects to other negotiations, like Ade might want bonuses up front to offset wages for example.

On a separate note, does anyone know how quick Jan is?

I don't know the answer - 'fast enough' is about the most useful chocolate teapot info I have been able to find out so far. But so we can feel smug and condescending about the (low) intelligence levels of Arsenal fans, here's a discussion about his speed between two Arse supporters, which I found posted on an Arse site earlier in May:
Q: Is Vertonghen fast? Or slow?
A: He's a shorter version of Mertesacker

There you have it. I wonder if Wenger's as sharp as the fans...

The problem with the deal as my ITK understands is we want to pay a tiny amount upfront and the rest over 2/3 years and ajax want most of the money upfront and the rest over 2 years and also some stuff about bonus payments but they are coming closer in negoating every day! It is nearly done but just needs to be ironed out could take abit yet or could be done today! Depends on DL willing to pay more money upfront and/or ajax lowering there inital fee!

Does anyone else cringe when wpd659 says ''My ITK'' ?

Yes big time :D Don't get me wrong, i appreciate the info but all this "my ITK" Buisseness sounds like "My daddy" and is a bit cringeworthy. ITK is not a person, it's an abbreviation for 'In the Knowledge', maybe he thinks it's a person ;)
