Just for the record, before the usual suspects come in to illuminate all our lives by telling everyone how they are right and everyone else is wrong..............I have an 11 inch chopper.

I had an 18 inch Raleigh when I was 14. I had to really hunch up to ride it by the time I reached 16. How do you fit on an eleven inch Chopper? Are you a very small person?

Didn't see the game or listen on the radio but it sounds like typical spurs.

One thing that can't be overlooked is AVB choice of playing a full strength team every europa game. Its been bothering me all season and even though it's nice we're taking it seriously our performances in them have been average at best. You can still play a strong team and give certain players a rest.

Could be one factor leading to a lack of concentration in the last 15 mins of prem games.

Lennon was quiet, and Huddlestone came into the middle to match up against Everton's size. I think he did a good job, too.

We were already a bigger team than them. In fact we're now one of the biggest teams in the league. Only Lennon and Defoe were small for us today - all the rest are around 6 foot or over and that was without Bale.

Maybe you meant gut size? In which case I apologise.

Out of interest what did he do particularly whilst he was doing this 'good job'?

If Kabs, BAE, Parker and until recently Ade had been fit then yes he could have done. They haven't been though so unless you really want to see an H type, rejigging with genuine fringe players put into pivotal roles in those games, then he couldn't really. If he had he'd have been called a bullshitter for saying he was taking the Europa seriously etc and we might be out of Europe again which would have pleased many. There again, having a decent run in Europe isn't a bad thing for our coefficent, on the off chance we do qualify for the CL at some distant point in the future.

Frankly, our squad has been gutted over the summer.

We should have sacrificed Europe - again - I guess but that we can't genuinely compete in two comps doesn't bode well and the problems it exposes aren't down to AVB either. We need a DoF in pronto. I'd even settle for that being the only Jan signing moving forwards. DL isn't up to it.

I don't think it's any coincidence that as a team (and for several seasons now) even under Jol, Ramos, Redknapp etc, we leak goals at an alarming rate. Dawson and King were / are always injured. With the exception of King, I don't think we have really had anyone at CB deserving of being in a top 4/5 team either. Its been an eternity since we had a settled, decent CB pairing and its a personnel thing rather than a manager thing IMO.

Gallas was a band aid as such, Kaboul not bad but still unproven really and yet another sick note. Having said all of this, an away loss at Everton is gutting, but lets just hope the hierarchy learn from these last minute losses and likewise look to continue to ship out the dead wood in January. We still have far too much of it if we want to be genuine contenders.

The strange thing is that last year we had the 5th best defensive record, the year before 8th, and the year before 5th. So where does the "leak goals at an alarming rate" argument lie?

He set up our goal.

On a serious note, he completed 7/12 passes. Poor.

75 minutes I'm thinking OK, 0-0, I'll take that. They've edged it and neither Defoe of Ade have done anything much.
76 minuters I'm thinking. Thank you lord if you insist
Siggy comes on, Dembele's struggling. He hits the bar. Good substitution.
Falque comes on for Defoe. good positive substitution.
Hudd comes on does nothing wrong for the goals. Logical sub.
90 minutes. Everton score, mix up in goalmouth. Caulker ignores the keeper again. Oh well good point.
90+ Everton nick it. What I thought then is unprintable and I apologise to Mrs Jimmy G2.

But whatever you thought on 76 minutes about the team, AVB, substitutions, late goals, Lloris, sdhould still apply.
A couple of errors does not wipe out all that has gone before.

Agree. See my earlier post (only if you can be bothered).

Agree, injuries have meant players like Sandro couldn't be rested but I still think the likes of Townsend and Falque could of been used more in Europe without weakening the team too much.

Your right about the squad being much weaker though. In that regard, AVB's been f***** good and proper.

i was always going to be very surprised had we picked up a result today;

We need to remember its a very difficult place to go, they were at full strength, we were missing our best player and we played Thursday with few changes...yet we nearly nicked it.

This team last season we had King, Kaboul, Modric, Parker, Modric and Rafa real blend of characters, warriors, players that know how to see games through now they are all missing it's no-councidence that we're letting in late goals for fun this season when we're under the cosh.

The mentality is lacking and we are really paying for it.

I think you have stumbled on the problem. Not only have we not adequately replaced Modric, we have not adequately replaced either of them.

I was watching it on a <cough> stream and at 80 mins I thought that we would screw it up. Funnily enough, the last ten mins weren't too bad and then I was expecting Lloris to pick up a ball to use up a few more mins. At this point, Caulker once again decided to take matters into his own feet and the rest is depression.

I'd just be happy if we showed a ounce of the passion and togetherness Everton showed at the end there

It's Evertons year because Jelavic high fived everyone when he came off. At least, according to Hansen and co it is.

That's rather over-simplifying what was already a very simple point: they have a great team spirit and don't give up.
